1
Today is my first full day in Sydney, Australia.
2
And in this video, we are going to leave the famous city center and explore a completely different site of Sydney.
3
Apparently, once you leave the city center, the city starts to feel very different.
4
So today, I want to take the ferry across the harbor, explore some of Sydney's beachside neighborhoods,
5
try some local food, and see what the city is like away from all the famous tourist spots.
6
This is a site of Sydney that most tourists never see.
7
But Sydney is huge, and i have never been here before
8
and i have no idea how easy it's going to be
9
to explore these parts of the city on my own
10
or what to expect there oh man i don't know where i ended up here
11
so what is sydney really like beyond the famous city center
12
and how different will it feel join me and let's find out okay
13
and we are starting our day here in the famous city center of sydney
14
which we are going to leave now i'm currently in a park here
15
and there's a very interesting looking bird here i think i've
16
never seen this type of bird before looks quite funny with the long mouth
17
and i don't know why
18
but for some reason i was also not expecting to see palm trees in the middle of sydney
19
and yeah in order to leave this city center now i want to take the ferry
20
so we have to get to the ferry terminal first
21
which is right next to the opera house
22
and i think we can take the metro to get there
23
so let's see how easy it is to use the metro
24
here as a foreign tourist okay i'm currently in the area
25
which i explored already in my previous video when i arrived here
26
and i see a big m over there i think
27
that is a metro station although i'm not sure
28
if i can just take any metro from any station to
29
get to the opera house maybe we have a map here
30
oh what's going on here looks like somebody is living here
31
but i just want to have a look at the map here see
32
if i can figure this out i don't even know where
33
i am at the moment i think somewhere here martin place maybe
34
and circular gray that's where i want to go you are here park street huh
35
it also smells pretty bad here let's see
36
if there's somebody i can actually talk to that's maybe easier
37
but i don't see any staff around here i actually think
38
that from here i can't get to circular crane
39
because in order to get there like the lines are thinner
40
than the thick lines okay i think i can't take the metro from this station
41
but i think there's another metro station like one
42
or two blocks away from here okay to be honest i am a bit confused now
43
because i see plenty of metro lines here on google maps exactly where i'm standing now
44
but i don't see any entrance to a metro station i
45
am confused maybe there's an entrance in this building right here
46
let's have a look i was in this building already yesterday in my arrival video
47
but i actually don't remember
48
if there was a metro downstairs lower ground town hall station i think
49
that could be a metro station the sign would match at
50
least oh it smells extremely delicious here like apple pie
51
or something similar huh i don't see a metro station here
52
either maybe i have to go one more down no
53
that looks like a like a supermarket down there where's the
54
metro station this is where the nice smell is coming from lüneburger german bakery oh
55
that is interesting oh
56
that looks like a like a proper german bakery i am very surprised to see
57
that ah german britian german bread rolls german bread i really miss
58
that but yeah i'm not here today to eat german bread we're gonna have australian food later on
59
but first i need to find the metro station now all right i found it town hall
60
that looks like the entrance of a huge metro station actually
61
and yeah do i need to buy a ticket um at
62
the airport train station i could just tap my card
63
so i would assume i could do the same here let me figure out
64
which line i need to take first
65
because i think there are plenty of lines here
66
so i need to go to here that's where we want to go circular cray
67
or key i'm not sure how to pronounce it
68
so l2 the red one okay let's see
69
if i can just use my card again oh
70
that works okay by the way i used this card also in the previous video for the airport train
71
and until now there was no charge on my credit card
72
so i actually still don't know how much i paid oh
73
man this is confusing what did i say l2 red how
74
do i know where is l2 red ah i see some lines right here
75
but not l2 red so where's l2 red i have to say it always surprises me
76
that in every western country the lack of service staff around like
77
if you're traveling in asia and basically every asian country there's always
78
so much stuff around to ask but here i don't see anyone working here
79
so traveling in western country requires a bit more being proactive
80
yourself you know same over there i don't see l2 red
81
okay now i'm confused i walked through the whole station now
82
and i haven't seen a single sign with the red l2
83
line oh it's actually not even on the on the signs
84
here anymore ah here we go again ken abroad getting lost
85
in metro stations nothing new on this channel right excuse me
86
do you work here yes I'm trying to get to the
87
opera house with platform six on the right two stops circular key but from six on the right
88
okay sounds easy thank you okay not from six on the right side
89
but that is not the line I had a mind
90
but okay let's trust this guy and see
91
if we end up at the right place oh yes yes the station as well circular train 48 works as well, it seems like.
