Step one is the pre-task.

The pre-task stage should mentally and linguistically prepare your students for the upcoming task ahead.

In order to do this, you need to give very clear directions.

I commonly give each group one piece of paper with a step-by-step handout or a checklist for them to follow.

Group collaboration and creativity take hold, and generally it's the fun and exciting part of the task.

Make sure that you encourage use of the target language.

After this, the students will then act or present out their tasks.

It's the point where I hope they proudly display their creativity and stretch their language abilities in doing so.

It's a fluency activity, so I don't commonly interrupt unless asked for help.
