1
What is going on everybody and welcome to the second installment of Ranking Killers by Patrick Jane's chances of catching them.
2
Now I made the first part of this video about a year ago and it ended up doing pretty well.
3
So with the mentalist now starting to trend again on TikTok and I mean it's going viral viral, I figured that this was the perfect time to bring the idea back.
4
And the first time around I only included around 6 serial killers
5
or just killers which really isn't enough when there are so many interesting matchups we could throw Jane into.
6
So for part two, I gathered some of the most mainstream and dangerous killers from your favorite TV shows and movies,
7
and we're going to rank them based on just how difficult they would be for Patrick Jane to identify, expose, and ultimately catch.
8
So without further ado, let's get right into it.
9
Now the tiers are pretty self-explanatory.
10
Coming in at the top, we have They Escape, Elite Survivalists, which kind of means they'll evade Patrick Jane for quite a long time, but eventually Patrick Jane will catch them.
11
It'll take some time and then at the last one we have Easy.
12
So coming in first we have Roman Bridger from Scream 3.
13
And right off the bat I just have to put him in Easy.
14
And now before somebody says
15
that Roman literally orchestrated the entire massacre from behind the scenes from the first movie all the way to the third.
16
I know Roman is easily one of the more intelligent ghost faces.
17
He successfully manipulated events, operated alone for most of his killing spree
18
and managed to convince basically everyone around him that he wasn't the person behind the mask.
19
The problem is that Patrick Jane is almost the worst possible detective you could put against a ghostface killer.
20
Ghostface investigations depend heavily on misdirection.
21
Everybody has secrets and the killer tries to turn the group against itself.
22
Jane lives for that kind of environment.
23
He would barely care about the physical evidence at first.
24
He'd sit in a room with everyone connected to the murders and start talking.
25
He'd intentionally accuse innocent people, tell lies about evidence that doesn't exist, and watch everybody's reactions.
26
Now Roman is a good actor obviously, but Jane has spent years detecting tiny behavioral changes from people specifically trying to deceive him.
27
His entire motivation is purely personal in Scream 3.
28
He isn't just killing randomly, everything he does goes back to Sidney, Maureen Prescott, and the life Roman believes was stolen from him.
29
Once Jane realizes the killer isn't simply obsessed with the stab movies but has a very specific emotional connection to Sidney Prescott,
30
that suspect pool gets dramatically smaller.
31
Roman could absolutely fool the police for a while
32
but I think Jane eventually gets underneath his skin and then forces him into making a move.
33
So yes, of course, Roman Bridger stays at the last tier at easy.
34
Coming in next we have Paul Spector from The Fall.
35
Now, Paul Spector is extremely careful.
36
He stalks his victims, studies their routines, understands police procedure surprisingly well and lives an outwardly normal life as a husband, father, and a grief counselor.
37
Now that normal appearance helps him tremendously
38
because he doesn't walk around looking like the stereotypical serial killer even though he kind of has the stereotypical serial killer traits, you know living a double life.
39
But Patrick Jane has dealt with people exactly like this his entire career.
40
Now the normal family man persona probably wouldn't impress him very much.
41
Jane would be more interested in the contradictions.
42
Spectre wants to appear emotionally controlled, but underneath that control is obsession and enormous amount of narcissism.
43
The biggest problem Specter has against Jane is that his murders reveal too much about him.
44
His victim preferences, stalking behavior, and desire to revisit what he's done will give Jane something to work with.
45
Jane would probably construct an extremely accurate picture of Specter before knowing his name.
46
From there, Jane starts baiting him.
47
is disciplined enough that he might initially ignore it but Jane would eventually find the right nerve.
48
Once Jane gets physically close to Spectre I think it becomes even worse.
49
Spectre is excellent at maintaining appearances around ordinary people
50
but Patrick Jane obviously is not an ordinary person and eventually Jane would see right through Spectre.
51
Now I don't know but I mean like I just feel like this would be another easy catch for Patrick Jane.
52
Maybe I'm underestimating him here but I would put him below Roman Bridger.
53
I don't know, maybe I'm turbo underestimating here, but this is just what I think.
54
Coming in next, we have John Kramer from Saw.
55
Now, this is where things get considerably harder because Kramer isn't operating like a normal serial killer.
56
Because Jane can't just build a profile and watch for someone fitting
57
that behavior because John has constructed an entire philosophy around what he does.
