Superlativo + ever / in / of

Intermedio

Superlative + ever / in / of

Forma y uso

the best … I've ever…, the biggest in the world, the most … of all

EstructuraSe usa paraEjemplos
in + …lugares; grupos y organizaciones (sustantivos en singular)the tallest building in the world, the best student in the class
of + …un número; sustantivos en plural; períodos de tiempothe cheapest of the three, the oldest of all, the happiest day of my life
(that) + sujeto + have ever + participio pasadotoda tu experiencia hasta ahorathe best film I've ever seen

2.¿In u of?

1. in + un lugar o un grupo

  • Ha Long Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

  • Phong is the funniest person in our class.

  • Grandma makes the best spring rolls in town.

  • Lan is the youngest of the four children.

  • This shop is the cheapest of all.

  • It was the happiest day of my life.

  • Tet is the busiest time of the year.

Para decir “el más … que he … nunca”, usa superlativo + sustantivo + (that) + sujeto + have/has ever + participio pasado. That normalmente se omite.

  • This is the best pizza I've ever eaten.

  • That was the worst film I have ever seen.

  • Who's the most famous person you've ever met?

  • It was the worst storm the town had ever seen.

  • Today was the best day ever!

= It's the biggest fish I've ever seen.

4.Énfasis: by far, one of the

By far delante de the + superlativo recalca “lo más, y nada se le acerca”. One of the + superlativo + sustantivo en plural es más suave: no dice que sea el número uno.

  • This is by far the best phone I've ever had.

  • It's one of the oldest cities in Vietnam.
