ฝึกพูดภาษาอังกฤษด้วยเทคนิค Shadowing จากวิดีโอ: How to Beat Sexually Intrusive Thoughts

กำลังสร้างบทเรียน...
1
It comes out of nowhere.
2
You're on the bus and a completely random, uninvited sexual thought about the stranger sitting across from you pops up in your head.
3
Or you're talking to your friend's parent and your brain suddenly decides to play a porno scene in your head.
4
And in that moment, you are frozen with absolute terror.
5
You think, what is wrong with me?
6
I'm a monster.
7
If this is you, listen carefully.
8
What you're experiencing is not a reflection of your character.
9
It's your brain being a weirdo.
10
And it's surprisingly common.
11
The most important thing to understand is this: Your brain is not a pristine temple of purity.
12
It's more like a weird chaotic garage band
13
that sometimes starts playing a heavy metal song in the middle of a classical concert.
14
Thoughts are just thoughts.
15
They're not desires.
16
They're not intentions.
17
They are not a secret window into your soul.
18
The problem isn't really the thought itself.
19
The problem is the panic attack you have in response to it.
20
So what is happening?
21
This is often the hallmark of a condition called obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD, specifically a subtype called pure O.
22
The intrusive thought is the obsession.
23
It's your brain's faulty alarm system misfiring.
24
But then the compulsion is the mental ritual you perform to neutralize the fear.
25
You replay the thought trying to prove to yourself that you don't like it.
26
You avoid the person or situation.
27
You essentially fall into the "oh crap" trap.
28
You're trying to put out a fire that doesn't exist by panicking and throwing gasoline on it.
29
So why does your brain suddenly turn into a 13 -year -old boy who just discovered the Internet?
30
It's usually because your brain's volume dial is cranked to 11.
31
Maybe you're stressed about an exam.
32
Maybe your hormones are going wild.
33
Maybe it's that time of the month.
34
Maybe you've been doing no fat for 30 days and your brain is basically screaming for any kind of release.
35
Or maybe you just had a recent encounter that left you feeling a little turned on.
36
And your brain doesn't know what to do with the leftover energy.
37
Suddenly, everything in the world becomes intensely stronger and stranger.
38
The world isn't more sexual, your brain's filter is just a little broken.
39
Oh, do you beat them?
40
You don't beat them by fighting it.
41
You beat them by getting bored of them.
42
This is the core of exposure and response prevention, ERP, the gold standard treatment for OCD.
43
Step 1.
44
Label it like it's a weird bug.
45
The moment the thought appears, say to yourself, "Ah, there's that old intrusive thought again.
46
Classic." Don't debate it, don't analyze it, don't ask why.
47
By giving it a silly, boring label, you take away its power.
48
It's the difference between seeing a monster and seeing a weird -looking squirrel.
49
Step 2.
50
Expect it.
51
Don't be surprised when it shows up.
52
In fact, invite it to the party.
53
Say, "Oh good, you're here.
54
I was wondering when my brain was going to get weird again." When you expect the thought, you take away its power to shock you.
55
It's like knowing the jump scare is coming in a horror movie.
56
You still flinch, but you don't scream and run out of the theater.
57
Step 3.
58
Sit with the anxiety.
59
This is the hardest but most crucial step.
60
The thought will bring a wave of anxiety or disgust.
61
Your job is to let that feeling be there without doing anything about it.
62
Don't reassure yourself.
63
Don't pray it away.
64
Just breathe and tell yourself, This feels awful but it's just a feeling.
65
and it will pass.
66
The anxiety is kind of like a wave.
67
If you fight it, it gets bigger.
68
If you let it wash over you, it will eventually recede on its own.
69
But what if you try all that?
70
and you feel like you're losing.
71
What if resisting feels like you're Nezuko from Demon Slayer, desperately fighting her demon instincts to not go berserk?
72
Even Nezuko, with her incredible determination, had moments where she almost lost control.
73
Sometimes your body's hormonal drive is just too strong to fight with your mind alone.
74
And that's okay.
75
It's not a failure.
76
It is a signal that you need a different strategy, though.
77
If you feel like you can't control it any longer and the thoughts are driving you insane, maybe it's time to go for that run.
78
Since this is often a hormonal issue anyway, physical exercise can do wonders to bypass that tension.
79
Go for a sprint, lift weights, do push -ups until you can't anymore.
80
you're redirecting that intense chaotic energy into something physical and productive It's a healthy way to tell your body,
81
"Hey, we're doing this instead." And this might be controversial, but we need to talk about it.
82
Sometimes, a healthy, consensual release is the most practical solution.
83
Also, have you thought about journaling about it?
84
It really helps.
85
It helps you know what's going on and stops you from feeling like you did something gross.
86
You're not writing down the pornographic details, you're writing down your experience.
87
Today was hard.
88
The thoughts were strong.
89
I felt anxious.
90
but I recognized them for what they were, and I handled it.
91
I'm not alone in this.
92
It's a way of reminding yourself that you're a good person having a very difficult experience.
93
and that you're doing your best.
94
Beating sexually intrusive thoughts is about having a toolkit.
95
Sometimes you use the ERP strategy.
96
Sometimes you need to go for a run.
97
And sometimes you just need a healthy release.
98
You are not your thought.
99
You are the one who hears them.
100
And you are the one who gets to decide what to believe.
101
And you choose to believe the truth.
102
that you are a normal person whose brain is just being a little too creative sometimes, and that you, just like Nezuko, have the strength to resist.
103
If you're struggling with this, please know that specialized help is available.
104
Look for a therapist who specializes in OCD and ERP.
