Lezione 41 · Tappa 3: Progetti, richieste e confronti
Superlativo + ever / in / of
IntermedioSuperlative + ever / in / of
Forma e uso
the best … I've ever…, the biggest in the world, the most … of all
|---|---|---|
| in + … | luoghi; gruppi e organizzazioni (sostantivi singolari) | the tallest building in the world, the best student in the class |
| of + … | un numero; sostantivi plurali; periodi di tempo | the cheapest of the three, the oldest of all, the happiest day of my life |
| (that) + soggetto + have ever + participio passato | tutta la tua esperienza fino a oggi | the best film I've ever seen |
2.In o of?
1. in + un luogo o un gruppo
Ha Long Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Phong is the funniest person in our class.
Grandma makes the best spring rolls in town.
Lan is the youngest of the four children.
This shop is the cheapest of all.
It was the happiest day of my life.
Tet is the busiest time of the year.
This is the best pizza I've ever eaten.
That was the worst film I have ever seen.
Who's the most famous person you've ever met?
It was the worst storm the town had ever seen.
Today was the best day ever!
= It's the biggest fish I've ever seen.
Nel parlato, soprattutto nell'inglese americano, a volte sentirai the best movie I ever saw (past simple).
4.Enfasi: by far, one of the
By far prima di the + superlativo sottolinea “il primo, e nessun altro si avvicina”. One of the + superlativo + sostantivo plurale è più morbido: non dice che è il numero uno.
This is by far the best phone I've ever had.
It's one of the oldest cities in Vietnam.