92
Alright, and here is the train already.
93
Literally a minute later, I would say it looks identical to the train I took from the airport to get here.
94
Maybe these are just the regular metro trains here in the city.
95
Alright, let's get onto the train.
96
So we have two floors here even.
97
The upper and the lower floor.
98
Oh, and check it out.
99
We have like single seats here almost.
100
Two seats facing each other.
101
And the guy said, I think two stations, right?
102
And literally five minutes later and we have arrived.
103
And by the way, the voice says circular key
104
so i think i was pronouncing it wrong the whole time actually all right
105
and here we are and yeah i'm not sure
106
if every metro train in sydney looks like this this looks more
107
and feels more like a proper train but very nice very clean comfortable
108
and yeah now just tap in the card again
109
and now i'm out
110
but still have no idea how much i paid for it
111
right now there's only one charge on my credit card of one australian dollar
112
but i'm pretty sure that can't be the cost of the ride so
113
if you're from sydney please let me know in the comments
114
how much you have to pay to use the metro
115
and i'm still wondering
116
if i can still see a charge at some point in
117
the next hours on my credit card anyway we are at the wharf area now
118
so i think there are different stations basically wharf 4 wharf 3
119
and so on
120
and yeah i want to take the ferry now to a completely different part of sydney
121
which is called manly and
122
that part has been recommended to me by sydney locals actually by several locals
123
so i think it is a popular spot
124
or it is a known spot for the locals
125
but yeah most of the tourists who are coming to sydney
126
they stay in this area the city center we have the
127
opera house right behind here i'm curious to see a more
128
local side of the city oh that's actually a signboard here
129
which wharf um oh i don't see oh there's manly traveling to manly at wharf number three
130
which wharf is this is this number three ah it is number three okay
131
so how do i get a ticket then maybe i can
132
ask for help here excuse me hello yes i'm trying to
133
get to manly yeah next to me the man in black the man in black yeah okay
134
so this is the right uh yeah yeah okay thank you
135
all right he said meet the man in black right do
136
i just need to tap here again hi i'm trying to get to manly yep this is the right spot
137
so i just need to tap the ticket yep
138
and how much is it so
139
if you tap your credit card it will be only 9 .65 all day round two
140
and if i want to get back it's the same ferry back to here yeah you can stay on board
141
or you can jump oh yeah i wanna i wanna leave in manly yeah
142
so i can leave there yeah yeah every half an hour okay
143
so the next one is in seven minutes how many minutes
144
does it take to manly 25 25 minutes okay all right
145
then let's tap the card again actually a very easy system
146
if you just can tap your credit card everywhere you don't
147
need to buy like physical paper tickets you know all right
148
and we're boarding the ferry and yes i'm really on the right one let's see
149
if we can maybe sit outside i think
150
that would be even better maybe in the end even we can go upstairs i think
151
that is great it's a very sunny and cool day
152
so why not sit outside maybe i'm just going to sit right here
153
and then we're gonna have a beautiful view to this area once we depart the harbour
154
and yeah why i want to leave the city center
155
so i watched a few youtube videos about sydney before i
156
came here i skipped through a few of the videos
157
that were made here and all of the videos
158
that i saw all showed the same area the area around
159
the opera house here the city center i'm always curious to
160
also look behind the famous city centers see a more local side of the city
161
so today i'm trying to find out how is sydney in the local areas beyond the famous city center
162
and that's why i'm so curious to explore manly today
163
so yeah now you can see the city center behind us
164
and we also have a huge cruise ship on the right
165
side i actually have never been on a cruise before
166
and i thought about going on one to film a video about it
167
but i'm not sure if will be interesting content for you
168
so maybe let me know in the comments
169
and yeah this view is now quite symbolic for this video
170
because we are literally leaving the famous area of sydney behind us now and we're heading to another area around there
171
okay and to show you the journey on the map
172
so the opera house right here
173
and then we are cruising through the bay basically to manly up here so
174
that is the journey on the map on this side here i think over there we have the open ocean
175
so if you sail out of the bay here then yeah the whole world is in front of you basically
176
and it's actually pretty windy up here
177
and a bit shaky to walk around all right
178
and i think we have arrived i think the pier is over there
179
and yeah this is the manly area we also have quite a few small boats parking here in the bay
180
and i do think
181
that sydney has quite a few of smaller base similar like this spread around the whole area so
182
if you have a look at sydney on google maps for
183
example you can see a little base like this all around basically
184
and yeah that was a lovely 20 minute ferry ride to get here okay
185
and here we are back on land okay
186
so no tap off needed on this service i understand that as i I don't have to tap my credit card again.
