Superlativos
InicianteSuperlatives
Forma e uso
the -est / the most … — o maior ou o menor de um grupo
1.Forma
Adjetivos curtos: the + -est; adjetivos longos: the most + adjetivo.
| Adjetivo | Comparativo | Superlativo |
|---|---|---|
| cheap | cheaper | the cheapest |
| nice | nicer | the nicest |
| big | bigger | the biggest |
| busy | busier | the busiest |
| expensive | more expensive | the most expensive |
| good / well | better | the best |
| bad / badly | worse | the worst |
| far | farther / further | the farthest / the furthest |

O Fansipan é a montanha mais alta do Vietnã.
This is the most expensive restaurant on this street.
Lembre-se do the: the tallest, the best — muitos alunos esquecem. E, como no comparativo, escolha um: -est ou most, não os dois (e não the most tallest).
2.Quando usar
Sunday is the busiest day of the week at our café.
Who's the youngest in your family?
2. O último: the least + adjetivo
Walking is the least expensive way to get around.
3. Um dos melhores: one of the + superlativo + substantivo no plural
Hoi An is one of the most beautiful towns in Vietnam.
She's one of the best students in the class.
4. Segundo, terceiro…: the second / the third + superlativo
Who got the second highest score in the class?
5. Com um possessivo, tire o the: my, your, Minh's… + superlativo
Nga is my oldest friend.
A Nga é minha amiga mais antiga.
This is Minh's best score so far.
| Estrutura | -er / more … than | the -est / the most … (in / of) |
| Exemplo | Lan is taller than her mother. | Lan is the tallest of the three sisters. |
Quando são só duas, a escrita cuidadosa usa the + comparativo + of the two (the taller of the two); na fala, muita gente ainda usa o superlativo.
This hotel is cheaper than that one, but the hostel is the cheapest.
My eldest brother lives in Da Nang.
4.Depois do superlativo: in, of, ever
Para os detalhes, veja “Superlativo + ever / in / of”.
Minh is the tallest boy in the class.
This is the cheapest of the three phones.
That's the funniest joke I've ever heard.
5.Erros comuns
