Present perfect

Intermedio

Forma e uso

have/has + participio passato — un’azione passata che conta ancora adesso

1.Forma

Il present perfect = have / has + participio passato (V3). Usa has con he / she / it e con i sostantivi singolari, e have con tutti gli altri soggetti. Nel parlato si contrae quasi sempre: I've, you've, she's, they've.

I / you / we / theyhe / she / it
AffermativaI've finished.She's finished.
NegativaI haven't finished.She hasn't finished.
DomandaHave you finished?Has she finished?
Risposta breveYes, I have. / No, I haven't.Yes, she has. / No, she hasn't.

's può essere is oppure has. Se dopo c'è un participio passato, è has: She's gone = She has gone. Ma She's going = She is going.

GruppoEsempi (V1 – V2 – V3)
V2 e V3 sono ugualibuy – bought – bought, have – had – had, make – made – made, tell – told – told, find – found – found
Il V3 finisce in -n / -ensee – saw – seen, eat – ate – eaten, take – took – taken, write – wrote – written, ride – rode – ridden, fly – flew – flown
i – a – udrink – drank – drunk, swim – swam – swum, begin – began – begun, sing – sang – sung
Il V3 è uguale al V1come – came – come, become – became – become, run – ran – run, put – put – put
Casi particolaribe – was/were – been, go – went – gone, do – did – done

Dopo have / has serve sempre il V3, non il past simple: She has gone (non has went), I've eaten (non have ate).

  • I've lost my keys. I can't get into the house.

Ho perso le chiavi. Non riesco a entrare in casa.

  • Someone has eaten my cake!

Qualcuno ha mangiato la mia torta!

  • The price of rice has gone up a lot.

Il prezzo del riso è aumentato molto.

2. Notizie e cose appena successe, spesso con just

  • Guess what? Lan has passed her driving test!

Sai una cosa? Lan ha passato l'esame di guida!

  • The bus has just left. We'll have to wait for the next one.

L'autobus è appena partito. Dovremo aspettare il prossimo.

3. Esperienze fino a oggi: have you ever…

  • Have you ever been to Hoi An?

Sei mai stato a Hoi An?

  • I've never eaten frog legs.

  • This is the first time I've driven a car.

(non: the first time I drive)

4. Un periodo di tempo non ancora finito: today, this week, this year, so far…

  • I've had three cups of coffee today.

Oggi ho bevuto tre tazze di caffè. (la giornata non è finita)

  • We haven't had much rain so far this year.

    Finora quest'anno ha piovuto poco.

5. Una situazione iniziata nel passato e ancora vera, con for, since, How long…?

  • We've lived in this flat since 2019.

Viviamo in questo appartamento dal 2019. (non: We live here since 2019)

  • How long have you known Minh?

    Da quanto tempo conosci Minh?

  • They've been married for ten years.

L'inglese invece cambia il verbo: I have lived here for five years (non I live here five years).

4.Gone o been

Go ha due participi con significati diversi: has gone (to) = è andato e non è ancora tornato (è lì o sta andando); has been (to) = ci è andato ed è tornato, usato spesso per le esperienze.

  • Mai isn't here. She's gone to the post office.

Mai non c'è. È andata all'ufficio postale. (non è ancora tornata)

  • I've been to the post office. Here are your stamps.

Sono stato all'ufficio postale. Ecco i tuoi francobolli.

  • Have you ever been to Japan?

    Sei mai stato in Giappone?

5.Present perfect o past simple?

Se la frase contiene un tempo concluso (yesterday, last week, in 2019, three days ago, when I was a child), usa il past simple, non il present perfect, anche se il risultato c'è ancora.

Present perfectPast simple
I've lost my phone.I lost my phone yesterday.
Have you ever been to Da Lat?When did you go to Da Lat?
She's worked here since 2020.She worked here from 2018 to 2020.

Just / already / yet / ever hanno una lezione tutta loro, “Il present perfect con just / already / yet / ever”, e for / since / ago si trovano in “For / since / ago”.

6.Errori comuni

  • I live here since I was a child.

I have lived here since I was a child.

since (da allora fino a ora) vuole il present perfect.

  • She has went home.

    She has gone home.

has + V3 (gone), non il past simple.

  • I have seen him yesterday.

    I saw him yesterday.

yesterday è un tempo concluso → past simple.

  • How long do you know Minh?

How long have you known Minh?

Chiedere da quanto tempo, fino a ora → present perfect.

  • This is the first time I visit Hue.

This is the first time I've visited Hue.

Dopo this is the first time si usa il present perfect.

  • He have finished his homework.

    He has finished his homework.

    he/she/it → has.

Esempi

  • We have lived in this flat since 2019.
  • I haven't finished the report yet.
  • My parents have never been abroad.
  • My sister has just bought a new laptop.