187
So yeah, for total, what did he say? think nine dollar you get a 20 25 minute ferry ride
188
that was actually quite enjoyable with a nice breeze in my face nice views okay
189
and here we are now in manly
190
and yeah i have two specific places in mind now
191
that i would like to see the first one is the manly beach
192
which i think is on the other side
193
so i have to walk a few blocks to get there
194
and then the second place is a nice viewpoint from where i think we can even see the city center
195
and the skyline
196
and along the way i also like to try some food oh yeah here we have a map actually
197
so you are here
198
and then the manly beach is right here i think the viewpoint is somewhere up here
199
and i think there's like a pedestrian walking street
200
that we can walk along now
201
and yeah i also want to explore around the residential areas
202
a bit to get a feeling for what it must be
203
like to live in this area look at this bird right here
204
that looks like a almost like a chicken like a large chicken
205
so funny in australia you just have random large birds walking around similar to the one
206
that we saw at the beginning of the video you know what would be cool
207
but i think quite impossible to see a kangaroo i mean probably the most famous animal from australia
208
but i doubt that you can see them just hopping around sydney okay
209
so this is what the walking street here is looking like very beautiful with the trees
210
and i can see a glimpse of the ocean already in the background
211
and yeah it's definitely not a quiet area
212
but as far as i can judge
213
that i don't hear like many foreign tourists around here like
214
in city center you hear all these languages from all around the world you don't hear
215
that here so i think this is an area
216
which is popular for locals but not necessarily for foreign tourists who are visiting sydney
217
and there's actually a frozen yogurt shop here called yochi
218
and i have been told this is a very famous
219
and popular frozen yogurt store here in australia the owners are also from australia
220
so let's check it out i'm curious to give it a try okay
221
so this is what it's looking light very old here oh there's a long line here
222
and i think it's like a self -service store
223
so i think you can choose your own toppings here as far as i can judge
224
that insert hands below for magic powers are basically sanitizing the hands okay
225
and then yeah i think you have to choose your flavor you basically put it in the cup yourself
226
and then you can top it off with whatever makes you happy
227
and then weigh and pay okay we have eight different flavors vanilla Strawberry, Acai, Mango, Chokie, Coconut, Raspberry, Signature Tart, and Salted Fattah Scotch.
228
I'm difficult to choose.
229
I think I'm gonna take the Strawberry, Raspberry one, maybe also the Signature Tart, I think you can mix them.
230
Do you want to try any flavors?
231
Alright, it's my first time here, I have no idea about the flavors.
232
You can either bring a bowl or a cone, and then put any of the flavors on, and then you can...
233
And I can mix, right?
234
Yep, you can mix any of them, and then put toppings on.
235
It's all from waist by waist, so every 100 grams is $4.
236
Okay, cool.
237
Alright, so I think I'm choosing the cup here.
238
I can try first.
239
The coconut and the signature.
240
So you can get a small cup to try first.
241
Okay, thank you.
242
This one is the coconut.
243
The signature part is not really my taste.
