1
Decades of games, a bunch of spin -offs, and somehow Resident Evil is all one connected story.
2
And by the end of this, you'll understand it.
3
Because with so many games, I know it's easy to get confused.
4
So let me walk you through the whole thing, game by game, by following the major events that happen in Resident Evil lore.
5
But don't worry if you haven't played all the games.
6
Even though I will be talking about the overall story, I won't be diving too deep into all the details.
7
Before anyone fighting zombies in a mansion, remember everything starts with one company, Umbrella.
8
On paper, Umbrella was a pharmaceutical company, but behind closed doors, it was developing biological weapons.
9
One of its founders, Oswald Spencer, believed humanity could be forced to evolve into something greater so to make that happen,
10
he financed experiments using the ancient progenitor virus his team found in West Africa in the 60s.
11
His lead scientist, James Marcus, combined it with his research on leeches and created the T -Virus, setting up the events of the story.
12
Now let's take things from the mountains just outside Raccoon City.
13
July 23rd, 1998.
14
The event of Resident Evil Zero began.
15
Rookie medic Rebecca Chambers is sent into the Arklay Mountains with Star's Bravo team to investigate a series of brutal murders.
16
On the way there, their helicopter goes down, and Rebecca is separated from the rest of the team.
17
She then encounters
18
Billy Cohen, a former
19
Marine convicted of murdering civilians during a military operation.
20
Rebecca has every reason to not trust him, but the two quickly realize that surviving depends on working together.
21
They fight their way through a train crawling with leeches and infected, which eventually crashes into an old umbrella facility hidden in the mountains.
22
It's a training facility James Marcus used to run his experiments, and the files that they find there reveal what happened to him.
23
After creating the T -Virus, Marcus was killed on Spencer's orders, murdered by his two students, William Birkin and Albert Wesker.
24
But Marcus kinda came back.
25
One of the leeches he experimented on latched onto his body, absorbed his memories, and over 10 years took on his appearance.
26
That creature believes it's Marcus, and it's the one that caused the virus to fall into Arklay Labs' water supply,
27
which leads to the Spencer Mansion incident later.
28
Rebecca and Billy survived the creatures, including leeches, zombie dogs, mutated monkeys, and infected people.
29
Then they face the thing wearing Marcus's face which drops the disguise
30
and mutates into a massive leech creature before they put it down for good.
31
And after everything they went through Rebecca lets
32
Billy go for saving her life.
33
She then heads for the Spencer Mansion to link back up with Bravo team
34
And a few hours later, the events of the original
35
Resident Evil begin.
36
July 24th, 1998.
37
This is where we meet
38
Star's Alpha Team.
39
Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, and Albert Wesker.
40
Yes, that same Wesker.
41
After Bravo Team goes missing, Alpha Team searches for them in the Arklay Mountains, getting chased by something in the woods,
42
and takes shelter inside the Spencer Mansion.
43
Splitting up to search for the estate, they find it overrun by zombies and mutated animals and run into the members of Bravo Team,
44
some barely alive while others are already dead.
45
Rebecca Chambers is the only one who survives the night and joins up with Alpha Team.
46
The deeper they push into the estate, the worse it gets.
47
Eventually, they find
48
Umbrella's underground research facility right under the mansion, which explains all the creatures they've been fighting all night.
49
Zombies, hunters, giant spiders, all Umbrella experiments.
50
And someone has been watching all of it, their own captain.
51
The whole time Wesker had been playing the dependable leader, when in reality he was using the whole incident to gather combat data on Umbrella's bioweapons,
52
with his own team as the test subjects.
53
Wesker reveals his motives in the underground Arklay Labs, then wakes up
54
Umbrella's ultimate creation at the time, the Tyrant, turning it against the team.
55
As the Tyrant wakes up, it impales Wesker, who immediately falls to the floor.
56
The surviving Starz members defeat the Tyrant, set the mansion to expel explode and escape.
57
And you would think this would be the last time we see of Wesker, but that's not the case.
58
We would later find out that before he let the tyrants strike him, Wesker had already dosed himself with a prototype virus Birkin handed to him.
