Hello everyone and welcome to English Cozy Chat,

a slow English podcast where you can learn English in a fun and natural way.

Today, I am in the snowy mountains and we are going to be talking about some snowy mountain and skiing vocabulary.

Let's talk about everything that we see around us.

There is something very special about being in the mountains when everything is covered in snow.

It feels quieter, slower, and more peaceful.

This day was sunny and beautiful.

The sky was clear and the snow was bright white.

It was the kind of day that makes you want to stay outside for hours.

This is a big area where people were playing in the snow.

Some people were sledding.

A sled is something that you sit on and slide down a hill.

It is very fun.

Look at this snowman.

A snowman is a man built out of snow.

This snowman has a small mitten on his head for a hat.

He also has some tree branches for arms, some small tree pieces for his eyes,

a stick for his mouth, and a piece of red plastic for his nose.

I think it looks funny and cute.

These people are hiking in the snow.

Walking in deep snow is not easy.

Your feet go down in the snow with every step.

Some people wear special shoes called snowshoes.

Snowshoes help you to walk on top of the snow.

They make walking in the snow easier.

And these are my big red snow boots.

They keep my feet warm and dry.

Now here are the ski slopes.

A slope is the side of a mountain that goes down.

People ski and snowboard down the slope.

Some people ski slowly.

Some people ski very fast.

I love to ski.

I don't go very fast, but I always have so much fun.

Learning to ski can be difficult.

The skis are long and it feels

so strange to have these big skis on your feet and to be sliding around on the snow.

Ski instructors help beginners.

They show them what to do.

They give advice and help them to improve.

Many children also learn how to ski.

Children often learn very quickly.

Sometimes it is easier for children than for adults.

Watching kids ski is sometimes really cute.

Sometimes there are restaurants on the mountain at ski resorts.

I love to stop there and take breaks.

This restaurant even had a DJ.

He played fun music and the vibe was really nice.

As always, I got a cozy drink there.

This was a delicious coffee with boat milk.

Near the restaurant, people were sledding using a very small sled.

This boy fell off.

Oops!

That can happen sometimes.

Ski lifts help you to get from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain

so then you can ski down.

There are different types of ski lifts.

Some ski lifts pull you up the mountain while you stand.

You wait for the chair to come, put it in between your legs, and it pulls you up the mountain.

These are used for smaller ski slopes.

The most common ski lift is a chairlift.

You sit down on a chair and go up the mountain.

This is really nice because you can look at the beautiful view of the mountains while going up.

There is also something called a gondola.

A gondola is closed.

It is also bigger so many people can fit inside.

In Spanish, people call it a wibble.

That means egg in English.

I think that is really funny.

Here I am riding in one.

Spending this day in the snowy mountains was really fun.
