Plants and animals live in all sorts of places all around the world.

Some live in hot, dry places like the deserts.

Tall trees reach for the sky and colourful birds fly between the branches.

They enjoy the warm weather and lots of water from the rain.

Some animals even live under the water in rivers, lakes and the ocean.

Underwater animals include fish, dolphins, octopuses and sea turtles.

Plants and animals fill our grasslands.

Animals like rabbits and butterflies and grasshoppers find their food in these places.

And plants like grasses and small shrubs with colourful flowers grow there too.

Each of these places, or habitats, give the plants and animals everything they need to survive.

Plants get the sunlight, water and air they need to grow.