58
Now, he considers his victims responsible for their own deaths, uses abandoned locations, and eventually recruits multiple acquaintances.
59
Now that creates a massive investigation problem because even if Jane understands Jigsaw's psychology, understanding him and locating him are completely different things.
60
But John also gives Jane something incredibly useful, an ego disguise as a philosophy.
61
Now Patrick Jane would recognize almost immediately that Jigsaw doesn't simply want victims, he wants to build an audience and the second Jane understands that, he now has leverage.
62
Now Jane would attack the philosophy instead of chasing the engineering.
63
He might even intentionally misrepresent Jigsaw's message
64
because he knows John would hate seeing his work misunderstood because at the end of the day, because at the end of the day,
65
without this philosophy, John Kramer would not be putting people in traps because if he threw his philosophy out the window, then he would become a true cold-blooded killer.
66
His workshops are hidden, his traps can be prepared long before they're activated, and depending on which point in the Saw timeline we're using,
67
Jane might actually be investigating multiple people without realizing it.
68
Now Amanda could carry out one game and then Hoffman could carry out another, while Kramer remains nowhere near the crime scene.
69
But untangling that entire network would definitely have to take some time.
70
I don't think this would be one episode and I do not think this would be very easy for Patrick Jane.
71
I kind of just want to go with elite survivalists.
72
Next we have Walter White from Breaking Bad.
73
Walter is low-key one of the strangest matchups here because technically he isn't a traditional killer.
74
As we all know, he's part of a drug cartel operation, and he does kill sometimes.
75
And in this case, that actually kind of helps him here, because Patrick Jane really, because Patrick Jane doesn't really necessarily, you know, investigates drug lords,
76
but I mean, like, he definitely could.
77
Now, if Patrick Jane were investigating Heisenberg without knowing Walter personally, Walter's biggest advantage would be how absurd he looks as a suspect,
78
Because he's just a high school chemistry teacher with cancer
79
and suddenly becoming one of the most dangerous meth manufacturers in the southwest sounds pretty ridiculous.
80
But to Patrick Jane, that would make him more interested rather than less.
81
Once Walter enters Jane's orbit, I think Jane notices very quickly that there's something underneath the awkward exterior that he possesses.
82
Jane would become convinced Walter is suspicious long before the CBI has enough evidence to arrest him.
83
Or in this case, you could just say the DEA.
84
Now, Walter is incredibly resourceful when cornered.
85
And unlike many killers Jane deals with, Walter is willing to suddenly become extremely violent when survival demands it.
86
I mean, for God's sakes, he literally blew up a whole entire building.
87
Jane would need Lisbon and the rest of the team watching him carefully because one mistake could actually get somebody killed.
88
Ultimately though, Walter's ego destroys almost every perfect situation he creates.
89
Jane is basically an expert in weaponizing ego and I think he eventually gets Walter White to expose himself, but Walter would make him earn it.
90
But I don't know, we're talking about an entire drug operation, but then again, Jane wouldn't really need to expose the entire operation.
91
You would just need to expose Walter White as Heisenberg and for that specific reason, I think it'll take some time.
92
Next we have the Trinity Killer from Dexter.
93
Now, before we continue this video any further, if you haven't already subscribed, it would mean the world to me if you did.
94
I am currently on the road to 100,000 subscribers and if you've been enjoying these videos, there's plenty more content like this on the way.
95
Every new subscriber helps me get one step closer to that goal.
96
So thank you guys so much for the support and let's get back to the video.
97
Now Trinity is almost perfectly designed to be difficult for law enforcement.
98
He literally operated for decades without getting caught.
99
He also moved through different jurisdictions, maintained a family, held a respectable position in his community,
100
volunteered with charities, and developed a murder cycle that investigators didn't even fully understand for years.
101
And by the way, while they were investigating him, they got it wrong.
102
Well, they didn't get it completely wrong.
103
They just forgot one step.
104
If Jane joins the investigation without Nexter Morgan already pointing toward Arthur, finding Trinity would take a very long time.
105
And what makes Arthur especially dangerous is how convincing his public persona is.
106
Now, Patrick Jane would probably see through Arthur once he actually spends enough time around him.
107
But getting Arthur into that room is the actual problem.
108
Now, there are thousands of respectable middle-aged men who could theoretically fit the profile
109
because Trinity doesn't need to constantly communicate with investigators and he doesn't intentionally leave some grand message specifically designed for law enforcement.
