Lição 41 · Etapa 3: Planos, pedidos e comparações
Superlativo + ever / in / of
IntermédioSuperlative + ever / in / of
Forma e uso
the best … I've ever…, the biggest in the world, the most … of all
1.Três estruturas depois do superlativo
Muitas vezes o superlativo precisa dizer o primeiro de quê. Há três formas comuns:
| Estrutura | Usado para | Exemplos |
|---|---|---|
| in + … | lugares; grupos e organizações (substantivos no singular) | the tallest building in the world, the best student in the class |
| of + … | um número; substantivos no plural; períodos de tempo | the cheapest of the three, the oldest of all, the happiest day of my life |
| (that) + sujeito + have ever + particípio passado | toda a sua experiência até agora | the best film I've ever seen |
2.In ou of?
1. in + um lugar ou um grupo
Ha Long Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Phong is the funniest person in our class.
Grandma makes the best spring rolls in town.
Lan is the youngest of the four children.
This shop is the cheapest of all.
It was the happiest day of my life.
Tet is the busiest time of the year.
O that costuma ser omitido.
This is the best pizza I've ever eaten.
That was the worst film I have ever seen.
Who's the most famous person you've ever met?
It was the worst storm the town had ever seen.
Today was the best day ever!
I've never seen such a big fish. = It's the biggest fish I've ever seen.
Na fala, principalmente no inglês americano, às vezes você vai ouvir the best movie I ever saw (passado simples).
4.Ênfase: by far, one of the
By far antes de the + superlativo reforça “o primeiro, e nada chega perto”. One of the + superlativo + substantivo no plural é mais suave — não afirma que é o número um.
This is by far the best phone I've ever had.
It's one of the oldest cities in Vietnam.
