Superlativos
PrincipianteSuperlatives
Forma y uso
the -est / the most … — lo más alto o lo más bajo de un grupo
1.Forma
Adjetivos cortos: the + -est; adjetivos largos: the most + adjetivo.
| Adjetivo | Comparativo | Superlativo |
|---|---|---|
| cheap | cheaper | the cheapest |
| nice | nicer | the nicest |
| big | bigger | the biggest |
| busy | busier | the busiest |
| expensive | more expensive | the most expensive |
| good / well | better | the best |
| bad / badly | worse | the worst |
| far | farther / further | the farthest / the furthest |

This is the most expensive restaurant on this street.
Recuerda el the: the tallest, the best; los estudiantes lo olvidan a menudo. Y, como con los comparativos, elige uno: -est o most, no los dos (no the most tallest).
2.Cuándo se usa
1. Lo más alto de un grupo (tres o más)
Sunday is the busiest day of the week at our café.
Who's the youngest in your family?

3. Uno de los mejores: one of the + superlativo + sustantivo en plural

4. El segundo, el tercero…: the second / the third + superlativo
Who got the second highest score in the class?
5. Con un posesivo, se quita the: my, your, Minh's… + superlativo
Nga is my oldest friend.
Nga es mi amiga más antigua.
This is Minh's best score so far.
| Estructura | -er / more … than | the -est / the most … (in / of) |
| Ejemplo | Lan is taller than her mother. | Lan is the tallest of the three sisters. |
Cuando solo hay dos, en un registro cuidado se usa the + comparativo + of the two (the taller of the two); al hablar, mucha gente usa igualmente el superlativo.
This hotel is cheaper than that one, but the hostel is the cheapest.
My eldest brother lives in Da Nang.

4.Después de un superlativo: in, of, ever
Para los detalles, mira “Superlativo + ever / in / of”.
Minh is the tallest boy in the class.
