1
What's going on, guys?
2
I hope everybody's doing great.
3
So let's talk about some law enforcement stuff in this video.
4
Three things not to do when encountering law enforcement.
5
Now, this doesn't just mean traffic stop.
6
It includes traffic stop and other contacts as well, whether you're contacting them or they're contacting you.
7
In general, people are uncomfortable when encountering law enforcement.
8
People get nervous.
9
This includes me and everybody else.
10
And it is completely normal because a lot of times when we encounter law enforcement, things aren't good.
11
There's some negative circumstances surrounding that.
12
So it is completely normal and people try to be comfortable with
13
that by just doing a bunch of other stuff that's not necessarily good for people.
14
So with that being said, let's get right into it.
15
And I'm not going to bore you guys with some of the common stuff that you guys already know,
16
like keep your hands on a steering wheel or don't get out of the car or don't make any sudden movements, etc. Anyways, let's get started.
17
But before we do that, guys, if you like my content, if you'd like to subscribe, i'd appreciate it comment like
18
so i'll just continue making more content for you guys also instagram copper kaya with
19
that being said number three don't name drop guys cops do not like people just dropping names
20
you come across entitled like hey i know so and so
21
and you know this person i used to work with
22
that person i'm the son of this person wife
23
or husband of this person maybe a politician or another cop trooper agent
24
or some business person ma 'am i wrote your citation for
25
You come across entitled and that you're supposed to
26
and you can do what you just did and get away with it because you just know people.
27
Everything nowadays is recorded, so two things happen.
28
Number one, cops don't like that.
29
You come across arrogant as well entitled as I said.
30
We don't like that.
31
A lot of times that'll probably get you jammed up more or just simply there won't be any discretion used on you.
32
Maybe some special circumstances, okay, but do it at your own risk.
33
I wouldn't recommend it.
34
Another thing is everything is recorded nowadays.
35
Body cams everywhere.
36
Dash cams have been around for many, many years.
37
So next thing you know, you're finding yourself on YouTube.
38
Don't do that.
39
We don't like people name -dropping.
40
Whatever you did, own up to it or keep your mouth shut.
41
Deal with it.
42
Move on.
43
If you're going to involve the person that you want to involve, somebody who could possibly help you with that,
44
maybe you can do that after the fact and see if that works for you.
45
But on the side of the road, a lot of times, we're not going to like that, and that may backfire on you.
46
In fact, let me tell you a quick story.
47
I stopped a woman driving, riding the shoulder in Illinois on the interstate.
48
Traffic is backed up big time.
49
She just jumped on that right shoulder and just rode it for quite some time.
50
So I stopped her and got her information.
51
She was like, hey, do you know so -and -so?
52
I was like, I don't another officer, Chicago police officer.
53
I said, I don't.
54
He said, okay, I'm his wife, just to let you know.
55
I said, okay.
56
So I got her information.
57
She said, are you still going to write me?
58
I said, well, I'm going to go back to my car, leave right back.
59
Came back, wrote her three tickets.
60
And the reason three tickets, I wrote her three tickets,
61
she switched lanes, two lanes without signaling to jump on that shoulder and wrote it for a while.
62
So she got the signaling ticket.
63
She got, And I also didn't like her attitude.
64
The way she was talking to me was like, hey, I'm somebody, some other officer's wife, so are you really going to write me like that?
65
I didn't like that, so I threw her the improper lane usage ticket.
66
I obviously wrote her for the shoulder writing, and also I wrote her for not having insurance.
67
She didn't have one on her person.
68
And she was upset with me that I wrote her a ticket
69
because she's the wife of an officer and I did not extend the professional courtesy.
70
And I simply told her, I was like, talk to your husband, see if you'd be okay the way you were driving.
71
Don't do that.
72
Anyways, let's move on to our number two.
73
Do not get into an argument on the side of the road with a police officer.
74
That could be at a traffic stop, that could be a police officer coming to your house, and that could be you're going somewhere,
75
get stopped on the street by a police officer.
76
Guys, do not argue with police officers.
77
Now, you may be 100 % right, but arguing is not going to get you to win that fight.
78
You have to control your emotions because if you actually control your emotions,
79
psychologically, you're going to send that signal to the officer that you're somebody who is calm and collected and intelligent.
80
That's actually going to affect the way the officer is talking to you.
81
Also, showing respect goes a long way.
82
Police officers, yeah, they're bad apples everywhere.
83
You're going to have a jackass, asshole police officer coming at you just talking to you in a way where you're not going to like it.
84
That's happened to me before.
85
But if you can be calm and collected, it doesn't matter what happens.
86
It's going to be in your favor, at least this way.
87
Number one, goes to court, whatever it is, you're going to look more calm and collected.
88
You're going to look more credible.
89
Once you lose your cool, you're just going to lose credibility as well.
90
You could be right.
91
And being right doesn't always mean you're going to stay right.
92
A lot of folks are in the right, and they get really upset,
93
emotional, and they start arguing with the police officer on the side of the road, and they actually get in the wrong.