59
His death was part of the plan, and the virus brought him back faster and stronger,
60
letting him walk off with umbrellas research after their escape the remaining stars members try exposing umbrellas crimes
61
but no one believes them as the virus keeps spreading beyond the spencer estate
62
by late september 1998 two months after the mansion the
63
t -virus has already spread through raccoon city on september 29th
64
rookie cop leon kennedy shows up for his first day on the job and walks right into the middle of the outbreak.
65
This is where
66
Resident Evil 2 begins.
67
Claire Redfield arrives separately hoping to find her brother Chris, but neither of them finds what they came for.
68
Instead, they deal with a city filled with infected civilians.
69
They run into each other early on and head towards a police station together, but are separated almost immediately.
70
So they take their own paths through the city, into the Raccoon City Police Department, down the sewers, and finally
71
Nest, Umbrella's secret laboratory buried under the city.
72
Along the way, they meet a little girl named Sherry Birkin, whose father William created the experimental G -Virus.
73
When Umbrella sends a team to take the sample back, they gun him down, and William injects himself with a G -Virus to survive,
74
becoming one of the franchise's most terrifying monsters.
75
Every time Leon or Claire runs into him, there's less of a man left.
76
And that G -Virus is what pulls another big player into the city, Ada Wong, who introduces herself to Leon as an FBI agent,
77
though she's really a spy after a sample for an employer she never reveals.
78
Meanwhile, while all this is happening, the events of the two
79
Resident Evil Outbreak games run through the same city during the
80
same week following eight ordinary civilians including a reporter named elissa ashcroft remember
81
that name for later but
82
while all of this is happening above ground the worst of
83
it is waiting underneath by the time the main cast reaches
84
nest sherry has already been infected with a g -virus embryo by her own mutated father
85
and claire is racing to synthesize a vaccine out of umbrella's own research to save her leon's down
86
there too with ada and this is where her cover is blown.
87
She admits what she's actually after, then takes a bullet and goes over a railing into the dark.
88
Meanwhile, the whole place starts to count down to self -destruct, leaving everyone still down there with minutes to get out.
89
Soon after, Leon reunites with Claire and Sherry at the emergency escape train of the facility, put what's left of William down for good,
90
and escape the city alive.
91
Hey, it's up to us to take out Umbrella.
92
But Leon and Claire weren't the only ones fighting their way through the city.
93
Jill Valentine already knows exactly who's responsible for the outbreak, and Umbrella knows she survived the mansion.
94
The events of Resident Evil 3 begin a day before
95
Resident Evil 2 and end a couple days after, in early October 1998.
96
To silence anyone who can expose the company, Umbrella drops Nemesis into the city with a specific mission, eliminate every surviving member of STARS.
97
Nemesis is a tyrant, the same class of bioweapon Wesker woke up in the mansion labs,
98
except this one has a parasite grafted into it that makes it far smarter and more controlled than the standard tyrant.
99
It can use weapons, open doors, and will stop at nothing.
100
It's finally over.
101
Jill runs into Carlos Oliveira in the middle of all of this, a mercenary from Umbrella's own countermeasure unit, which should make him the enemy,
102
except his squad is getting torn apart the same as everyone else.
103
So they end up working together out of necessity.
104
His unit was told they were here to evacuate civilians.
105
But the longer Carlos is on the ground, the clearer it gets that saving the city was never really Umbrella's priority.
106
And he's expendable too.
107
But here's what none of them knew.
108
The US government has already given up on Raccoon City and has decided to destroy it and Jill nearly doesn't make it.
109
Nemesis infects her during one of their fights, and Carlos has to find a vaccine while she's unconscious.
110
He gets it, Jill wakes up, and then she finishes Nemesis herself, with an experimental rail cannon she finds.
111
Then Carlos and Jill are airlifted out with hours to spare, and they only learn what's coming right at the end,
112
when they're looking back at the city from the rescue chopper, watching a missile take the city apart.
113
The United States government destroys Raccoon City to contain the outbreak, officially closing a long chapter that spans across
114
Resident Evil 2, 3, and both outbreak games.
115
Raccoon City is gone, but biological terrorism is about to spread beyond its borders.
116
And you'd think the destruction of Raccoon City would be the end of Umbrella's story, but one loose end leads to another chapter.
