Present simple per gli orari
PrincipiantePresent simple for timetables
Forma e uso
The bus leaves at 8. The class starts on Monday — orari e programmi fissi nel futuro
1.Forma
| Esempio | |
|---|---|
| Affermativa | The train leaves at 7:40 tomorrow morning. |
| Negativa | The shop doesn't open until ten tomorrow. |
| Domanda | What time does the film start? |
| Risposta breve | Does the course start in May? — Yes, it does. |
Un soggetto singolare vuole comunque la -s: The bus leaves, the concert starts. Dopo does il verbo torna alla forma base: What time does it start?
2.Quando si usa
1. Orari dei mezzi di trasporto
Our flight leaves at 6:15, so we need a taxi at four.
What time does the next bus to Hoi An leave?
The match starts at 7:30 on Saturday.
Sabato la partita comincia alle 7:30.
Hurry up! The supermarket closes in ten minutes.
Sbrigati! Il supermercato chiude tra dieci minuti.
I start my new job next Monday.
Lunedì prossimo comincio il nuovo lavoro.
When does your English course finish?
Quando finisce il tuo corso d'inglese?
4. Date e calendario
Tomorrow is Friday — finally!
Domani è venerdì, finalmente!
My birthday is on a Sunday this year.
3.Orario ufficiale o impegno personale?
|---|---|
| The film starts at 8. | We're seeing the film with Nam at 8. |
| What time does the train arrive? | What time are you arriving? |
| The meeting is at 9 tomorrow. | I'm meeting the new manager at 9 tomorrow. |
Per appuntamenti, lezioni, esami o colloqui puoi usare anche have / have got + sostantivo:
I have a job interview on Thursday.
Giovedì ho un colloquio di lavoro.
We've got an English test next week.
Usare will per gli orari dei mezzi non è sbagliato (The train will leave at 7:40), ma sembra un annuncio in stazione. Nella conversazione di tutti i giorni si usa il present simple: The train leaves at 7:40.
4.Errori comuni