94
Some of them just get into a tussling match with a police officer, get resisting charges, or God forbid someone get shot.
95
Like bad things actually happen.
96
It escalates over there, and he or she is the cop.
97
She's got the authority there, and she or he is going to win.
98
Don't do that.
99
Argue your case in court whatever it may be i know us humans we just want
100
when we're right we just want to be able to tell our cases right no
101
you're wrong this is not how it is this is a private property this and that call me okay
102
are you employed yourself is that company
103
or that's that's uh that's some capital f yourself okay capital f in case
104
you can't spell either i know you've done barely got an education
105
You can say all of those things.
106
You can actually tell your case to a police officer or law enforcement official, whoever they are, by staying calm and collected.
107
Because you arguing is certainly not going to solve any problems.
108
In fact, it's going to affect the officer's ego, which we all have it, guys.
109
So cops are human, too.
110
And nobody wants to look wrong and look like an idiot
111
that cop is going to dig his or her heels
112
and they're just going to stand their ground a lot even tougher
113
so just be calm
114
and collected tell your case hey officers I did not I wasn't speeding no I wasn't
115
that person no here's the information okay well I'm explaining you my case sir alright I understand
116
stay calm
117
and collected whatever's going to happen is going to happen at worst
118
you can argue your case in court at the very very worst best case scenario actually
119
When you go to court in front of a jury, when you look all calm and collected, you're going to look better.
120
When things go on YouTube, okay?
121
How many times have we seen a police officer is clearly in the wrong
122
and the person who's in the right screaming and yelling, doing a bunch of stuff,
123
and people are just talking a lot of shit to that person too because they couldn't keep their cool.
124
So don't argue in any way, shape, or form.
125
It's going to look better on you almost every single time.
126
So, let's move on to number one.
127
And number one is going to be, guys, do not volunteer information.
128
People step on their own dicks all the time by just volunteering information.
129
Now, some of my cop friends, police officer friends, which 95 % of them are, they're not going to like this,
130
that, oh, you know, you're telling people not to talk to us.
131
That's kind of what I'm saying.
132
Yeah, when you volunteer information, a lot of times it could be used against you.
133
I mean, look at the Miranda rights.
134
Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
135
Officers openly say this when they read the rights of an individual who is in custody.
136
What does that tell you?
137
That's your right.
138
Your right is to stay silent.
139
And I highly recommend every single person to remain silent.
140
Exercise your rights and no police officer, no law enforcement official should get upset with you remaining silent.
141
Now, I'm not saying like cooperate, absolutely always cooperate with law enforcement.
142
It goes a long way.
143
All right.
144
You can show them all the respect and still stay silent.
145
You know, I see those videos on the internet.
146
People are just like exercising their rights and more power than them, but they're just being assholes about it.
147
I don't like that.
148
That's not for me.
149
I don't recommend you be that way.
150
You can still be very respectful.
151
Officer, I respect what you do.
152
I appreciate what you do here.
153
But I choose to not provide any information that I don't have to.
154
So if you want my name, my ID, there it is, this and that.
155
Provide anything that you have to your personal information, whatever.
156
But anything about the case, whatever it may be, don't say anything.
157
Your attorney is going to love you, by the way.
158
Absolutely.
159
Don't say anything.
160
And it is very normal for us
161
Like if we haven't done anything
162
Like, oh my god, no, no, it wasn't me
163
No, no, no, I was right there
164
Maybe you can say all those things
165
But if you see the police officers are coming at you with more stuff
166
Ooh, you're investigating me
167
Alright, I'm going to stay silent
168
Do what you have to do
169
Guys, this goes a long way
170
We've seen a lot of cases
171
With that being said, do not volunteer information. Be respectful.
172
Absolutely cooperate.
173
You can do all of that stuff, and the officer, detective, special agent, whoever they are, upset with you where they really don't have integrity then.
174
They don't respect your rights, and they shouldn't be in the profession.
175
As much as, like, you know how many times I stopped a car?
176
And by the way, I'm not, like, I wasn't this perfect cop either.
177
I've made my mistakes, of course.
178
But I've stopped cars before
179
Where the person didn't want me to search the car
180
And I really wanted to search
181
And I had this hunch that he could have guns or dope, whatever And I didn't have a dog available
182
Dog came in, didn't alert, whatever And guess what?
183
Bye -bye As much as I really want to get in there
184
He's got his rights
185
And that's beautiful in this country
186
Like freedom of speech
187
You should be able to tell me anything you want to tell me
188
And I should be able to fight for that
189
Because that's what freedom of speech is That's another thing, Fourth Amendment rights
190
Unreasonable search and seizure
191
Well, guess what
192
Just because Fifth Amendment rights, self -incrimination Just because we don't like
193
You exercising that right Doesn't mean we shouldn't respect it
194
We should not be upset at you
195
For exercising it
196
And anybody who does
197
Well, I don't think they should be in the profession
198
Don't volunteer information