110
Now Jane could determine
111
that the killer is recreating some kind of traumatic family structure especially after the full cycle becomes understood
112
but turning that insight into Arthur Mitchell's name is pretty difficult.
113
The only reason Dexter found out who Trinity was was
114
because he stole Frank Lundy's private research files
115
and then he uses basic deduction skills to then pinpoint who could be the next possible suspect.
116
Now for this one, I'm not going to lie, the Trinity Killer for me definitely would be an elite survivalist.
117
I feel like it's pretty hard to pinpoint Arthur Mitchell as the Trinity Killer.
118
So yes, I feel like he's an elite survivalist.
119
Next we have Lalo Salamanca.
120
Lalo is both socially brilliant and completely comfortable with violence.
121
Now Jane's greatest strength is recognizing when someone's external behavior doesn't match what's happening internally.
122
But Lalo is one of those rare characters where knowing he's dangerous doesn't necessarily give you a practical way to stop him.
123
Jane would almost certainly dislike Lalo immediately.
124
Maybe not because he instantly knows he's a cartel killer, but because that charm is too controlled.
125
Because once Lalo decides Patrick Jane is an actual threat, this stops becoming a detective story and starts becoming a survival problem for Patrick Jane.
126
And if Jane, and I'm not gonna lie, Jane isn't beating Lalo in a physical confrontation at all.
127
His best chance is coordinating with law enforcement and setting an airtight trap before Lalo knows he's the target.
128
Because hey, eventually if Patrick Jane knows that Lalo's gonna come after him, maybe he could just tip off law enforcement and be like, yo, this is the spot where he's gonna try to kill me at,
129
send the SWAT team, or I don't know, something like that.
130
Lalo 100% goes in elite survivalists.
131
Next, we have Johan Liebert.
132
Now, Johan is almost the anti-Patrick Jane.
133
Now, Jane manipulates people by understanding them, But Johan does essentially the exact same thing at an even more disturbing level.
134
Johan can enter someone's life, discover their insecurities, fears, guilt,
135
and desires and then completely reshape their behavior without needing to personally commit the crime himself.
136
People will kill for him or he could just manipulate people to unalive themselves.
137
And if anything Johan might become interested in Jane's trauma and start manipulating that instead.
138
maybe figure out the truth, but figuring out Johan Liebert and actually catching Johan Liebert, I mean, brother, I'm not gonna lie, you're not catching Johan Liebert, brother.
139
No, I think Johan disappears before Jane could even build a strong case enough to even stop him.
140
So 100%, Johan Liebert is the first person in this video that would escape Patrick Jane.
141
And last but not least, we have Light Yagami.
142
Now, Light isn't necessarily impossible for Jane to psychologically understand.
143
In fact, I think Jane would probably find Light suspicious much earlier than most investigators.
144
But understanding that light might be Kira doesn't solve the fundamental problem.
145
I mean, L had this problem as well.
146
Because Patrick Jane has absolutely no logical reason to conclude
147
that a supernatural notebook exists
148
that can kill somebody anywhere in the world as long as the user knows their name and face.
149
Well, actually, maybe he could because he kind of dabbles with quote-unquote magic himself.
150
Now, for L to actually know that the supernatural exists, he had to conduct extremely specific experiments just to establish basic rules surrounding Kira's power.
151
Jane might eventually determine that Kira needs information about his victims and that the police information is somehow being leaked, but getting from there to Light Agami owns a notebook given
152
to him by a Shinigami is almost impossible without supernatural evidence appearing directly in front of him.
153
And Jane has another enormous problem.
154
His identity is public.
155
Patrick Jane is famous within the world of the mentalist.
156
He literally appeared on television as a psychic and later publicly worked major cases and if Light decides Jane is becoming dangerous,
157
dude Jane will literally die 100%.
158
He would be dead by daylights.
159
Now Jane might be able to protect himself
160
if he somehow learns Kira's rules quickly enough but realistically I don't think he gets that opportunity.
161
So Light Yagami if I could just make a new tier I would say he kills Patrick Jane.
162
I don't even think he just escapes him.
163
He definitely kills Patrick Jane 110%.
164
So yeah, let me know what you guys think about this video.
165
And if you guys want a part three, let me know in the comment section down below.

  • Orchestrated the entire massacre —
  • Detecting tiny behavioral changes —
  • Forces him into making a move —
  • Living a double life — Живет двойной жизнью
  • Construct an extremely accurate picture —

He isn't just killing randomly

Shadowing?