117
Claire Redfield escaped the city, but she never found her brother Chris.
118
Her search continues in Resident Evil Code Veronica.
119
December 1998.
120
Claire breaks into an umbrella facility in Paris, chasing any lead on where her brother is, only to be captured and shipped out to Rockford Island,
121
an umbrella prison in the South Atlantic.
122
The island is attacked, the T -Virus gets loose, and Claire is facing another biological disaster.
123
She gets one message out to Leon asking him to tell Chris where she is, which is the only reason anybody knows she's alive.
124
Along the way, she meets Steve Burnside, another prisoner.
125
And together, they piece together who owns the place, the Ashford's, one of Umbrella's founding bloodlines.
126
Alexander Ashford engineered his own twin children, Alfred and Alexia.
127
And Alexia turned out to be a genuine prodigy who, while still young, developed her own virus.
128
She named it T.
129
Veronica and what makes it different is
130
that in a compatible host it makes you far stronger and faster without wiping out your mind.
131
She infected herself
132
and froze her body for 15 years to let the virus
133
bond properly in a base at the other end of the world.
134
Claire and Steve get off Rockford except Alfred takes remote control of their plane
135
and flies them straight to the base in Antarctica, which is exactly where Alexia is about to wake up.
136
And Claire and Steve aren't the only ones headed there.
137
A virus that makes you stronger without costing you your mind is the most valuable thing
138
Umbrella's founders ever produced.
139
And somebody else has come to collect it.
140
Albert Wesker.
141
Everyone believed he died inside the Spencer mansion, but that prototype virus Birkin handed him did exactly what it was supposed to.
142
He's faster and stronger than any person should be, no longer working for Umbrella and willing to steal whatever gets him closer to his own goals.
143
So Alexia wakes up at the base, and she's everything the Ashfords were trying to build,
144
fully conscious, in control, and strong enough to take the base apart from the inside.
145
She kills Steve using him as a test subject for T Veronica.
146
Meanwhile, Chris has finally caught up to Rockford Island following Claire's message
147
and comes face to face with Wesker for the first time since the mansion blew up.
148
Wesker breaks off to go after Alexia instead because she's what he's actually there for.
149
Chris figures out where Claire went, heads for Antarctica, and together they finally put down Alexia.
150
But it's not over because Wesker already has his people taking Steve's body since he's carrying T Veronica now.
151
Chris fights Wesker himself, gets beaten badly, and the only thing that ends it is the base coming down around them.
152
So Wesker gets what he came for.
153
He walks out of Antarctica with T Veronica on top of everything he stole from the mansion.
154
That's two of Umbrella's biggest breakthroughs, sitting with a man who doesn't answer to anybody.
155
Over the next few years, everything catches up with Umbrella.
156
Government action, investigations, lawsuits, and public outrage over Rackham City all pile up.
157
And the company goes bankrupt and collapses.
158
So by the time we get to Resident Evil 4 in 2004, Umbrella is history.
159
By this time, Leon Kennedy works for the US government.
160
His latest assignments send him to a remote village in Spain to rescue Ashley Graham, the president's daughter.
161
At first, everything feels familiar.
162
Hostile villagers, people becoming infected, another outbreak.
163
But Leon quickly realizes this isn't the T -Virus.
164
The villagers have been infected by Las Plagas, an ancient parasite controlled by a religious cult known as Los Illuminados.
165
The cult plans to infect Ashley, send her home, and take the United States from inside.
166
And a parasite that can control people is worth a fortune to the right to fire.
167
Which is why Ada Wong turns up in that village.
168
That's right, she's alive.
169
Six years after Leon watched her go over the railing in Nest,
170
she's there to steal a plaga sample for an employer that she still won't name.
171
Still, like old times, she keeps saving Leon's life along the way.
172
But here's what makes Leon's rescue mission really complicated.
173
He finds Ashley fairly early in the village church, but that turns out to be the easy part.
174
Sadler, the cult leader, has his people put a plaga in both of them while they're unconscious, which slowly starts taking control.
175
Getting Ashley out of the village was never going to be enough.
