1
I know you love Zen, the concept of Zen.
2
When did you start learning it?
3
I started learning about Zen philosophy when I was in college. In college?
4
Yeah.
5
Zen's not really a religion, but I've studied it in a religion class.
6
It comes from Buddhism originally.
7
Was it a Japanese teacher?
8
No, but it was an Asian studies teacher, so he was an expert in Asian religions.
9
And what was the concept of Zen by that teacher?
10
Well, it's difficult to explain,
11
but Zen is basically about appreciating the little moments in life and being in the present moment.
12
You know, a lot of times we think about the future or we spend a lot of time thinking about the past.
13
Zen is mostly about trying to be in the right now.
14
Sounds like mindfulness.
15
It's very close to that.
16
Mindfulness is discussed a lot in Zen philosophy.
17
so is there a way to be good at zen or what's the what i can do to
18
i think i understand your question um you know there is no good
19
or bad about it it's really like uh do you like
20
taking a walk in nature sometime i love it yeah me too
21
and i think that in essence is zen is just appreciating the beauty in nature
22
or the wind on your face or you know the sound of the birds
23
and the trees it sounds a little corny but appreciating
24
that moment in time that's basically zen so
25
if i'm enjoying this conversation right now
26
that means i am in zen sure uh in essence
27
if you're in this moment uh as we speak uh that's a form of uh zen appreciation is it possible
28
that i would be in zen all the time
29
if i'm able to enjoy every moment of my life that's
30
a great question i uh i think it's sort of impossible to constantly be present uh You know,
31
it's a good goal to aim for, but it's sort of like an unattainable goal, like a goal that you can't ever get to
32
because your mind is at some point going to think about tomorrow or remember something from the past.
33
How much of a day do you think you are in the same moment?
34
I've never calculated it like that.
35
But I don't know, because I catch myself all the time thinking too much about the future
36
or reliving a memory for too long.
37
And then when I catch myself, I bring my focus back to what I'm doing at the present moment.
38
Sometimes I focus so much and I feel like I'm in the zone, but it's different from Zen?
39
well i you know i don't really want to define it
40
because the that's the the paradox
41
or the uh the kind of confusing thing about zen the the more
42
and more you try to define it really the further away you get from it it's not something
43
that there are like rules that are written down
44
and you follow these rules it's really more about just being just being alive
45
and acknowledging that appreciating that maybe we can both go to the Zen garden and see how it works
46
that's good I would love to talk to like a Zen monk or something
- appreciating the little moments:欣赏微小的瞬间。在描述对生活的感悟时,这个短语能让表达更生动,比如“Zen is about appreciating the little moments in daily life”。
- being in the present moment:活在当下。这是对话中的核心表达,可用于讨论正念、禅修等话题,如“Mindfulness means being in the present moment”。
当描述自我反思的过程时,这个搭配很实用,例如“I often catch myself thinking about the future too much”。
- bring my focus back:把注意力拉回来。用于表达如何调整注意力,如“When I get distracted, I try to bring my focus back to the task”。
- in essence:本质上。在总结观点时使用,能让表达更简洁,比如“In essence, Zen is about being alive and appreciating it”。
重点关注“appreciating the little moments”“being in the present moment”等短语的连读和弱读。
