Lección 54 · Etapa 4: Tiempos verbales y modales
Future continuous
IntermedioForma y uso
will be + -ing — una acción en curso en un momento del futuro
1.Forma
El future continuous = will be + verbo-ing, igual para todos los sujetos. Formas contraídas: I'll be, she'll be; negativa won't be.
| Estructura | Ejemplo | |
|---|---|---|
| Afirmativa | S + will be + V-ing | I'll be working. |
| Negativa | S + won't be + V-ing | She won't be coming. |
| Pregunta | Will + S + be + V-ing? | Will you be using the car? |
| Respuesta corta | Yes, S will. / No, S won't. | Yes, I will. / No, I won't. |
En una pregunta, solo will va delante del sujeto; be se queda detrás: Will you be working? (no: Will be you working?).
2.Cuándo se usa
1. Una acción en curso en un momento del futuro: this time tomorrow, at eight tonight, when you arrive…
This time tomorrow, I'll be sitting on a plane to Seoul.
Don't come at nine — the baby will be sleeping.
When you land, I'll be waiting at the arrivals gate.
I'll be working all weekend, so I can't go out.
Lan will be travelling around Europe for the whole of July.
We'll be landing in Da Nang in about twenty minutes.
I'll be seeing Huy at work tomorrow, so I can give him the book.
Will you be using your laptop this afternoon? Mine's broken.
¿Vas a usar tu portátil esta tarde? El mío está roto.
Will you be staying for dinner?
¿Te quedas a cenar?
Will you be + -ing? solo pregunta por los planes, así que suena suave, sin presión. Will you + verbo? suele ser una petición o una invitación. Compara: Will you come to the party? (te invito) — Will you be coming to the party? (te pregunto si piensas venir).
Don't call Mai now — she'll be driving home.
No llames a Mai ahora: estará volviendo a casa en coche.
3.¿Will be -ing o will + verbo?
When you get here, we'll be eating.
Cuando llegues, estaremos comiendo. (habremos empezado antes de que llegues)
When you get here, we'll eat.
Cuando llegues, comeremos. (empezaremos cuando llegues)
I'm thirsty. — Wait, I'll get you some water.
Tengo sed. — Espera, te traigo agua. (un ofrecimiento → will + verbo)
| Momento | Frase | Tiempo verbal |
|---|---|---|
| ayer a las 9 | At nine yesterday, Nam was teaching. | past continuous |
| ahora (las 9) | It's nine now. Nam is teaching. | presente continuo |
| mañana a las 9 | At nine tomorrow, Nam will be teaching. | future continuous |
- Los verbos de estado (know, want, like, believe…) no suelen usarse en esta forma: I'll know the results tomorrow (no: will be knowing).
- Después de when, while, until, as soon as…, usa el presente aunque hables del futuro: When you arrive, I'll be waiting (no: will arrive); mira la lección “Oraciones temporales de futuro”.
