“Was going to”

was/were going to + กริยา — แผนในอดีต ซึ่งมักไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นจริง
1.รูปประโยค
Was / were going to + กริยารูปเดิม คือการย้าย going to ไปไว้ในอดีต: สิ่งที่ตอนนั้นตั้งใจจะทำหรือคาดว่าจะเกิดขึ้น

เวลาพูดเร็ว going to มักฟังเหมือน gonna: I was gonna call you ควรฟังให้ออก แต่ในงานเขียน (ข้อสอบ อีเมลงาน) ให้เขียนเต็มว่า going to
2.ใช้เมื่อไร
1. แผนในอดีตที่ไม่ได้เกิดขึ้น — มักตามด้วย but
I was going to cook tonight, but I got home too late.
คืนนี้ฉันตั้งใจจะทำกับข้าว แต่กลับบ้านดึกเกินไป
We were going to have a picnic, but it poured all afternoon.
เราตั้งใจจะไปปิกนิกกัน แต่ฝนเทลงมาทั้งบ่าย
I wasn't going to buy anything, but the shoes were on sale.
ฉันไม่ได้ตั้งใจจะซื้ออะไรเลย แต่รองเท้าคู่นั้นลดราคา
2. การคาดการณ์ที่ทำไว้ในอดีต — ตอนนั้นดูเหมือนจะเกิดขึ้นแน่ (ภายหลังอาจเกิดหรือไม่เกิดก็ได้)
Everyone knew the final was going to be close.

ภาษาไทยพูดว่า “ฉันว่าจะโทรหาคุณ แต่ลืม” โดยคำว่า “จะ” ไม่เปลี่ยนรูป จึงมักพลาดเป็น “I am going to call you, but I forgot.” ถ้าแผนเป็นของอดีต (but I forgot) going to ก็ต้องย้ายไปเป็นอดีตด้วย: I was going to call you, but I forgot.

Was going to เน้นแผนหรือความตั้งใจที่มีอยู่แล้ว ส่วน would หลัง said / promised เน้นคำสัญญาหรือการคาดการณ์ หลายครั้งใช้ได้ทั้งคู่: He said he was going to fix it. / He said he would fix it.
4.ข้อผิดพลาดที่พบบ่อย
I was go to call you, but I forgot.I was going to call you, but I forgot.
รูปเต็มคือ was going to + กริยา

แผนในอดีต → were ไม่ใช่ are

to ตรงนี้ไม่ตามด้วย -ing
