1
Hey guys, welcome back.
2
So it's almost the end of the school year and instead of thinking about the holidays and sitting on the beach, we have to think about exams!
3
And parents are stressed, grandparents are stressed and teachers are pressuring their kids with Prevision!
4
So the topic of today's video is how to make revision fun.
5
So, there are probably a lot of different creative ways Today I'm going to share with you the one
6
way that I do revision with Bye, kids.
7
So what better way to do revision than through a game?
8
Especially if it's a game that you and your kids create together.
9
It's a really simple game where you have a start and a finish and a lot of different squares in between.
10
So something similar to Candyland or Shooks and Ladders.
11
But what makes this game exciting is that something is happening on each square that you land on.
12
I think this is great because it kind of also
13
levels the playing field because even though the teacher might know all the answers, she might not be able to get to the finish line first,
14
because it also depends on how much what number you roll on the dice.
15
What's great about this game is that you don't need a lot of preparation beforehand.
16
It's something that can happen spontaneously during one of your lessons.
17
You really don't need a lot, basically just paper, scissors and I guess ideally a dice,
18
but I often forget to take a dice with me, so I'd suggest just downloading an app onto your phone with a dice.
19
And then the pawns that you can use for your game can be anything that the child has from
20
Rubber Owl to some coins that you have in your wallet.
21
Before you start the game, you will need to tell the kids what topics you will be revising today.
22
I would suggest keeping to just a few topics for your first game so that it just won't be overwhelming.
23
doing like 12 different topics throughout the, from the past Yeah.
24
So once you have your topics, your kids can start working on their squares.
25
When I'm working with younger learners, Um...
26
I would help them out by writing the words and they would draw a picture that would fit the word.
27
So for example if we are revising the weather I would write "It's windy" and my student would draw the picture.
28
So if you step on the word "it's windy" you get teleported to the picture with that fits with the word.
29
Another type of square that you and your students can create is questions.
30
So for example, answering a question like "What day is it today?"
31
or what's your hair colour or how old are you Another type of question that you can, or another type of square that you can create,
32
is one, for example, practicing past tense.
33
So if you land on eat, you have to find the past tense of eat.
34
Another type of activity that you can do is maybe a little bit more fun.
35
So it breaks the whole seriousness of the game, where you have to do some physical activity.
36
Here there's one that I have to do if I land on it and one that the student has to do.
37
For example, I have to do eight jumping jacks and my student has to do a I don't know what it's called, like a backwards backwards bridge.
38
So your role as a teacher is not only to have fun during this whole process, but also to have a couple of ideas maybe ready beforehand
39
so that you can give examples to the kids of what types of squares they could create.
40
have to be teleported to the answer.
41
Once you've given out these suggestions, you'll see that the kids will take on their own initiative and they'll make a lot of
42
fun and interesting squares all on their own.
43
Every tile that I create this game with is a little bit different, so some kids will tend to create squares
44
that have very easy tasks to do and other students will create squares with more complex tasks.
45
So your role as a tutor is to be aware of what the kids are creating
46
so that if they are a little bit too easy and you know that they could do a little bit better,
47
you can create extra extra squares with some questions that will be a little bit more Amen.
48
a little bit more demanding.
49
So once all the squares are completed, you can start setting up your game.
50
Try to make sure that the matching pairs of cards are somewhere away from each other.
51
I also have this rule that if you step on a word, you move forward onto the matching picture.
52
But if you step on a picture later on, it doesn't move you back.
53
So just make sure that you put most of the words in the beginning and the matching pictures a few steps forward.
54
Just so that you aren't like jumping back and forwards the whole time
55
It's better if the game is quick
56
and you can repeat it many times then if it's long and the kids begin to lose interest.
57
I also put out
58
a few post -it notes and some colored paper because I think that if you have those with you, if you are preparing for your lesson the day before,
59
then that can just make the preparation a whole lot quicker.
60
So revision doesn't have to be boring.
61
And what I've also found that's great about this game is
62
that it also calms parents down a little bit
63
because children can keep this game and they can play it with their parents over the weekend or before their exams.
64
And not only will the parents be satisfied that their children are
65
revising their schoolwork but kids are having fun because that are able to play with their parents.
66
So if you guys enjoyed this video, give me a thumbs up and please subscribe to see new videos that should be popping up soon.

And of course if you have any questions or comments you're welcome to leave them in the comment section below.
68
So have a great day.