244
Very buttery.
245
The coconut rest of the one is very nice.
246
I'm gonna take this one.
247
Ah, look at this.
248
Alright.
249
So I think what you wanna do is you wanna leave some space
250
because look at all the toppings here I think the toppings
251
are a major part of the experience here oh yes different nuts here oh we have cookie dough
252
that sounds delicious that is the first one I must try
253
and we have some fresh fruits as well let's also get some strawberries
254
and then we have candies we have M &M's we have Oreos coconut flakes chocolate chips
255
and i definitely also want to get sprinkles reminds me of my childhood
256
and here buttery mix of oats and cinnamon i love cinnamon i also love oats
257
and then we have different types of sauce here
258
and i see a brownie as well
259
and the dubai trend is also here in australia i don't want any of the sauce in this one
260
okay thank you okay so this is the bowl i'm having here we have the base
261
and then loads of toppings on top of it let me try the brownie actually first oh
262
and what a nice view with the palm tree behind us
263
the blue sky let's give it a bite the brownie is still warm
264
and super soft and such a nice flavor
265
and you know maybe let me get a big bite with
266
a lot of different flavors a lot of different toppings here we go the base
267
that i have the coconut raspberry is already very delicious just on its own
268
and then including all the the toppings
269
that i have the m &ms the sprinkles the the cinnamon oat crumble very nice
270
and now let me try the cookie dough
271
when i was younger my mom and me always enjoyed ben
272
and jerry's cookie dough ice cream maybe some of you know
273
that one that was our favorite ice cream when i was a child so cookie dough is always very nice
274
oh yeah you know what it reminds me of
275
when i was younger as well my mom
276
and me we used to do like baking like christmas cookies you know
277
and then i always like to eat the dough before we made the cookies you know
278
and just eating the cookie dough here reminds me really of childhood memories baking cookies with my mom
279
and then just eating the dough already oh very very nice i think i can understand why this is
280
so loved here by the locals and yeah it is a chain locally owned
281
so this is very delicious and was worth the money okay so
282
that was a great little sweet treatment i need to be
283
careful not to accidentally step into these mini water fountains here
284
but i'm also gonna have a proper meal later on
285
and i have to say i really love how colorful everything
286
is here like every building basically has a different color
287
and then the whole time all these beautiful palm trees around here
288
and overall i can also say it's a nice vibe here so far
289
so i'm having good first impressions yeah as you could see
290
i have been using my wise card all day already
291
and this card actually helps me to save money on my trips let me explain you how
292
so you can also save money so this is actually something
293
that most people don't even know about but
294
if you are traveling to a country
295
that has a different currency than your home country
296
and then you are using your local bank card from home many traditional banks charge hidden fees
297
and offer worse exchange rates compared to wise
298
because your home currency has to be converted into the local currency of the country you're visiting
299
and in most cases there's going to be a fee for
300
that and the conversion rates are usually not in your favor
301
and they can really add up over time especially
302
if you use your card a lot when you're traveling so
303
and in order to avoid that i am using my rice account
304
because with rice i can hold multiple currencies in one account
305
so i can easily convert my home currency
306
which in this case is the euro to different currencies within the rice app very quick
307
and easily it usually just takes a few seconds
308
so what i always do before every trip i convert some
309
euros into the local currency of the country i'm visiting
310
and then i can spend that local currency every single time i'm using my wise card
311
so that i don't have to pay a fee every time i use my card
312
and yeah setting up an account with wise is straightforward simple
313
and wise is very transparent you always see the fees in advance
314
so you know what you're paying and Weiss converts your money with the actual mid -market rate.
315
So if you are traveling and or paying internationally, I can highly recommend to get a Weiss account as well.
316
And if you use my link in the description or in the pinned comment, you can get a fee -free transfer on Weiss up to 500 Euro or a free card if you're new.
317
Just click the link down below and save money with Weiss on your next trip.
318
Okay, but before we're having more food, let's actually have a look at the beach and check this out.
319
Hotel Steyn, 1859.
