What's up everyone?
2
Alright, in today's episode, I'm going to walk you through my day trading watch list for Monday morning
3
and the game plan for the week ahead.
4
It is fall in New England.
5
We had a frost last night, so I've broken out my winter hat and I will be wearing this for the next six months.
6
Let's go ahead and jump on the screen share and start breaking down the watch list.
7
All right, so Friday, as you may recall, was a dud.
8
We just didn't have anything that was really solid, but the biggest move was XLAB,
9
and this was a squeeze that really took off after the opening bell.
10
So this is a stock that we kind of noticed, but I disregarded primarily because the float on it is 41 million shares.
11
That's a higher float than what I would typically trade.
12
It's also a lower price than what I typically do well on, but nonetheless, it ended up squeezing up to $1 .70,
13
then up to $1 .90, up to $2 .20, pulled back up to $2 .60, $2 .90, $3 .10, $3 .50,
14
$3 .80 before coming back down to earth.
15
And now it's back at $2 .14.
16
It's on the backside of the move.
17
And I rarely would look at this as a good opportunity for a retest of the high
18
when it's retraced more than 50 % of this move.
19
So if I draw the 50 % line, just approximately, it doesn't have to be exact,
20
at about there, if it was holding in this area after hours, then I would consider it for a retest at the top.
21
We would be worried about a double top, which is when we come right back up to that previous high and we reject it.
22
And we've had a number of examples of double tops just recently where, you know, you've had a stock that,
23
well, this one, this was sort of a different example.
24
Actually, I got to rename this one.
25
Highly volatile example.
26
But let's see, here's a double top.
27
So we had this high here, it comes back up, it pushes through it just for a second and then flushes back down.
28
You don't really like to see that.
29
This one here's a triple top coming back up, the double top rejects, and it comes up again, and it ends up rejecting.
30
So that one I just showed you this one oh that's the same one i gotta organize some of these
31
so the fact is when i have something this is a good example double top here
32
and then comes back up here and rejects
33
and this is one where it did give back more than 50 of the move
34
then it kind of rallied back up and then it went
35
but it's really hard to kind of fight that battle
36
when it's already shown the initial weakness
37
so this is shown initial weakness by coming back down this far
38
which means even if you get a little rally up to me.
39
It's just not enough to be worthwhile.
40
So XLAB from Friday, that's not interesting.
41
UPLD, this is very light volume, moving up a little bit in after hours on Friday.
42
No interest in that.
43
ACTU, this is a cheaper stock.
44
If we sort based on volume on Friday, ZTG had 172 million shares of volume.
45
That's a ton of volume.
46
But again, squeezes up in pre -market, rolls over, gives it all back.
47
Then you get a little bounce off the low, but that's it.
48
XLAB, we already talked about 170 million shares.
49
TCRT, 32 million shares.
50
This one's interesting because it tries to go, but it's just not able to do it.
51
You zoom back out on the daily
52
and you realize that the move from Friday in the context of this move from earlier in the week,
53
you know, it gave back almost all of it, certainly more than 50 % of it.
54
And then it's on the backside coming back down.
55
So it just has the selling pressure pushing it down and it's not able to pull away.
56
So that was no good.
57
LHSW, this was a cheaper one.
58
No interest in that for me.
59
So now that we look at the overall market, the S &P 500, we know that last week was a little bit tough.
60
The CPI numbers came in higher than expected.
61
So that was on Wednesday here.
62
So that means inflation is elevated more than what was anticipated.
63
Coming into the midterm elections, that creates a little bit of concern.
64
I mean, I was looking at the price of diesel, what was it, on Friday, $7 .84 a gallon for diesel.
65
It's crazy.
66
I mean, that's extremely high, especially for working class people who have diesel trucks.
67
That's unbelievable.
68
That's, you know, all the equipment that runs on diesel.
69
It's just, it's insane.
70
So, you know, people, people are definitely feeling the pinch there.
71
And so, you know, anyways, costs, you know, across the board for things are inflated.
72
And so the market's responding to that.
73
And then another drop on Friday, you know, and of course, there's conversation about, you know,
74
the semiconductors and the AI companies and everything else, they're coming back down.
75
You can see NVIDIA coming back down a little bit.
76
So, let's see, SOXL, Semiconductor Long ETF, coming back down, as you can see here,
77
and then SOXS is the short ETF, which is rallying up.
78
You know, but I don't get into trading ETFs, I just kind of look at them as a measure of what's happening in the market.
79
The reason I don't typically trade them is that they are a derivative.
80
So if you're looking at a candlestick pattern on this, what it does is based entirely on the price action of something else.
