You will hear a telephone message about a business studies course.
3
For each question, fill in the missing information in the numbered space.
4
You now have twenty seconds to look at part three.
5
Now we're ready to start.
6
Listen carefully.
7
You will hear the recording twice.
8
Hello, this is Green Hill College.
9
I'm leaving this message in answer to your inquiry about the Business Studies course.
10
Firstly, you asked when the course starts.
11
It begins on the 12th of June and finishes four weeks later on the 7th of July.
12
According to your letter, you're free at this time, so I hope those dates will be alright.
13
At the beginning of the course, there are no lectures because we spend time watching business videos
14
so you won't need to bring anything for the class as everything is provided.
15
Don't forget however that although you can bring your own laptop if you wish, mobile phones are not allowed in the classroom.
16
I'm afraid these can disturb the classes so they've now been banned.
17
You said you're coming by car.
18
Well, as it's only a short course, you can use the visitors' car park, which is just beside the main entrance.
19
We're only a short walk away.
20
Just turn right after the Science and Technology Centre, cross the staff car park, and you'll see the door to the Business Studies Department in front of you.
21
Finally, you also wanted to know if it's possible to attend a language course while you were here.
22
Well, the answer is yes, but we only have room on our Italian classes.
23
Oh, no, actually, there's one place on the Spanish course too.
24
We usually offer French and Japanese as well, but there aren't enough students for those classes this summer.
25
So, I think that's all.
26
But if you need to ask any further questions, please call Sonia Ashley.
27
Ashley, that's spelt A-S-H-L-E-I-G-H.
28
She's the secretary in the Business Studies department and she'll be happy to help.
29
Thank you for your inquiry.
30
Now listen again.

Grammatik & Ausdrücke im Kontext

  • Zukunftsangaben mit "begins" und "finishes": "It begins on the 12th of June and finishes four weeks later" – einfache, klare Formulierungen für Termine, die man in Gesprächen oft braucht.
  • Konditionale mit "although": "Although you can bring your own laptop, mobile phones are not allowed" – zeigt, wie man eine Ausnahme hinzufügt, ohne die Hauptnachricht zu stören.
  • Informationen strukturiert vermitteln: "Firstly, you asked... Finally, you wanted to know" – hilfreiche Marker, um Gespräche übersichtlich zu halten, besonders in formalen Kontexten.