320
1859 this must be a very historic old hotel or can you imagine people already staying here in
321
1859 that is incredible i wonder what the area was like back then all right
322
and here we have the beach something
323
that australia is very famous for its beaches
324
and this is quite a nice one it's very large actually much longer than i would have expected
325
so quite a long beachfront right here
326
and i also see people over there playing volleyball there are several volleyball fields
327
and over there i also see people surfing
328
that is probably a very australian thing to see people surfing
329
i mean australia is very known for surfing i think they
330
have plenty of great surfing spots all around the country
331
but wow i could not imagine going into
332
that water right now it is on the edge of being
333
too cold to walk around here with a t -shirt i would guess the water is definitely too cold
334
but i can see
335
that all of the surfers are wearing like uh wetsuits for good reasons i think
336
but yeah i think
337
when you grow up in sydney you you are growing up
338
being surrounded by beaches like said earlier there are plenty of beaches basically all around the city
339
so no matter where in sydney you live the beach probably is never far away
340
and if you are from sydney please let me know in the comments
341
if that's right is it like a very normal every weekend
342
activity like going to the beach going surfing hanging out by the beach
343
because i could imagine
344
if you're growing up here it is okay i found this sign here top 10 things to do in manly
345
and yeah as you can see there are lots of things
346
to do in this area here seems like you can even
347
go snorkeling at shelley beach i think some of the beaches
348
all around australia also are really known for snorkeling you can see a plenty of beautiful fish
349
and also like huge ones like sharks in some areas in australia
350
so that is actually something that the country is known for
351
but to be honest i was not expecting
352
that you can go snorkeling also like right in sydney
353
but there's actually something that i noticed which this beach doesn't have
354
which many beaches or i would say every beach in asia for example has and
355
that is street vendors like people walking around the beaches oh
356
all these birds here people walking around the beach like selling drinks selling fresh fruits
357
or little snacks you know and that would be actually something very nice here
358
but i don't see street vendors or street food cards at all here
359
so maybe that just isn't a thing here in australia so
360
if you want to have a snack
361
or drink something you always have to go back to the shops here okay
362
so i am a few blocks away from the beach now
363
and i think this is like it typical residential neighborhood very
364
beautiful houses here though there's also a church here australia is a predominantly christian country
365
so you have churches like this actually a lot i saw
366
plenty of them already at different locations in the city
367
and yeah i could imagine that living here is very quiet peaceful
368
and beautiful i mean the beach is just a few blocks away
369
but i think no matter where in sydney you live the beach is always
370
or a beach is always not far away
371
and maybe this a weird comparison
372
but in some ways the area around here reminds me of
373
the area around the miami beach maybe you saw my video from there
374
and then maybe you remember
375
when i was walking towards the famous miami beach the area
376
around there was also a residential area very posh residential area though
377
but similar vibes like here i would say
378
and yeah this is also a very cool area now
379
so i think these are all condo buildings here so residential buildings
380
and then if you have your apartment on this side
381
or the balcony you are straight looking to the beach
382
and the ocean over there very nice i would be curious what the prices in this area are like
383
if anyone of you watching knows about
384
that i would like to know how much is the rent
385
per month in one of these apartments here i would guess
386
it's probably on the pricier side of rents in sydney
387
but i could be also wrong i don't really know
388
and also here look at these birds over there looks like like exotic parrots it's
389
so funny what type of birds you see in sydney like this is the type of bird
390
that in my country germany you could only see in the zoo like exotic birds in a zoo
391
and here they are just chilling by the beach so funny oh
392
so beautiful birds as well
393
and they don't seem to be shy of humans at all
394
like look how close i can get to them have a look at that hello hello
395
i wonder what they're searching for maybe some some ducks
396
that they're trying to dig out
397
and then eat maybe something is falling off the tree
398
that they can eat okay now let's get a proper meal here
399
so there's manly ocean foods right across the beach