81
And so you may get some patterns because those are patterns that are also occurring on the underlying instrument.
82
But I generally don't do super well trading derivatives.
83
I find them to be fairly challenging.
84
And this is, of course, too expensive.
85
So we're in a state right now where the overall market's pulling back.
86
We know that for the last year and a half, whatever, people have been talking about AI bubble, AI bubble.
87
And so, you know, now we're seeing, you know, some of these AI stocks or, you know, semiconductors, whatever, coming back down a little bit,
88
NVIDIA coming back down, combined with inflation, combined with the midterms, we're in a period that is a bit uncertain.
89
And so it shouldn't be a surprise that trading is a little bit more uncertain right now.
90
And that's certainly been the case for me.
91
Last week was not a great week.
92
I was red.
93
I was up on Monday and then the rest of the week was, you know, red or very small gains.
94
And so it's a little discouraging.
95
Right now, October is on track to be my second worst month of the year, you know, behind September.
96
So September and October this year have been the two worst months of the entire year.
97
Now, of course, there's still a couple weeks left.
98
There's some time to redeem myself, which you never know.
99
But But I wouldn't set my expectation that that's going to happen right now
100
because I think this is the time to batten down the hatches.
101
And saving yourself unnecessary loss might be the biggest goal right now.
102
And I would say that it's difficult right now both for short sellers
103
and long bias traders because we don't have clear direction.
104
We don't have really obvious moves, which make it easier to read the patterns.
105
So regardless of whether you're long bias or short bias,
106
this is a challenging time I'm not seeing that short sellers are feeling like this is a super easy time.
107
Yes, we're getting some more of those
108
You know pops and and then reversals, but a lot of them are on such light volume I mean something like this.
109
There's no liquidity behind it
110
You know whether you're long or short.
111
There's not much you can do with it
112
So light volume moves without a lot of conviction
113
It's hard to profit from those and of course if you have the misfortune of you know, getting caught the wrong way,
114
because the liquidity is poor, they can move very quickly, you know, in your direction or against you.
115
Look at that reversal from $5 .50 down to $2.
116
And there was no news on that.
117
It's just extreme, you know, kind of panic and greed and stuff that kicks these up and then drops them back down.
118
So that means I always, on Sunday, look at my after hours top gainer scanner
119
and you've got fufu there leading the way up 22 percent it's a singapore company
120
and it's up 22 percent
121
because it flushed 50 percent going into the close then bounced back up
122
so you don't get credit for being up 22 percent
123
because that's really not a fair assessment
124
so aame this one um it again for me it's too cheap uh it doesn't have enough volume behind the move, half a million shares.
125
I don't have any interest in it.
126
RPGL, no. I mean, it's just, I would be surprised.
127
It is a Singapore company, and that's where we've been seeing some pops.
128
But look at the chart.
129
We've been seeing that this one pops and drops.
130
It's not trustworthy.
131
So unfortunately, right now, we don't have any good after hours top gainers to look at for continuation to Monday morning.
132
We don't really have anything on the scan right here for continuation to Monday morning, which means at this point right now,
133
I don't have a list of two or three stocks that I really like for Monday.
134
So when that's the case, and this is the case from time to time, here's the way I do it.
135
I sit down.
136
Well, usually what I actually do is around 6 .45 in the morning, 6 .30 in the morning,
137
I'll pull up the scans right on my phone.
138
So I'll pull up DayTrade Dash on my phone.
139
I'll check the scans and I'll see what's our leading gainer, what's moving in the market right now.
140
And if we have something that's moving in the market right now, then, you know, I'm like,
141
all right, boom, we must have had news at four or five, 6am.
142
It's already started to pop up.
143
We've got a stock up a hundred percent, maybe 200%, whatever it is.
144
And I'm going to come in and either trade that stock
145
or look for continuation and sympathy momentum on the next stock that comes up with news.
146
If I pull up my scans and our leading gappers are 20 -30 % the way they were on Friday, then that tells me, all right,
147
we haven't gotten a headline yet that's gotten a stock moving, so I got to wait.
148
But I'll come over to the office.
149
I'll be here around 7 a .m.
150
And then I just watch the top gainer scanner to see stocks moving up it.
151
See right down here.
152
This might be covered by my video.
153
I'll just hide my video for a second.
154
Let's see.
155
So if you see right down here, you've got that red arrow going down and the green arrow going up.
156
So when I see green arrow going up, that tells me this stock moved up the scan.
157
So these two traded places, basically.
158
One moved up, one moved down.
159
So when I see one starting to move up, then I say, oh, all right, what's going on with that one?
160
Oh, it's got a news headline or whatever, whatever.