176
Now they have to get the parasites out,
177
which they manage to do using a machine in the cult's own lab that burns them out with radiation.
178
Then Leon goes after Sadler and beats him as the island starts coming apart.
179
That's when Ada shows up one last time.
180
She takes the plaga sample Leon just recovered, tosses him the keys to a jet ski so he could get out with Ashley and leaves.
181
In the original game, she then delivers that sample to the man she's been working for this entire time, Albert Wesker.
182
The remake reworks how that plays out a little, but either way, Wesker ends up with Las Plagas.
183
Leon and Ashley escape the island.
184
Mission accomplished, as far as the government is concerned.
185
But the man who walked out of Antarctica with T.
186
Veronica now has
187
Las Plagas too.
188
We continue as planned.
189
Around the same time, in 2004, a terrorist group released the new waterborne virus called T.
190
Abyss and Terragrigia, a floating solar -powered city in the Mediterranean.
191
And the response is the same one used on Raccoon City six years ago.
192
A U .S agency called the FBC,
193
the Federal Bioterrorism Commission, takes charge and they decide the only way to contain the outbreak is to destroy the city.
194
So they do it with a satellite weapon from space.
195
This became known as the Terragrigia Panic.
196
And a year later, it's still not over.
197
But before we get into what actually happened in Terragrigia, Hi, I'm Antonio and if you're new to the channel, welcome to Thy Geekdom.
198
Here, I try to make franchises and gaming and anime easier to understand by talking about their background, history, and stories.
199
If that sounds like your thing, feel free to subscribe to the channel.
200
Alright then, back to Terra Grigia because the official story about who did it and why doesn't hold up.
201
A year later, in 2005, Jill Valentine and her new partner, Parker Luciani, get sent to the Queen Zenobia.
202
a ghost ship in the Mediterranean after receiving a distress signal from Chris Redfield, who has gone missing.
203
They work for the BSAA, a small anti -bio -terror group Chris and Jill helped found, whose director, Clive O 'Brien,
204
argued against burning Teragregia and has been quietly building a case ever since.
205
What they find is an abandoned cruise ship full of infected, but no Chris, and the ship itself is the first real clue.
206
The Zenobia is one of three sister ships owned by the same shipping line, quietly bought years ago by a single buyer,
207
and those ships are where the Terragrigia panic was staged and the virus developed.
208
And the deeper Jill gets, the clearer it becomes that the group behind Terragrigia didn't act alone.
209
The man who gave the order to burn the city is the FBC's own director, Morgan Lansdale, who funded the attack himself.
210
Because a world terrified of bioterrorism is a world that gives his agency whatever it asks for.
211
Chris turns up alive.
212
He was never on the ship at all.
213
He was sent to a snowy mountain region with a new partner, Jessica Sherowat, chasing reports that Teragrigia terrorists were active again.
214
And the distress signal
215
that sent Jill out to sea was faked by O 'Brien
216
himself to get his agent somewhere they'd find what Lansdale was hiding.
217
Chris and Jessica board what they think is a Zenobia, only to realize it's actually one of its sister ships.
218
Once they sort that out, O 'Brien sends them the real coordinates.
219
They finally make it aboard the Zenobia and reunite with Jill.
220
Now there's a mole inside the BSAA, feeding Lansdale everything and it turns out to be Jessica.
221
So Lansdale moves to wipe out the evidence tying him to the Terragrigia panic by turning the same satellite
222
that was used by the FBC just a year ago to sink the Zenobia with Chris and Jill still aboard.
223
But they find what he was trying to destroy first, a video of him meeting with a terrorist group.
224
Lansdale has O 'Brien arrested on false charges to bury it.
225
But Jill and Chris broadcast a video anyway, and everyone sees it at once.
226
Lansdale's own agents arrest him.
227
O 'Brien walks free, and the FBC gets shut down for good.
228
Everything it had gets folded into the BSAA.
229
And off the back of all this, the BSAA gets reorganized as a United Nations agency.
230
That's the moment it becomes the global anti -bio -terror organization you see moving forward in this story.
231
Which brings us back to Wesker.
232
Since walking out of Spencer's mansion, he's been quietly gathering many of the viruses that we've been talking about
233
so far and he doesn't wait long to use them.
