1
One consistent habit I've noticed among highly achieving women who are also happy
2
and content and feeling in control of their lives is that they measure success by effort, alignment, and input, not by things outside their control.
3
One way that I've developed to think about this over time is separating goals into almost three categories.
4
There's input goals, there's output goals, and there's outcome goals.
5
An example with my YouTube channel is an input goal is
6
I want to spend 15 hours on my YouTube channel every week.
7
An output goal is I want to post one video per week.
8
An outcome goal is I want to gain x number of subscribers every month.
9
Once I've set the outcome goal and I've used it to generate a north star and a strategy, I then let go of it, I detach from it, I take a step back.
10
And actually that level of detachment allows me to work from a place of joy
11
and progress rather than a place of stress and pressure.

About This Lesson

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
