Shadowing-Übung: Save Money, Spend Less | Mel Robbins #shorts - Englisch Sprechen Lernen mit Video

1
You always hear this advice from people who are out of touch that, like, if you want to save money, just spend less.
2
Like, sick, cool, good advice, I'm cured.
3
Like, that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
4
Because it is not actually a willpower thing.
5
And frankly, you cannot willpower your way to good decisions.
6
So what I actually encourage people to do is build a system.
7
Okay.
8
Most of us these days, you're not getting a physical check from your boss.
9
Most of us get an electronic deposit of some sort.
10
Whether you are a W -2 employee and you get a bi -weekly paycheck,
11
or if you are a freelancer and you send in an invoice and they direct deposit the cash into your account.
12
Here's what you're going to do.
13
You can actually set aside part of that paycheck to not your checking account.
14
So most of us just have 100 % of that paycheck go into your checking account.
15
You see it, you spend it.
16
Hell yeah.
17
Wrong.
18
What we're going to do is we're actually going to set aside 95
19
or 90 % of your paycheck and it's going to go to
20
that checking account you're gonna pay your rent you are going
21
to take care of the needs for your family you are going to pay for the things
22
that you need to pay for and that 10 % that 5 % if you want to start small
23
we're gonna have
24
that immediately go to a savings account most banks these days can allow you to do an auto transfer
25
so maybe it's oh I work a retail job
26
so I know for the most part i can expect this
27
much money to be hitting my bank account every month
28
if there is a convenient date
29
or maybe two convenient dates you can say hey let's transfer a hundred dollars once this check clears
30
or by the end of the week and put
31
that into a high yield savings account you're able to earn more interest
32
and that's great that is extra money in your pocket
33
that comes out of thin air like most banks that are traditional brick and mortar are offering you, the FDIC national average right now is 0 .37%.
34
So you put a hundred bucks in at the end of the year, you got a hundred bucks and 37 cents.
35
What are you buying with 37 cents?
36
Nothing.
37
Okay.
38
But high yield savings accounts are offering somewhere between three to 4 % right now.
39
And so a hundred bucks in at the beginning of the year, at the end of the year, you have a hundred and three hundred four dollars and that scales.
40
So you put in more money, you get the bigger percentage.
41
And so you will be earning more and more money.
42
And so I think that is a way that you can essentially start to bridge that gap.
43
If you are automatically paying yourself first and setting money aside into that savings account, today you is literally taking care of future you.
44
And that is a gift because you're paying future self to take care of the people that you love the most.
45
Thank you.