400
and yeah i want to try fish and chips
401
which i heard is very popular here in sydney so let's give it a try fresh and cooked seafood since
402
1959 so sounds like a place that has been around for a
403
while okay so it's literally only fishy of course
404
and also calamari i see here salmon octopus we even have a burger with fish maybe popcorn fish
405
and chips that sounds like a small snack or the classical one fish
406
and chips hi hello i would like the classical fish
407
and chips the better one yeah no no sauce no okay okay
408
and then you're gonna call the number yeah okay thank you all right
409
so 19 australian dollar for fish and chips i don't know
410
if that is expensive or not i could imagine the price is a bit higher here
411
because we are literally right in front of the beach all
412
right i picked up the food let me find a spot
413
now to sit down i think i can right over there all right
414
so this looks like a lovely place i think i have to be careful though of the seagulls here
415
because they will be very curious i think to steal my
416
french fries no yeah i actually just met some locals
417
and they told me that this shop is actually very famous
418
and well known all right and this is what it's looking like
419
and it actually looks like a huge portion
420
so we have two pieces of fish right here
421
and then a lot of rice underneath
422
and i think the first thing i need to do is squeeze the lemon over it
423
so right here and look at the view in front of me
424
that looks beautiful right the beach right over there the palm trees what a nice place to enjoy fish
425
and chips okay to be honest though i would usually associate fish
426
and chips more with the uk however
427
when i googled about the must try foods here in sydney this was on basically every list
428
so let me start with the french fries look they're actually
429
very thick i like thick fries like this much more than the small
430
and thin ones and they are very good also a lot of salt around it
431
but yeah now the main thing the fish
432
so this is the small piece right here let's try
433
that one first to be honest
434
if you know my videos you know i don't eat seafood often i'm not a huge seafood lover
435
but battered fish like this is actually quite delicious i think
436
out of all the seafoods this is one of my favorites
437
and yeah it tastes very light not heavy at all the
438
flavor of the fish itself is very good it also doesn't taste oily sometimes
439
when you eat like deep fried fish like this it tastes very oily
440
but that's not the case here
441
so i think this is a great meal especially with this view with this location
442
so let me finish this meal
443
and then we are also heading to this viewpoint from where
444
we can have a beautiful view over the city okay before
445
we're heading to the viewpoint i actually also want to find this one a finger bun
446
which several locals already now have recommended to me
447
and i have heard that basically every bakery sells these
448
so let's see if we can find a bakery
449
and give it a try okay i'm inside a side alley now
450
and there's the bakehouse here that should be a bakery right do i see it already
451
this looks similar as far as i can judge it
452
but not exactly the same i think oh they also extremely
453
good -looking cookies right here cookie boxes what is this me
454
ring i never heard this word before i don't know what it is
455
and lots and lots of cookies here
456
but i don't see any finger buns here hi do you have finger buns now this one is finger bun
457
but you don't sell them in single pieces i think this it is
458
but uh four pieces it's too much hi i'm ken yeah
459
that's me right can we get a photo nice to meet
460
you hello i'm just trying to eat a finger bun i
461
heard it's very popular do you want one are you sure yeah
462
because it's four pieces
463
and i only need one do you want one okay then
464
i get all four how much is it okay yeah then
465
we can share one finger bun for for everyone just tap
466
here yeah all right thank you very much are you from sydney yes yeah
467
so this is something that i have to try i was told is that right yeah i never tried it before
468
Not yet.
469
No. It's so funny.
470
Everyone asked me about my haircuts.
471
So, um, are these always looking like this or do they come with different toppings or flavors?
472
You can also get like sprinkles.
473
But this one's the most popular.
474
So it's basically just like a milk bun and then with sweet toppings.
475
Yeah.
476
Okay.
477
You're free.
478
Go ahead.
479
Okay.
480
I'll just get a bun.
481
I'll get the last one then.
482
So I guess it's gonna be very sweet.
483
Yeah.
484
Alright, so the famous Australian finger bun.
485
Okay, cheers guys.
486
What are your names?
487
Jonathan.
488
Jonathan or Max.
489
I'm Jamie.
490
Jamie.
491
Okay, nice to meet you.
492
Let's give it a try.
493
It's very sweet, yeah.
494
Very sweet.
495
And this cream, I can't really identify the flavor.