234
But before we get to 2009 and Resident Evil 5, there's one thing you need to understand first in a bonus chapter called Lost in Nightmares.
235
2006, Chris and Jill track down Oswald Spencer to an estate in Europe, but Wesker gets there first.
236
Spencer's already dead and before Wesker leaves, he He tells them what Spencer confessed.
237
Spencer didn't just fund experiments on viruses.
238
He ran a program that created and raised children into what he thought a superior human being should be.
239
Wesker was one of those children.
240
Are you saying I was manufactured?
241
Chris and Jill both go after him and get thrown around the room.
242
And when Wesker moves in to finish Chris, Jill tackles him through a window and both of them go off a cliff behind it.
243
Chris never finds a body and for the next three years he believes he got his partner killed.
244
By 2009 Chris is still working for the BSAA
245
and he's sent to a region in West Africa called Kijuju to intercept a bioweapon steal.
246
The people there have been infected with something that leaves them fast and coordinated, the same way
247
Las Plagas worked in Spain.
248
And the deal turns out to be Wesker's.
249
Following it, it leads Chris and local agent Cheva Alomar into an enormous underground facility beneath Kijuju, in the same African region where
250
Umbrella's founders first pulled the progenitor virus out of a flower back in 1966.
251
Wesker has spent 11 years gathering virus research from across this entire story and what he's built out of it is uroboros,
252
a virus he intends to release on the world.
253
Almost everyone who breathes it dies, but a small number are genetically compatible and those are the ones who survive and come out stronger,
254
which is exactly what
255
Spencer wanted back in the 60s.
256
Except now it's Wesker deciding who gets to be part of it.
257
And there's one more thing waiting for Chris down there.
258
Jill is alive.
259
She survived the fall.
260
Wesker recovered her body and he's had her for three years as his enforcer chris
261
and sheva get the device off jill and she comes back to herself
262
and then the two of them chase wesker to a plane loaded with the roburos over an active volcano
263
they bring it down wesker goes into the lava and chris
264
and sheva put two rockets into him to make sure he stays down you son of a bitch
265
11 years after he walked his own team into the Spencer mansion Albert Wesker is finally dead.
266
The T -Virus, the G -Virus, T -Veronica, Las Pagas, and now Ouroboros.
267
All of it out in the world with a market for it.
268
Killing Wesker doesn't put any of that back and it doesn't undo what
269
Spencer built either because Wesker was never the only child
270
Spencer's program produced.
271
Two years Years later in 2011 we catch up again with Claire in Resident Evil Revelations 2.
272
Claire is working with TerraSave, an organization that helps survivors of biological attacks.
273
She's at a company party with a new colleague Moira Burton when armed men storm the building and kidnap them both.
274
They wake up in a cell on an abandoned prison island with metal bracelets locked on their wrists that measure their fear,
275
which they find out is part of an experiment.
276
Everyone on that island has already been infected, including Clara and Moira.
277
And the prisoners who couldn't hold it together are the monsters now roaming it, because the virus feeds on fear and
278
if a person's fear climbs high enough the bracelet turns red
279
and the infection can make them mutate so claire
280
and moira try to get off the island
281
while a voice watches the whole thing and comments on how they're doing
282
that voice belongs to a woman named alex wasker she's another
283
one of the children spencer's program produced the same program that made albert and she's dying of a terminal illness.
284
What she's doing on
285
that island is looking for a way to transfer her mind into a younger body so she can survive.
286
And the fear experiment is how she picks the body.
287
The transfer only works if the host is strong enough.
288
So she infects a few hundred people, terrifies them, and sees who doesn't turn.
289
The one she settles on is a small girl named Natalia, who stayed calm throughout the experiment.
290
So Alex takes Natalia into her facility and runs the procedure on both of them, then pulls the trigger.
291
Escape.
292
Claire gets off the island around the same time, but not with Moira.
293
They make it as far as the tower where Alex is running everything.
294
The place goes up while they're still inside, and Claire leaves believing Moira died there.
295
The story picks up six months later, when Moira's father, Barry Burton,
296
one of the STARS members who walked out of the Spencer mansion back in 1998, lands on the same island looking for his daughter.
