First one
2
Good morning, this is a slightly different video today because we're not in the UK I am filming from La Rioja,
3
Spain Which is it's basically like a small region up in the north
4
it's it's quite famous for its wine i feel like usually
5
if people know larioja they know it for the wine
6
that they make here in particular red wine
7
but they also grow a lot of food as well
8
so they grow a lot of vegetables i love coming to larioja because the food here is so good
9
everything is so so fresh and I swear I eat vegetables here
10
and they just taste amazing so I thought
11
that today I could film what I eat in a day while I'm here in Spain.
12
Spain also have a very very different eating culture to us in the UK
13
so I thought it would be interesting to show you the times that we eat and what we eat and where.
14
I usually have to wait like a couple hours after I wake up to eat breakfast.
15
I'm just not hungry straight away.
16
So I have breakfast now.
17
This is an Española.
18
It's basically like a, it's almost like a cake covered in icing and you put butter inside.
19
This has butter from a nearby region called Soria and it's just so delicious.
20
Every single time I come to Spain we always have Españolas in the house.
21
I think it's because I really like them.
22
So yeah, we're going to start with this.
23
And then once I've eaten, there is an amazing coffee shop here, which I'm going to head to as well.
24
Obviously, I need an iced coffee.
25
Cheers.
26
This coffee here in Aki Cafe is the best.
27
It's probably my favorite iced caramel latte ever.
28
That's high praise.
29
That's a big compliment.
30
We have grabbed an iced coffee before we go to the shops.
31
Actually, this time, visiting Spain, is the first time I've been able to buy iced coffee.
32
Normally, people just buy like a hot latte and they pour the hot coffee over ice,
33
which is obviously not quite the iced caramel latte that I normally drink in the UK.
34
But now, they opened this new and yeah they they have iced caramel lattes
35
so now have everything I need we are now heading to
36
a few different shops um just to look around it is
37
so seriously hot today it's like 34 degrees I think and I feel bad for like all of the previous
38
videos where I said that it was hot in the UK
39
and now I realize that 24 degrees is really not that bad.
40
What is this?
41
Is this vermouth?
42
What time is it?
43
It's now quarter to three.
44
We have just been shopping.
45
We are now getting vermouth, which as far as I know is basically like it's a drink before lunch
46
and it's like a pre-lunch where you like maybe get a little plate of something
47
and you share it with other people and like have a chat
48
so we have ordered some like tempura battered peppers
49
which are on the way
50
and we have some bread on the table as well cheers
51
this will probably be the first of this will probably be
52
the first of many wines today there's like a like a 50 50 chance
53
that they're going to be spicy or not it's true that when when they're spicy they're Really spicy.
54
But they're very good.
55
Did you record it?
56
Yes, it's already recording.
57
Um...
58
Um...
59
Okay, first one.
60
Not spicy.
61
Many.
62
I think as you asked, you said, you didn't want some?
63
I've eaten two.
64
Ah, well, but I've eaten like six.
65
What?
66
It's been painful.
67
La desesperación.
68
After vermouth, we went back to the house.
69
And we were ready and sat down for lunch by around 3.30 p.m.
70
Spanish lunch is usually served in two courses.
71
So the first course is usually vegetables.
72
And the second course is meat.
73
For the first course we had this pumpkin soup and some peppers and also some cucumber as well.
74
This was all served with bread.
75
The second course is usually meat or fish.
76
I am vegetarian, so I don't eat meat, but I had these vegetarian sausages.
77
We also had some more peppers.
78
These peppers were homegrown, and you know, typically Spanish food is not very spicy,
79
but these peppers really had a kick.
80
like I think my spice tolerance is pretty good for a British woman
81
but these actually were quite hot but they were really really good I ate several of these
82
we we've just finished lunch
83
and now it's it's coming up to like the hottest few hours of the day which is around four till six o'clock.
84
I don't have any plans like I'm literally gonna sit down do a little bit of work
85
and maybe like edit a video or something like this.
86
This evening we have some plans to go and get some like small plates in a nearby city for dinner.
87
Until then I'm just gonna yeah chill chill out as well
88
good evening we are now in the capital of La Rioja
89
we are in Logroño it's around nine o'clock at night
90
and we're here to grab some dinner this evening we are
91
going to get pinchos in the city pinchos is basically like
92
small plates I think lots of people know tapas it's kind of like tapas
93
but in the north i think sorry spaniards i don't know
94
if they're gonna get mad at me for
95
that the plan is to go into the center
96
so you know i'll try my best to film
97
but it might be kind of busy so we'll see we'll see how it goes
98
the first place we are going to go to is like a like a mushroom restaurant i don't know
99
but that's where we're going first right now we are just walking over the bridge that's in the city here.
100
It's a very very warm night, it's very beautiful.
101
The first place we went to was the mushroom place and they cooked oyster mushrooms on a grill with this really,
102
really smoky garlic sauce.
103
You eat the mushrooms with these tiny little sticks, which could be a little bit difficult.
104
Sometimes it was a challenge, but they were absolutely delicious.
105
I love oyster mushrooms.
106
They are probably my favourite food.
107
I can't eat that on camera.
108
Si puedes, si puedes, hombre.
109
But I'm going to eat this like a pig.
110
We next went to another bar where they cooked more things on a grill.
111
I got sort of like a grilled tofu in a bun, in like a little bread bun.
112
This was so good as well.
113
And in each of these places, I got a small glass of white wine.
114
So people will usually buy a small beer or a small wine as they go between each of the bars.
115
I absolutely love Spanish wine, but I didn't want to drink in every single bar because I would be hammered.
116
So I decided to drink some waters in some places as well.
117
In this bar, which had a bit of a maritime theme, it had like an ocean sailor theme.
118
I just got a bottle of water and a courgette tomato and mozzarella toast.
119
They are going to give me a vegetarian option.
120
I think it's like bread with courgette and fresh tomato
121
so that's great but there are a lot of people here it's it's very difficult to film so
122
hopefully you can hear me okay.
123
And actually this was my favourite pincho of the night.
124
It was so so good.
125
Really simple but really delicious.
126
This street is really really popular and there were
127
so many people who were doing the exact same thing as us
128
and going to all of the bars and trying things in each place.
129
The most popular place was probably this one where they served mushroom skewers on bread.
130
So a skewer is like a long wooden stick.
131
The last thing that we got was a Spanish omelette
132
which is basically egg cooked with potato and onion and served with this spicy pepper sauce
133
but unfortunately I filmed all of this in slow motion so the video kind of sucks.
134
We just finished up at dinner and we're now heading back, back home.
135
The food was so good, hopefully I've been able to like give a bit of a voiceover and like an explanation but everything was so good.
136
It's now midnight, literally everyone has has gone home.
137
I think this is probably the end of the video because once I get back I'm heading to to bed.
138
Hopefully you enjoyed seeing like a little bit of my day from here in in Spain.
139
I have more videos like this on my channel so if you'd like to check them out please do.
140
I hope you have a lovely rest of your day and I'll see you in the next video.
141
Bye!
