Countable and uncountable nouns
a car, two cars vs water, advice, information — a/an과 복수 -s가 붙는 명사
|---|---|---|
| 예 | a book, an egg, a chair, a job | water, rice, money, music, advice |
| a / an | 씀: a book | 안 씀(a water가 아님) |
| 숫자와 함께 | three eggs | 단위를 씀: three bottles of water |
| some / any | some eggs, any eggs | some rice, any rice |
How many …? | How much …? |
The eggs are fresh. | The rice is ready. |
How many eggs do we need?
How much money do you have?
영어에서 단위어가 필요한 것은 셀 수 없는 명사뿐입니다(a bowl of rice, a piece of advice). 셀 수 있는 명사는 a/an이나 숫자 바로 뒤에 옵니다: a table, two chairs.
- 생각과 추상적인 것: advice, information, news, help, music, weather, fun, work, progress
Can you give me some advice?

|---|---|
| advice | a tip, a suggestion |
| luggage | a bag, a suitcase |
| furniture | a chair, a table, a sofa |
| work | a job, a task |
| travel | a trip, a journey |
단위어 + of를 씁니다: a piece of, a glass of, a cup of, a bottle of, a bowl of, a slice of, a loaf of, a kilo of, a bar of. 둘 이상일 때는 단위어에 -s를 붙입니다: two cups of tea.
Let me give you a piece of advice.
I'd like two cups of tea, please.
