Shadowing-Übung: Nobody Gets Away With Betrayal - Englisch Sprechen Lernen mit Video

1
When you've been hurt, it's really easy to believe
2
that the person who wronged you gets to just move on with their life
3
and live happily ever after while you're stuck behind heartbroken
4
and confused and trying to pick up the broken pieces of your life.
5
But that's not how life works.
6
No one gets away with anything.
7
No one can escape their own psyche.
8
the subconscious always remembers.
9
We always know deep down, even if we want to suppress it,
10
even if we lie to ourselves about it, we know when we've done something that isn't right.
11
We know when we've behaved inconsistently with our own character and integrity.
12
and sure there are going to be people who are not willing to face it
13
and you're some people who are never going to give you the apology
14
that you deserve but don't tell yourself the story
15
that they just get to be happy while you're upset
16
because again no one gets away with anything
17
and you might think well the narcissist gets away with it the narcissist doesn't care And guess what?
18
It's not true.
19
You think a true narcissist, you think they're happy?
20
Because I'm here to tell you that they're not.
21
They're deeply unhappy, profoundly unhappy.
22
And yes, if someone is truly that selfish and narcissistic, they could probably repress it.
23
They'll tell themselves a story about how they're the victim and, you know, they were wronged.
24
And even if they're not narcissistic, it's very easy for people to tell themselves a story that,
25
you know, we didn't do anything wrong or we were justified, but we'll have to face it at some point.
26
And it'll come up in other ways.
27
It'll come up in the relationships that we have that just are not working.
28
It'll come up in physical symptoms, back aches, jaw aches, headaches.
29
It'll come up in insomnia.
30
It'll come up in angst and stress.
31
It'll come up as just suffering and unhappiness.
32
Because unless someone truly does not know the difference between right and wrong, and that is a very rare person, by the way.
33
We all have to face ourselves at some point, even if you don't know the person
34
and you've just been on one date with them or maybe three dates and then you just never hear from them again.
35
Like none of that feels good.
36
We're human beings.
37
It's just having like the basic decency to to, I don't know, be polite and just tell someone,
38
you know, I'm not interested rather than just to disappear.
39
sometimes you're dating someone for a few weeks or even longer
40
or let's just say you were dating someone for a year
41
and then they just disappear you think that they are
42
that they just don't care no they're going to have to face themselves too
43
because the person who ghosts is only haunted by their own ghost,
44
which is their unconscious.
45
And that's the part of them that knows that something is just, that what they did is not right.
46
And like I said, we can suppress it as much as we like.
47
We can tell ourselves a story about how we're justified as much as we like, but we know it.
48
And when we're brave, then we face it.
49
And then we hopefully apologize to someone and own our behavior.
50
Many, many years ago, my then husband, who's now my ex-husband, broke up with me over a text on the morning
51
that I was having a miscarriage and my mother had a couple of months to live.
52
And this was obviously a horrible thing.
53
I talk about it in my book, It Begins With You.
54
And one of the worst days of my life.
55
When I think back to that day and I think about it very objectively,
56
I don't really have any emotion tied to it all because I processed it so much.
57
I remember for a long time, I would say like a good year, the only thing that could run through my mind was,
58
you know, he got to do that and now look.
59
You know, because inside of a year, he started seeing someone else,
60
got her pregnant and like within a year and a half was like starting a family with a new woman.
61
And I was working on myself and starting a new business and grieving the loss of my mom.
62
And for a good year, I was I struggled with a lot of depression because of it.
63
I was so sad.
64
I was I was grieving so profoundly.
65
And I remember thinking like he gets to break up with me in a way
66
that is so terrible and was completely undeserved.
67
And then he gets to be happy.
68
And I remember like thinking about that and how stuck it made me feel,
69
how angry, how it just kept on feeding my despair.
70
But as I started to heal and as I started to get some distance
71
and as I started to do the work that I do now, I realized something.
72
I learned probably one of the most important lessons
73
that I've ever learned and one of the most important lessons that I teach today, which is he has to live with doing that.
74
and I learned I don't need the apology from him.
75
I don't need the acknowledgement of that.
76
I mean, for a long time, that's all I wanted.
77
I don't need it anymore because I understand when I reflect on my own behavior, my own life, and when I understand human behavior,
78
no one gets away with anything and the psyche always remembers.
79
the body keeps the score so to speak and
80
so he knows the difference between right or wrong and
81
that is something that I know that he had to process
82
and figure out on his own and
83
if he never figured it out then it's coming out in other ways I know
84
that to be true you can think of it as karma but I don't really think of it as karma.
85
It's more just the reality of how we human beings operate.
86
And so the next time you are sobbing over the fact that someone has, you know, gets to get away with,
87
you know, moving on with their life and now you're, and your life is terrible and you're so heartbroken, people have to live with the betrayal and the wrongs
88
that they have done to others
89
and then they have to go through a whole process of learning how to respect and love themselves
90
after doing something that they know that was wrong.
91
And so you just have to trust that no one escapes that journey.