496
What do you think is the flavor?
497
It's got coconut on top.
498
Yeah, there's coconut on top as well.
499
Maybe strawberry, strawberry coconut.
500
But the bun itself is also already sweet, right?
501
But I would say it.
502
I can imagine, oh, I can see why this is so popular here.
503
It's a great snack, especially for children, I think.
504
But also as an adult, I can enjoy this.
505
And yeah, we do have a bus station here.
506
And I have been told that i can take the bus to this viewpoint
507
and i just spoke with some locals again and they told me
508
if i have a look on google maps i can actually
509
see the bus numbers bus 161 leaves in six minutes
510
and they told me it's leaving from the bus station right there
511
so that is actually good to know that
512
if i choose my destination on google maps google maps tells me even the bus number to take
513
so that makes it a pretty easy to use then
514
because yeah that viewpoint is a bit far to walk it would be like a 45 minute walk
515
so i think the bus should leave from here then let
516
me just uh oh i don't know how to uh read
517
this timetable to be honest i don't really know 161 42
518
but on google maps it says 40 but it also says though
519
that i have to still walk 15 minutes
520
so i think it doesn't i add the bus will drop me off here
521
and then we have to walk the rest
522
but i think that's okay okay the buses are running late
523
and i just heard that the bus is actually quite unreliable
524
so it happens often that the bus doesn't uh arrive on time they should be the last but it's like 7 42. so
525
if there's something to like wait for the next one that's
526
nice maybe there's another one coming in like what did you say 16 minutes
527
or so yeah yeah it should be okay
528
yeah she also just said
529
that she's worried it's going to rain we do have some dark looking clouds around us
530
that would ruin the the plans of seeing the the viewpoint
531
to be honest okay according to google maps the next one is coming at six
532
that would be in 13 minutes by now all right there's
533
161 coming a bit delayed though hi i would like to go to north hatch the viewpoint
534
no but according to the locals this is the right bus the wrong timing where are you going then
535
halfway yeah okay i will still take the bus
536
and then i see do i pay with my card just tap here
537
yeah yeah yeah so what is your last stop
538
station okay and then I figure out from there he said not not all the way
539
but I have to leave earlier okay that's okay all right
540
so seems like same in Germany the buses are not really punctual
541
or maybe I'm just having bad luck now
542
but yeah let's see where this bus stops
543
and then how I can get from there to the actual viewpoint maybe i will switch to an uber then
544
but yeah overall i have to say the bus looks
545
and feels very similar to the buses i'm used to in my own country germany
546
so there's probably not a huge difference
547
and yeah i think we have missed the sunset already
548
but maybe we can see a beautiful night view of the skyline then from the lookout
549
and yet to show you the journey on the map
550
so we are here now in manly
551
and i want to get to the viewpoint right here
552
so according to google maps the last station is right here
553
and then here i have to walk the rest of the
554
way yeah we are cruising through the residential areas now
555
and i'm a bit surprised how hilly it is here
556
so the area around manly seems to be quite hilly
557
and we have many of little roads here
558
and there with a lot of beautiful looking houses as well
559
the road goes through a lot of bush yeah it was
560
nice to meet you yeah okay do you need help to
561
get out here i help you i get this out let me get out first
562
and then i'll help you get out okay thank you
563
here we go okay thank you okay have a good trip
564
home yeah okay thank you bye -bye she was actually a
565
lovely old lady she talked to me the whole time i was sitting at the bus station
566
and she actually reminded me a lot of my own grandma
567
not too far 15 15 okay maybe 20 yeah okay let's see okay thank very much all right
568
so i feel like we are now in the middle of nowhere i'm not sure
569
if it was such a good idea to take the bus instead of an uber
570
which i think can actually take me all the way to
571
the viewpoint yeah most is a good idea i don't know
572
and in case you're wondering why i didn't just take an
573
uber you know i often like to try out local transportation
574
and see how it is to travel around the city like
575
a local that's why i often like to take metros
576
or buses ferries but yeah let's find out
577
if it was a good idea to still come to this viewpoint i hope though
578
so i don't know if you can see it
579
but in the distance i can still see a glimpse of the sun of sunlight
