I would take the bus to school

and I would get in Kevin Cerenzi's Gran Torino with the other guys in the band

and it would be freezing cold in Detroit

and the windows would be down and we would smoke a lot of weed

and listen to 2112 over and over and over.

And I never really ever made it out of the parking lot into school.

Then I went to see them when a live album came out.

They played the first concert that opened Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

Back then you looked at record covers and white carpeting on the stage

and Neil's drum set and I set my drum set up exactly like his, I tried to.

I had little roto toms and splash cymbals and the cowbells.

I would play in my basement in Detroit, put on the headphones and play to that record.

And it changed my life.