297
He finds three people still alive.
298
Natalia, who he keeps with him, Moira, who survived the whole six months, and Alex, whose ruined body the virus brought back after that gunshot.
299
Barry and Claire kills her for good.
300
Barry gets both girls off the island, takes Natalia home to raise her, but then the last shot shows the transfer worked after all.
301
So something Spencer's program built is still walking around inside a little girl in Barry Burton's house.
302
And while all of that is happening, The biggest outbreak our main cast has ever experienced is just around the corner.
303
2012 to 2013.
304
We follow several protagonists between three continents and four separate scenarios that keep crossing each other.
305
This is where the events of Resident Evil 6 take place.
306
It starts with the President of the United States deciding to
307
finally tell the public the truth about Raccoon City 15 years later.
308
He never gets a chance though.
309
Somebody infects him with a new virus called the C -Virus.
310
He turns in front of Leon and Leon has to shoot him.
311
The only other witness is an agent named Helena Harper
312
and the two of them spend the rest of the game wanted for killing the president.
313
Six months before that, Chris is on the other side of the world with a BSAA unit
314
that walks into an ambush and every one of his people dies except his second in command, Pierce Nivens.
315
Also in the same war zone is a mercenary named Jake Mulder, whose blood turns out to be naturally immune to the C -virus,
316
which makes him the key to a vaccine.
317
The agent sent to protect him is Sherry Birkin, the little girl declared saved back in Racket City, now all grown up.
318
Behind all of it is Neo Umbrella, run by a woman named Carla Radims, who was remade to look exactly like Ada Wong,
319
which is why the real Ada keeps getting blamed for things she never did.
320
We're over here!
321
This way!
322
Chasing that imposter down, Ada finds Derek Simmons, a US national security advisor, obsessed with her.
323
See, Carla was the scientist who actually created the C -virus in the first place, working under Simmons.
324
Then Simmons, desperate to turn her research into a copy of the woman he was obsessed with, had Carla herself injected with the same C -virus,
325
and and it rebuilt her into a double of Ada.
326
But she turned on him, took her own virus, and founded
327
Neo Umbrella to burn down everything Simmons built.
328
And that C -virus is the thread tying every campaign together, which brings us back to Jake,
329
and why his blood out of everybody's holds the cure.
330
The answer is that he inherited his immunity.
331
Jake is Albert Wesker's son.
332
So the man who once tried to wipe out the human race turns out to be the reason
333
there's hope of stopping this virus.
334
By the end of this chapter, everyone ends up in the same city, Longxiang, China.
335
Leon and Helena finally corner Derek Simmons, the man who orchestrated the president's assassination, and take him down, which clears their names.
336
Chris and Pierce chase Carla and end up fighting
337
House, the giant bioweapon the Umbrella built to infect the world.
338
During the fight, Pierce takes a lethal dose of the virus himself to save Chris and finish house.
339
Sherry and Jake break out after months in captivity, and Jake decides to hand over his blood for a fraction of what he was demanding.
340
The vaccine gets made, and Ada finds Carla and puts her out.
341
After all that, the series moves away from our usual main cast and hands the story to someone brand new.
342
2017 Resident Evil 7 Biohazard We now follow Ethan Winters, a civilian with no training and no idea
343
Umbrella, the T -Virus, or any of the outbreaks we've covered ever happened.
344
Three years earlier his wife Mia vanished and he was told she was dead.
345
Then a message arrives from her and it leads him to an isolated plantation house in rural Louisiana.
346
He actually finds Mia almost right away.
347
But the reunion falls apart fast.
348
Something takes a hold of her.
349
She turns on him, and in the struggle, she cuts off his hand.
350
Ethan is able to put down Mia temporarily, but then is knocked down by a man before he can get away.
351
Welcome to the family, son.
352
When he wakes up, he's deeper in the house with no idea where she went.
353
Finding her again is what drives the rest of the game.
354
What's waiting there is the Baker family.
355
Jack, Marguerite, and their son Lucas, who were an ordinary family until something got into them.
356
They take Ethan prisoner and make it clear he isn't leaving alive.
357
And when he fights back, he finds that you can put down a Baker, but they'll get right back up.
