Lição 5 · Etapa 1: O básico
Present continuous
InicianteForma e uso
am/is/are + -ing — algo que está acontecendo agora ou nestes dias
1.Forma
O presente contínuo = am / is / are + verbo-ing.
| Sujeito | Afirmativa | Negativa | Pergunta |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | I'm working | I'm not working | Am I working? |
| he / she / it | she's working | she isn't working | Is she working? |
| we / you / they | they're working | they aren't working | Are they working? |
Com palavra interrogativa: What are you doing? Why is he laughing? Respostas curtas: Yes, I am. / No, she isn't.
2.Acrescentando -ing
| Caso | Regra | Exemplos |
|---|---|---|
| a maioria dos verbos | + ing | read → reading, play → playing |
| termina em e mudo | tira o e + ing | make → making, write → writing (mas see → seeing, be → being) |
| 1 vogal + 1 consoante, sílaba tônica no final | dobra a consoante | sit → sitting, run → running, swim → swimming, begin → beginning |
| sílaba tônica não é a última | não dobra | visit → visiting, open → opening, listen → listening |
| termina em ie | ie → y + ing | lie → lying, die → dying, tie → tying |
Nunca dobre w, x ou y: snow → snowing, fix → fixing, stay → staying.
3.Quando usar
1. Algo acontecendo agora, enquanto você fala — muitas vezes com now, right now, at the moment, Look!, Listen!
Shh! The baby is sleeping.
Psiu! O bebê está dormindo.
Look! It's raining again.
Olha! Está chovendo de novo.
I can't talk now. I'm driving.
Não posso falar agora. Estou dirigindo.
I'm reading a great book about Japan.
Lan is learning Korean because she wants to work in Seoul.
3. Situações temporárias — muitas vezes com today, this week, this month, these days
I'm staying with my cousin until I find an apartment.
You're working really hard this week.
Você está trabalhando muito esta semana.
4. Mudanças em andamento — com get, become, change, improve, increase, grow, rise, fall…
Your English is getting better.
Seu inglês está melhorando.
Prices are rising every month.
5.Erros comuns
She cooking dinner now. She's cooking dinner now.
Está faltando o be.
I am work now.I'm working now.
Depois de be, o verbo leva -ing.
Are you understand?Do you understand?

Dobre o m.
He's makeing tea.He's making tea.
