Lição 54 · Etapa 4: Tempos verbais e modais
Future continuous
IntermédioForma e uso
will be + -ing — uma ação em andamento em um momento do futuro
1.Forma
O future continuous = will be + verbo-ing, igual para todos os sujeitos. Formas contraídas: I'll be, she'll be; negativa won't be.
| Estrutura | Exemplo | |
|---|---|---|
| Afirmativa | S + will be + V-ing | I'll be working. |
| Negativa | S + won't be + V-ing | She won't be coming. |
| Pergunta | Will + S + be + V-ing? | Will you be using the car? |
| Resposta curta | Yes, S will. / No, S won't. | Yes, I will. / No, I won't. |
Numa pergunta, só o will vai antes do sujeito; o be fica depois dele: Will you be working? (não: Will be you working?).
2.Quando usar
1. Uma ação em andamento num momento do futuro — this time tomorrow, at eight tonight, when you arrive…
This time tomorrow, I'll be sitting on a plane to Seoul.
Don't come at nine — the baby will be sleeping.
When you land, I'll be waiting at the arrivals gate.
I'll be working all weekend, so I can't go out.
Lan will be travelling around Europe for the whole of July.
We'll be landing in Da Nang in about twenty minutes.
I'll be seeing Huy at work tomorrow, so I can give him the book.
Vou ver o Huy no trabalho amanhã, então posso entregar o livro para ele.
Will you be using your laptop this afternoon? Mine's broken.
Você vai usar o seu notebook hoje à tarde? O meu quebrou.
Will you be staying for dinner?
Você vai ficar para o jantar?
Will you be + -ing? só pergunta sobre planos, então soa gentil, sem pressão. Will you + verbo? geralmente é um pedido ou um convite. Compare: Will you come to the party? (convidando você) — Will you be coming to the party? (perguntando se você pretende ir).
5. Supor o que alguém está fazendo agora
Don't call Mai now — she'll be driving home.
3.Will be -ing ou will + verbo?
Will be -ing = a ação vai estar em andamento naquele momento (começou antes e continua depois).
When you get here, we'll be eating.
Quando você chegar, vamos estar comendo. (já teremos começado antes de você chegar)
When you get here, we'll eat.
Quando você chegar, a gente come. (vamos começar quando você chegar)
I'm thirsty. — Wait, I'll get you some water.
Estou com sede. — Espera, vou pegar uma água para você. (uma oferta → will + verbo)
| Momento | Frase | Tempo verbal |
|---|---|---|
| 9 horas de ontem | At nine yesterday, Nam was teaching. | passado contínuo |
| agora (9 horas) | It's nine now. Nam is teaching. | presente contínuo |
| 9 horas de amanhã | At nine tomorrow, Nam will be teaching. | future continuous |
- Verbos de estado (know, want, like, believe…) normalmente não são usados nesta forma: I'll know the results tomorrow (não: will be knowing).
- Depois de when, while, until, as soon as…, use o presente mesmo falando do futuro: When you arrive, I'll be waiting (não: will arrive) — veja a lição “Orações temporais no futuro”.
4.Erros comuns
