Future continuous

Future Continuous = will be + กริยาเติม -ing ใช้เหมือนกันกับทุกประธาน รูปย่อ: I'll be, she'll be ปฏิเสธ won't be

ในคำถาม มีแค่ will ที่ย้ายไปหน้าประธาน ส่วน be อยู่หลังประธานเหมือนเดิม: Will you be working? (ไม่ใช่: Will be you working?)

1. การกระทำที่กำลังดำเนินอยู่ในช่วงเวลาหนึ่งในอนาคต — this time tomorrow, at eight tonight, when you arrive…

• This time tomorrow, I'll be sitting on a plane to Seoul.

  เวลานี้พรุ่งนี้ ฉันจะนั่งอยู่บนเครื่องบินไปโซล

• Don't come at nine — the baby will be sleeping.

  อย่ามาตอนสามทุ่มนะ — ตอนนั้นลูกกำลังหลับอยู่

• When you land, I'll be waiting at the arrivals gate.

  ตอนที่เครื่องคุณลงจอด ฉันจะรออยู่ที่ประตูผู้โดยสารขาเข้า

2. การกระทำที่ดำเนินต่อเนื่องตลอดช่วงเวลาหนึ่งในอนาคต

• I'll be working all weekend, so I can't go out.

  ฉันต้องทำงานทั้งสุดสัปดาห์ เลยออกไปไหนไม่ได้

• Lan will be travelling around Europe for the whole of July.

  ลานจะเที่ยวรอบยุโรปตลอดเดือนกรกฎาคม

3. สิ่งที่จะเกิดขึ้นอยู่แล้วตามกำหนดการปกติ — น้ำเสียงเป็นกลาง ไม่เน้นความตั้งใจ ใช้บ่อยในประกาศ

• We'll be landing in Da Nang in about twenty minutes.

  อีกประมาณยี่สิบนาที เราจะลงจอดที่ดานัง

• I'll be seeing Huy at work tomorrow, so I can give him the book.

  พรุ่งนี้ฉันจะเจอฮุยที่ทำงานอยู่แล้ว เลยเอาหนังสือให้เขาได้

4. ถามถึงแผนของคนอื่นอย่างสุภาพ — มักใช้ก่อนขอความช่วยเหลือ

• Will you be using your laptop this afternoon? Mine's broken.

  บ่ายนี้คุณจะใช้แล็ปท็อปไหม ของฉันเสีย

• Will you be staying for dinner?

  คุณจะอยู่กินข้าวเย็นด้วยไหม

💡Will you be + -ing? แค่ถามถึงแผน จึงฟังนุ่มนวล ไม่กดดัน ส่วน Will you + กริยา? มักเป็นการขอร้องหรือการชวน เทียบกัน: Will you come to the party? (ชวนคุณ) — Will you be coming to the party? (ถามว่าคุณมีแผนจะมาไหม)

5. เดาว่าใครบางคนกำลังทำอะไรอยู่ตอนนี้

• Don't call Mai now — she'll be driving home.

  อย่าเพิ่งโทรหาไมตอนนี้ — เธอน่าจะกำลังขับรถกลับบ้านอยู่

Will be -ing = การกระทำจะกำลังดำเนินอยู่ในเวลานั้น (เริ่มก่อนหน้านั้นและยังทำต่อหลังจากนั้น) Will + กริยา = การกระทำเริ่มหรือเกิดขึ้นในเวลานั้น หรือเป็นการตัดสินใจ คำสัญญา หรือการเสนอ

• When you get here, we'll be eating.

  ตอนคุณมาถึง เราคงกำลังกินข้าวกันอยู่ (เราเริ่มกินก่อนคุณมาถึง)

• When you get here, we'll eat.

  พอคุณมาถึง เราค่อยกินข้าวกัน (เริ่มกินตอนคุณมาถึง)

• I'm thirsty. — Wait, I'll get you some water.

  หิวน้ำจัง — รอแป๊บ เดี๋ยวฉันไปเอาน้ำให้ (การเสนอ → will + กริยา)

• Stative verb (know, want, like, believe…) ปกติไม่ใช้รูปนี้: I'll know the results tomorrow (ไม่ใช่: will be knowing)
• หลัง when, while, until, as soon as… ให้ใช้ปัจจุบันแม้จะพูดถึงอนาคต: When you arrive, I'll be waiting (ไม่ใช่: will arrive) — ดูบทเรียน “อนุประโยคบอกเวลาในอนาคต”

  ขาด be