358
The one exception is their daughter Zoe.
359
She's infected like the rest of them, but somehow she's still herself.
360
And she's the one who actually helps Ethan guiding him by phone and working on a cure for her family and Mia.
361
What keeps them coming back is a living organism called the mold.
362
It's not a virus like before.
363
Instead, it's a fungus, and it links everyone it infects to whoever is controlling it.
364
In this case, there's a little girl named Evelyn, who isn't actually a child at all.
365
But a bioweapon, an organization called The Connections, grew out of the mold and engineered to look about 10 years old.
366
Here's how Evelyn ended up in Louisiana.
367
The connections were moving her by ship.
368
Mia was one of the handlers keeping her contained.
369
Evelyn broke loose mid -voyage and the ship wrecked off coast.
370
Mia and Evelyn both washed up on the Louisiana bayou
371
and Jack Baker was the one who found them and took them in,
372
which is how Evelyn took control of the family and Mia in the first place.
373
And so Evelyn decided to make the bakers her family along with Mia.
374
Ethan gets through the family one by one.
375
Marguerite dies, Lucas who was working with the connections the whole time runs
376
and gets away and Jack keeps coming back until Ethan finally puts him down for good.
377
Then Ethan finds Mia again and finding her means dealing with Evelyn because as long as that girl is alive,
378
everyone she infected stays connected to her.
379
I won't be able to resist for much longer.
380
He puts her down, cutting that link and freeing Mia and ending what's left of the bakers.
381
And then the last shot drops you back into the story you've been following the whole time.
382
A man drops down from a helicopter outside the property.
383
It's Chris Redfield with a patch on his sleeve that reads Umbrella.
384
So it kind of looks like the company
385
Spencer founded is now signing Chris's checks, right?
386
But that's actually not the case at all.
387
A new company bought the name after the original collapsed and turned it into an anti -bio terror organization called Blue Umbrella.
388
February 2021, three years later, Resident Evil Village takes place, and this is the end of Ethan's story.
389
Ethan and Mia have relocated to Europe under Blue Umbrella's protection, and they have a baby daughter now named Rose.
390
While they're at home, Chris kicks the door in with a squad behind him, shoots Mia in front of Ethan,
391
and grabs both Ethan and baby Rose.
392
On the way out, the vehicle Ethan's in crashes
393
and he wakes up alone in the snow outside a village with no idea where his daughter is.
394
So he starts walking.
395
What he finds is a village that's been terrorized by monsters and infection for generations, ruled by a woman they call
396
Mother Miranda and four lords who each control a piece of it.
397
A countess in her castle, a puppet maker, a creature in the reservoir, and a madman in his factory.
398
Miranda had rows separated into four pieces and handed one to each lord.
399
So getting her back means going through all four.
400
Along the way, Ethan learns the village's history.
401
The mold never started in a lab.
402
Miranda found it in a cave under the village in 1919, right after she lost her own daughter to the flu pandemic.
403
And she spent the century since experimenting on her own villagers, trying to bring her daughter back.
404
Eventually Ethan finds out what he is.
405
He actually died in that Louisiana house back in 2017.
406
Jack Baker killed him within an hour of him walking in the house
407
and then the mold rebuilt his body and put him back on his feet
408
and he never knew it every injury
409
he walked away from since was the mold holding him together
410
he isn't a man infected with it he's a man made
411
of it that's why rose could be split into pieces
412
and still be alive
413
and it's why miranda wanted her a child born from a
414
father made of mold was the vessel she'd been trying to create for a hundred years
415
and this is where Chris comes in his squad had been tracking Miranda for months
416
and the Mia Ethan watched him gun down back at the house was never Mia at all
417
it was Miranda who can take other people's shapes
418
while the real Mia was locked up in the village Chris couldn't stop to explain
419
it without losing his one shot at her.
420
Except it didn't work.
421
Miranda played dead, came back, ran the convoy off the road, and carried Rose off to the village herself.
422
That's how she ended up with her.
423
While Ethan fights through the four lords, Chris cuts his own way through the village.
424
He frees the real Mia from Miranda's lab.