161
And then maybe a few minutes later, it hits the scanner.
162
Now it's moving up with a little more momentum.
163
It's got some buying volume.
164
And that's kind of how I start to pick up on stocks that are squeezing.
165
and next thing you know, a stock like that can end up being on the top gainer scanner for,
166
you know, all the stocks above 50 cents in the entire market.
167
And typically, the times that I look at that will be around the top and the bottom of the hour, 7, 7 .38, 8 .39.
168
And then going into the opening bell, I kind of take my foot off the gas.
169
In fact, I wish I had taken my foot off the gas, you know, with my share size, you know, in general, a little bit earlier.
170
I often say that.
171
I am, so I will say that I'm pretty good at putting the pedal to the metal and getting aggressive.
172
That's not hard for me.
173
That's kind of always been in my nature to get really aggressive with trading and take really big size.
174
So it's not hard for me to get aggressive.
175
It's hard for me to slow down.
176
It's hard for me to take my foot off the gas.
177
I get stubborn.
178
I get frustrated.
179
And usually what happens is, you know, I'll have an outsized loss.
180
And initially that outsized loss, I'm kind of like, all right, was that just, you know,
181
the market's hot and I was just off my game, whatever.
182
And so when I come in the next day, I continue to swing hard.
183
And in a hot market, I'll be back, I'll make that big loss back in one day.
184
And then I just continue on the upward, you know, trend of making good money.
185
But in a colder market, it's the second big red day.
186
No, this is not good.
187
Now I've had two big red days in a row.
188
The third day is when I really have to rein things in.
189
But if I see something starting to move and it looks good, I'll think, all right, this is the one.
190
I jump in it.
191
And now all of a sudden the stock did look good.
192
But the last two days of bigger rejections, which were reflected in my own P &L, are also that sentiment is around the entire market.
193
All the traders feel that because other traders got caught in similar rejections and then day three, another red day.
194
And now it's like, uh -oh, in three days, I just gave back 10, 20 % of my profit, whatever, in the last X period.
195
It could have been all the profit, depending on where you're at in your career.
196
And now it's like, well, geez, I just cut my buying power way down.
197
I've lost a bunch of money.
198
I'm frustrated.
199
I'm disappointed.
200
And now you kind of have to sit with this feeling of,
201
it's going to take me a long time to make back that loss in this market that we're in right now.
202
You know, if the market was still hot, I can make it back really quickly.
203
But it was three, four days in a row that were red, you know, or maybe a week, whatever happens to be.
204
And now to make that back in a cold market, it's just going to take a long time.
205
So this is sort of something that I've experienced a lot of my own trading.
206
I'm not happy with my performance, you know, for the last 90 days or so.
207
I kind of, you know, really peaked in July this year.
208
and well, June technically was the peak
209
and then July things were a little slower and then August there were a few tremors.
210
$73 ,000 red day, $64 ,000 red day and I still finished the month up $223 ,000 but I had two,
211
four, five red days and things really cooled off back here
212
and then we go into September
213
and September was you know two four six seven red days two four six eight nine green days
214
I mean that's not good for me I had one bigger red day
215
so slowest month of the entire year and now here we are in October
216
and October you know except for one good day back here it's been a really difficult month.
217
And now, you know, so this is kind of where we're at right now.
218
And yes, we've got two weeks left.
219
But, you know, at the same time, I'm not super optimistic that things are going to get better in the next two weeks.
220
I almost think that they might not get much better until after the midterm elections.
221
And which way the midterm elections go might also either, you know, end up adding fuel to the sell -off in some of the tech stocks.
222
You know, these companies, I mean,
223
we know that a lot of these big tech CEOs are spending a lot of money right now to try to keep
224
Republicans in control of the House and Senate.
225
So, But I'm concerned about the possibility that if we have a midterm election that doesn't go in their favor,
226
that we're going to see more sell -off in tech stocks.
227
Now, however you feel politically, that's just the reality of what I see or what I expect to happen in the market.
228
So if that does happen, then we're going to have to try to parse through what
229
is going to be the theme where we see traders get excited again.
230
And this year, there's been sort of a combination of some crypto market or prediction market themes,
231
some AI themes, which are sort of really softening at this point.
232
Crypto is down.
233
I mean, we're not going to have good crypto catalysts until crypto or, you know, Bitcoin is back to its all time high.
234
So this is just a rough chart of crypto, but, you know, 122 high, and we're down here at 81, right after falling quite a bit.
235
So we did sort of base out here.
236
But I, you know, I don't know this, you could almost say this is an inverted or a traditional head and shoulders pattern.
