Il future perfect
AvanzatoFuture perfect
Forma e uso
will have + V3 — un'azione conclusa prima di un momento del futuro
1.Forma
Il future perfect = will have + participio passato (V3), uguale per tutti i soggetti: sempre will have, anche con he / she / it.
| Struttura | Esempio | |
|---|---|---|
| Affermativa | S + will have + V3 | I'll have finished. |
| Negativa | S + won't have + V3 | They won't have left. |
| Domanda | Will + S + have + V3? | Will you have finished by six? |
| Risposta breve | Yes, S will. / No, S won't. | Yes, I will. / No, I won't. |
Nel parlato veloce will have diventa 'll have e have si sente pochissimo, quasi “I'll've finished”.
1. Qualcosa che sarà concluso prima di (o entro) un momento del futuro, spesso con by + un'ora, by the time + frase, before. In italiano corrisponde al futuro anteriore (“avrò finito”).
Don't worry — I'll have sent you the file by lunchtime.
By the time we get to the station, the last train will have left.
Quando arriveremo in stazione, l'ultimo treno sarà già partito.
Call me after eight. I won't have finished work before then.
Chiamami dopo le otto. Prima non avrò finito di lavorare.
2. Contare un periodo di tempo o una quantità fino a un momento del futuro: will have + V3 + for…
Next June, Lan will have worked here for five years.
A giugno dell'anno prossimo Lan lavorerà qui da cinque anni.
By the end of this course, you will have learned over 500 new words.
In December, my parents will have been married for thirty years.
A dicembre i miei genitori saranno sposati da trent'anni.
Per sottolineare un'attività che continua, puoi usare will have been + -ing (il future perfect continuous): By six, I'll have been driving for ten hours.
It's ten o'clock. Mai will have arrived in Hanoi by now.
Sono le dieci. Mai sarà già arrivata ad Hanoi.
You'll have heard the news, I suppose.
Avrai già sentito la notizia, immagino.
Non usare il past simple per qualcosa che non è ancora successo (I finished it by Friday). Quando c'è un momento del futuro e l'idea è “per allora sarà già fatto”, pensa a will have + V3. (Anche I'll finish it by Friday è corretto: dice semplicemente che cosa farai; I'll have finished it by Friday sottolinea che in quel momento sarà tutto concluso.)
3.By, by the time e until
- by + un'ora o una data = non più tardi di quel momento, entro; molto comune con will have + V3: I'll have finished by Friday.
- by the time + present simple = prima che…: By the time you wake up, I'll have left (non: will wake up).
- until = fino a quel momento, senza interruzione; si usa con un'azione che dura: I'll be working until six (non: I'll have finished until six). Vedi la lezione “By o until”.
4.Confronto con tempi simili
| Tempo verbale | Esempio | Conta fino a |
|---|---|---|
| Past perfect | When I met Lan, she had worked here for a year. | un momento del passato |
| Present perfect | Lan has worked here for four years. | adesso |
| Future perfect | Next June, Lan will have worked here for five years. | un momento del futuro |
Will be -ing o will have + V3? In quel momento, se l'azione è in corso → will be -ing; se è conclusa → will have + V3.
At seven, I'll be cooking dinner, so don't call.
(in corso)
By eight, I'll have eaten, so we can talk then.
Alle otto avrò già mangiato, quindi potremo parlare. (concluso)