580
so maybe that will give us like a nice after sunset view
581
and i'm hoping to see like a nice skyline view in the night now
582
but which way do i have to go q station this way
583
or this road by the way i just realized it looks
584
way brighter on the camera than it does in reality like this camera has like a night mode
585
so it looks brighter than it actually is right here oh no i think i have to take
586
that right here
587
so yeah according to my google maps it's a 12 minute
588
walk now oh man this is literally a dark road now
589
huh okay it's six o 'clock it's not like in the middle of the night now
590
but it does feel a bit sketchy to walk here now
591
to be honest it's literally a dark road in front of me what am i doing here
592
so i really hope this viewpoint is worth it
593
and it's also getting quite uh chilly here now i should have brought a jacket to be honest oh man
594
and i definitely have some animals here in the bushes do they have dangerous animals here like bears
595
or something like that
596
but there's somebody coming with a flashlight maybe i can ask
597
them how long it is still to walk excuse me hi
598
i'm looking i'm trying to find the viewpoint right at the
599
end you're quite far away is it worth it at this
600
time uh probably not i'm not gonna lie i can see
601
the city the skyline okay it's not a dangerous area
602
or something like
603
that just be careful of the cars of the cars okay 10 minutes okay okay thanks a lot all right
604
so at least i didn't say anything about dangerous animals i
605
think i'm going to start walking a bit faster now
606
because i'm literally getting really cold now
607
and it's crazy how fast the sunlight disappears here like literally half an hour ago it was still very bright
608
and now i feel like i'm watching through the pitch dark night
609
and i really really hope
610
that i will be able to get an uber from there back to the city it's very quiet here now
611
and very cold now actually it calms me down to keep
612
talking to you feels like i'm here with somebody you know
613
i'm not being completely on my own in the middle of nowhere
614
but yeah to be honest i should have taken an uber
615
the bus was not a good idea oh man look at
616
the moon this is one of the brightest moons i have ever seen
617
and it seems to be full moon as well
618
that is actually super cool okay i'm using my light from the phone now
619
because without the light it's literally pitch pitch black
620
but the moon looks like almost the sun right but
621
that is actually the moon yeah i really really hope
622
that this viewpoint is worth it i'm actually also quite curious now to see it
623
and according to google maps it's another four minutes come on look at
624
that there's another bus stop here and it says number 169
625
so why didn't the bus drop me off here then
626
but i think that's what he meant
627
when i got into the bus right he said something about he's not going there anymore
628
but i think i do see some civilization again i think
629
there's a house here let's have a look at the sign here lookout toilets car park fairfax walk
630
so i think we're gonna go to look out 700 more meters sydney harbor national park all right okay
631
and i made it to the viewpoint
632
and yes i can see the skyline from here it looks pretty nice but was
633
that worth walking here in the cold i feel very cold
634
now to be honest i am not really sure about
635
that to be honest i could imagine though
636
that you actually can see a beautiful sunset from here
637
so i should have came here like an hour earlier i think
638
but that's how it goes sometimes not everything goes as planned on these travel days never let
639
that ruin your mood not everything has to go as planned
640
and it was a very enjoyable day i'm really happy
641
that i came to this side of sydney i mean
642
when you arrive here as a tourist you also have to see the famous city center the opera house etc
643
so i'm also happy that i did see that yesterday
644
when i arrived here which i showed you in the previous video
645
but now i'm also happy
646
that i saw this less touristy side of the city anyway i really hope
647
that i will be able to get an uber here now
648
and then in the next episode we're actually traveling to another
649
country it's gonna be a very very cool one it has
650
been on my bucket list for many many years already
651
so stay tuned for the next episode feel free to subscribe to the channel
652
if you haven't yet to follow the journey and
653
if you haven't seen my previous video arriving here in sydney getting my very first impressions
654
and feel free to check out the video right here go see the world yourself take care
655
and until next time all right and yes i am able to get an uber here yes right
656
it's pretty chilly out here
