Lezione 5 · Tappa 1: Le basi
Present continuous
PrincipianteForma e uso
am/is/are + -ing — qualcosa che succede adesso o in questo periodo
1.Forma
Il present continuous = am / is / are + verbo-ing.
| Soggetto | Affermativa | Negativa | Domanda |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | I'm working | I'm not working | Am I working? |
| he / she / it | she's working | she isn't working | Is she working? |
| we / you / they | they're working | they aren't working | Are they working? |
Con una parola interrogativa: What are you doing? Why is he laughing? Risposte brevi: Yes, I am. / No, she isn't.
2.Aggiungere -ing
| Caso | Regola | Esempi |
|---|---|---|
| finisce in e muta | togli la e + ing | make → making, write → writing (ma see → seeing, be → being) |
| 1 vocale + 1 consonante, accento sull'ultima sillaba | raddoppia la consonante | sit → sitting, run → running, swim → swimming, begin → beginning |
| accento non sull'ultima sillaba | non raddoppiare | visit → visiting, open → opening, listen → listening |
| finisce in ie | ie → y + ing | lie → lying, die → dying, tie → tying |
Non raddoppiare mai w, x o y: snow → snowing, fix → fixing, stay → staying.
3.Quando si usa
1. Qualcosa che succede adesso, mentre parli: spesso con now, right now, at the moment, Look!, Listen!
Shh! The baby is sleeping.
Sst! Il bambino sta dormendo.
Look! It's raining again.
Guarda! Sta piovendo di nuovo.
I can't talk now. I'm driving.
Ora non posso parlare. Sto guidando.
I'm reading a great book about Japan.
Sto leggendo un bellissimo libro sul Giappone.
Lan is learning Korean because she wants to work in Seoul.
Lan sta imparando il coreano perché vuole lavorare a Seul.
3. Situazioni temporanee: spesso con today, this week, this month, these days

You're working really hard this week.
Questa settimana stai lavorando davvero tanto.
4. Cambiamenti in corso: con get, become, change, improve, increase, grow, rise, fall…

Il tuo inglese sta migliorando.

I prezzi stanno aumentando ogni mese.
5.Errori comuni
She cooking dinner now. She's cooking dinner now.
Manca be.
I am work now.I'm working now.
Dopo be serve il verbo in -ing.
Are you understand?Do you understand?
They are swiming.They are swimming.
Raddoppia la m.
He's makeing tea.He's making tea.
Togli la e muta.
