If you clicked on this video, you're probably avoiding something right now.
2
You might have some laundry piling up or an Excel spreadsheet that you need to do for your boss.
3
Everyone at some point has fallen into the trap of procrastinating tasks that are important.
4
And these tasks are often vital to our own well-being.
5
People often underplay procrastination and they don't realize just how much it's holding them back.
6
A lot of people see procrastination as laziness.
7
And often at times, it can be pretty similar.
8
I've seen from a lot of people's procrastination
9
that it stems from how we look at the things that we need to do.
10
You know, it's easy to procrastinate the large tasks because they seem overwhelming at the start.
11
How long is it going to take?
12
Is it going to start raining?
13
That is how we think.
14
We analyze to the point that it paralyzes us and we cannot take that first step.
15
Unfortunately, this analogy is why we procrastinate the things that matter the most.
16
We remove the result of these tasks and attach ourselves to the difficulty that's often not that difficult.
17
Our brains hate the unknown.
18
That's why we try to predict our outcomes and look for an escape.
19
This way of thinking is rooted in our survival mechanisms.
20
It's the same trap time and time again.
21
We say things like, oh just one more hour or one more video, because we're so afraid of the potential discomfort that the journey may bring.
22
Now the reason I'm telling you this is
23
because I want you to understand the problem so that we can all overcome it and be the best that we can.
24
The first thing, and it's actually something that I researched for a past video, and that's how to build your confidence as a man and speak to people and girls, but that's not important.
25
The important thing is the method and what it does, and that's overcoming the fear of starting something or doing something.
26
When you realize what you need to do, count down from five or ten and then just do it.
27
Don't convince yourself or think of the journey or even the result.
28
It's as simple as five, four, three, two, one.
29
Stand up and then just do the very fucking thing that it is you've been putting on.
30
This method bypasses your logic and reason because we all know when you start doing something, it's easier to keep going because you have momentum.
31
And if you find yourself distracted, find discipline, count from five and lock back you.
32
It sounds so simple because it is.
33
And I find that this helps people that are more intelligent.
34
Because the more intelligent you are, the more logic and reasoning you have.
35
And intelligent people use those same properties to convince themselves why they should not do something.
36
Your brain is so clever at thinking and analyzing the next steps that it ends up paralyzing itself.
37
So no more.
38
Right now, count down from five and go do the thing that you're meant to do.
39
5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
