1
Hi everyone, my name is Bo and this is Bo's Slow English.
2
Today I want to talk about habits that I copied from people I consider smart.
3
And when I say smart, I don't necessarily mean IQ.
4
I mean people who are thoughtful,
5
successful, emotionally aware, disciplined, and good at handling life.
6
Over the years, I've worked with doctors, entrepreneurs, business owners, clients, and people who are very different from me.
7
I noticed their patterns.
8
So today I'm going to share this knowledge with you and maybe you will also want to copy them.

11
It's for kids, families, and super beginner English learners.
12
When I was younger, I think I assumed smart people naturally had everything together.
13
I pictured someone who was organized all the time, productive all the time, and never overwhelmed.
14
I definitely don't think that anymore.
15
Actually, some of the smartest people I've met seemed flexible.
16
Structured, but flexible.
17
Logical, but also creative.
18
Confident enough to have opinions, but open-minded enough to hear another perspective.
19
That surprised me.
20
One thing I noticed is smart people often create systems.
21
I don't necessarily mean complicated systems.
22
I mean routines or habits, ways of making life easier.
23
Maybe they always exercise at the same time.
24
Maybe they keep notes.
25
maybe they wake up early.
26
I noticed many people remove decisions where they can, because thinking constantly is exhausting.
27
Getting up earlier is probably one habit I copied.
28
I don't always do it perfectly, but I noticed people who wake up early often seem calmer
29
because they have more control over their day before everyone else needs something from them.
30
I'm still working on consistency with that.
31
Another thing I copied is simply getting things done sooner.
32
I'm not perfect at this either.
33
But I noticed smart people often avoid letting small tasks build up too much.
34
because eventually small things become stressful things.
35
I know for me, anxiety increases when everything piles up at once.
36
Something else that surprised me is many successful people are kinder than I expected.
37
I think younger me assumed successful people would be intimidating
38
or cold not always some of the smartest people I've met are good listeners they ask questions they remember details
39
that stood out to me I
40
also noticed many people I respect meditate
41
or do some version of slowing down mentally meditation
42
sounds intimidating sometimes people picture sitting silently for an hour for me breath work counts
43
or walking walking
44
breath work all of those are considered quiet time for me
45
I think the goal is simply creating space in your mind
46
my parents influenced me too they're very diligent diligent means careful and hard-working over long periods of time
47
I think growing up around immigrant parents teaches consistency whether you realize it or not.
48
Sometimes that's positive.
49
Sometimes it can create pressure too.
50
Probably both.
51
A habit I'm still trying to learn is balance.
52
Honestly, I'm not very good at it.
53
I work a lot and I've always worked a lot and
54
because i enjoy building things whether it's youtube or other projects stopping doesn't always come naturally i'm still figuring out where
55
ambition ends and rest should begin i think many adults struggle with
56
that one thing i changed my mind about is this idea
57
that smart people know everything i don't think
58
that anymore i actually think intelligent people are often willing to say i don't know or i changed my opinion that requires confidence too
59
if i had to summarize habits i copied from people smarter
60
than me i'd probably say structure matters staying open-minded matters kindness matters
61
and rest matters more than i used to think i'm still working on all of those this isn't advice just observations
62
I'm curious, have you copied any habits from someone you respect?
63
Or is there a habit you're trying to build right now?
64
Also, let me know if you learned any new vocabulary words from today's video.
65
Thank you for listening, and I'll see you soon.
66
Bye!
