He's so in tune with rock in general and music.

He's such a music lover and it was just great.

He came in, we played him the songs.

He just loved the songs.

He was like, great, let's try this, let's try it.

We made a few changes.

He just got the best out of the band.

Even before my time in the heap, they had their own methods of recording, which they just always, always, always done.

So this one, Jay had the idea.

He said, no, I want to do a song a day.

it'll be fine don't worry some of the guys were like oh it's not going to work

because normally we would record the music

and then Bernie would put the vocals on

and all the backing vocals would be done like a couple of weeks after you know

and guitar solos but

but Jay had the idea of the way he works is

just now let's do a song a day it's going to be fine trust me

so we said okay well and try and we went there and he did it, it was great.

It is because we spend so much time together on the road because we're always playing.

I think it's just been the remit of the band for many many years now

so half the battle is it's not only playing you have to get along

so we do get along really well there's a lot of laughing lots of jokes each other's expense

but that's you know all part of it

it was my first time in the studio yeah he did

do the two albums before last one they did was a wake the sleeper it was 2008 I think eight

or nine but it's a cool studio it's in the middle of nowhere

so you got no distractions that's what we liked about it the good thing about working

and playing in Uriah Heap is that we play together as a team

so a lot I know with technology now people tend to record bits

and pieces and put them together in different places

but we had real kind of it's kind of a 70s classic band

and we still make you know he likes we get in the room all of us

and we did all the tracks live all the backing tracks live

so we do about three takes and then pick the best takes

so it was a real um for me it was like being in the classic 70s

when they used to go off to these uh amazing studios

and you know chateaus and stuff and make albums like in the old days.