425
And in there, he also finds her records, including notes on a visit Oswald Spencer once paid to the village,
426
where what Miranda showed him about the mold is what set him on his path toward forcing human evolution.
427
Her fungus isn't the progenitor virus, and it isn't its ancestor either.
428
Spencer went a different direction and found progenitor in Africa, but the obsession that became
429
Umbrella started right here.
430
Chris also reaches the source of all of it, the Megamycete, the giant mold organism buried under the village that everything else grows out of,
431
and plants a bomb on it to destroy the whole thing.
432
It all comes to a head at the ceremony site at the village.
433
Ethan kills Miranda and gets
434
Rose back, but by then, his body is done.
435
Chris reaches them to help and Ethan knowing he won't make it hands
436
Rose over and tells him to get her out.
437
Then he takes the detonator from Chris and stays behind.
438
Chris gets Rose to the helicopter along with the real Mia
439
and Ethan sets off the bomb on the Megamite seat destroying the village and himself knowing his daughter is safe.
440
And 16 years later, Rose is a teenager with mold -given abilities of her own under government protection.
441
But more happens before
442
Rose grows up.
443
Which brings us to Resident Evil Requiem, set in October 2026, 28 years after Raccoon City was wiped off the map.
444
The lead is Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst sent to look into a string of strange deaths among people who survived Raccoon City.
445
And that last name should sound familiar because the woman who raised her is Alyssa Ashcroft, the reporter from The Outbreak Games.
446
The case sends
447
Grace to a run -down hotel on the edge of the Raccoon City ruins,
448
the same place her mother was murdered eight years earlier chasing a story of her own.
449
Digging in, Grace finds that Alyssa hid something there before she died.
450
Files that point straight at what got her killed.
451
But before she can get far, she's taken by the people behind those deaths.
452
Victor Gideon, an ex -Umbrella scientist, chasing Spencer's old research, and the man who murdered Alyssa,
453
and Zeno, an executive operative for the connections.
454
Meanwhile, Leon is working that same string of deaths from his own end.
455
He's almost 30 years on from the first night in Raccoon City, still cleaning up bioweapon messes for the government,
456
and quietly carrying a dormant strain of the T -virus that's finally, after all this time, catching up with him.
457
Victor Gideon?
458
I don't know.
459
Well, we should leave.
460
Their paths cross and both lead to the same place, the Ark, a hidden umbrella lab deep under the ruins,
461
holding Oswell Spencer's final project, Alpus.
462
Gideon and Zeno are sure it's the ultimate bioweapon and that they need
463
Grace to unlock it.
464
It's down there that she finally plays her mother's recording an old interview with a guilt -ridden spencer
465
and learns the truth about herself elissa wasn't her birth mother grace was an orphan
466
that a dying spencer took in to atone for everything he'd done then handed to elissa to raise
467
and in that interview he calls her his hope
468
which turns out to be the exact password that is needed to release elpis she's adorable
469
What's her name?
470
Grace.
471
Grace.
472
Is there anything else you'd like to tell me?
473
I've said my piece.
474
I only hope it serves as a requiem for those who have passed.
475
So, Grace cracks it open.
476
Leon half dead and not trusting what's down there had her promise to destroy Elpis
477
but Grace realizes it was never a weapon at all at the end of his life with so much regret
478
Spencer had built Elpis as an antidote something meant to neutralize the viruses he'd spent his whole life funding
479
so instead of destroying it she releases it Zeno grabs it,
480
believing it's the super weapon he was promised and injects himself on the spot, only for it to strip the infection right out of him.
481
It's the cure, not the weapon.
482
Gideon, watching his prize turn out to be worthless to him, turns on Zeno and mutates for one last stand.
483
Leon is nearly gone, his own Raccoon City infection finally taking him.
484
So Grace uses Elvis on him, which saves his life and puts him back on his feet, just in time to put down Gideon.
485
And with that, Leon and Grace survived the ruins of Raccoon City, with the one thing
486
Spencer ever built that was actually for good.
487
And that's Resident Evil's story for now.
488
A lot to cover I know, so if this finally made the series easier to understand,
489
and you've got another franchise tangled up in your mind like
490
Dragon Ball, I did the exact same thing for that.