237
So if crypto, you know, falls by the wayside, AI falls by the wayside.
238
Then where do we go next?
239
Is it back to the biotech stocks?
240
These biotech companies that are working on just genuine cures to terrible diseases and illnesses,
241
which when they come out with them have the potential for
242
that stock to go up a thousand percent in a single day.
243
That's always been a tried and true sector for us, except that many of those biotech companies a couple days after they put out that news,
244
sell shares to raise money to continue funding their research and development.
245
So big news, move up, secondary offering, very common theme.
246
But you never know when they'll do it.
247
And sometimes they surprise us and they don't do a secondary offering.
248
They instead get a private placement where they don't have to sell shares on the open market.
249
The price is high and the stock surges even higher.
250
Next thing you know, it's a $50, $75, $100 a share.
251
So it's not to say it's a slam dunk for a short seller either that you just know two days after news,
252
it's going to drop because that's not always the case.
253
But biotech is tried and true, which is good.
254
But yeah, I think at this point, for the rest of October, I think it's going to be a base hit market.
255
Just get in, get green, get out.
256
Don't overstay your welcome.
257
There'll certainly be some opportunities in the next two weeks, but will there be more of the big moves?
258
I'm not sure.
259
Even the ones that we've had, like MNDR from last week, Singapore Company puts in a big move, no news.
260
So look, I mean, I'm happy to trade it, but without clear catalyst beyond it's just a foreign listed security,
261
it just feels a bit, it's hard to trust.
262
It's hard to feel confident sizing up on that.
263
JBDI, another one, Singapore Company.
264
So Singapore is the new
265
China right now.
266
We've seen a number of Singapore stocks that have moved, which is, you know, part of why on that after hours top gainer scanner,
267
I was kind of like, okay, well, you know, there are a few RPGL that's Singapore, right?
268
So all right, I mean, I guess I shouldn't completely disregard it.
269
Foo -foo, also Singapore.
270
So, you know, well maybe
271
if that's the theme in this market um you know it's better than nothing
272
but it's a tough theme to get really confident in
273
because it's just what any singapore stock with absolutely no news is going to go well
274
that's not going to happen there's you know too many of
275
that it just doesn't make sense so i would say right now keep it tight
276
and i would also say this is a really good time to be studying
277
because the cold markets are an opportunity for you to be in the trenches honing your skill.
278
And then when it heats back up, you're better prepared to be able to capitalize on that opportunity.
279
So to that end, I would encourage you guys to check out the two -week trial right here at Warrior Trading.
280
Two -week trial gives you access to this software right here, gives you access to the charts, the scanners, the newsfeed.
281
You'll also have access to a selection of classes from my curriculum,
282
the Warrior Pro curriculum, and you'll be able to listen to my live broadcast every day.
283
So I encourage you guys to check that out.
284
I think it's a good use of your time if you're interested, if you're committed to being in the market, not just for a few weeks,
285
but you actually want to make this thing happen.
286
So my goal right now is just keeping risk in check,
287
trying to avoid downward spiral and having the red days get bigger and bigger or red months get bigger, bigger, whatever.
288
So just trying to keep everything reined in.
289
To that end, I took 90 % of my account balance out.
290
I did a transfer with a Roth IRA.
291
You could do a direct transfer from Roth to Roth.
292
And so I usually do that.
293
at least once a year, a couple times a year, but I did it.
294
So I cleared out all the profit, basically, from January through September, and reset my account back down to 150 grand.
295
And it was at about two, a little over 2 million from the profit from this year.
296
So now my buying power, you know, is, which is, and this is important, because even if I lost 50 % on a trade right now,
297
I'd be down 75 grand.
298
And that's tolerable.
299
Prior to that, I had $2 million in the account, which meant if I had the misfortune of losing 50 % in a single trade,
300
I could give back half my year of profit.
301
And I need to manage my risk.
302
Now, when the market's hot, I want to keep that money in my account so I can utilize it to keep growing my account,
303
keep, you know, taking bigger and bigger positions.
304
But once things cool off, you got to take your foot off the gas.
305
I wish I'd done it sooner, but it is what it is.
306
So always room for improvement as a trader.
307
So that's it for me.
308
You've got my game plan for Monday morning and a few tidbits about how I think about the market right now.
309
But I'll be back at it.
310
As always, you'll see me in the morning, 7 a .m streaming for members at Warrior Trading.
311
So please make sure you guys check out that two week trial.
312
But I'll remind you as always that trading is risky.
313
My results aren't typical and there's no guarantee you'll find success whether you trade with me or you learn on your own.
314
So please manage your risk, take it slow, and I'll see you tomorrow at 7 a .m.
