All / most / some / none of
most people vs most of the people, all of us, none of them — グループのどれくらいか
all, most, some, any, many, much, a few, half, no / none
| 一般的 — of なし | 特定のグループ — of + the/my… | |
|---|---|---|
| all | All children like games. | All (of) the children in my class like games. |
| most | Most people have a phone. | Most of the people I know have a phone. |
| some | Some shops open on Sundays. | Some of the shops on this street open on Sundays. |
| no / none | There are no easy answers. | None of my answers were right. |
「特定のグループ」とは、名詞の前に the, my, your, these, those, this, that, Lan's… そのときは of が必要です:most of the people, some of my friends。そういう語がなければ of はつけません:most people, some friends。
Most people in Vietnam ride motorbikes.
Most of the people at the party were students.
(特定のグループ → most of the)
Some of my classmates live in the city centre.
I spent most of the weekend in bed.
コツ:of のすぐ後ろには the, my, these, them のような語が必要です。 また、ここでは most の前に the をつけません:「the most of the students」は間違いです — the most は最上級です。
all と half だけは、the / my / this… の前の of を省略できます:all my friends = all of my friends、half the cake = half of the cake。ただし、その前に the をつけてはいけません:「the all students」や「the half of the cake」とは言いません。
All (of) my friends live nearby.
We ate half (of) the cake before dinner.
All students must wear a uniform.
it, us, you, them の前には、all や half でも、いつも of が必要です:all of us, half of it, none of them。
| + it(1つの物、不可算) | + us / you / them | |
|---|---|---|
| all of | all of it | all of us |
| most of | most of it | most of them |
| some of | some of it | some of you |
| none of | none of it | none of them |
The teacher gave all of us a sticker.
Do any of you speak Japanese?

We all went home. / They were all tired. / I invited them all.
何のことか明らかなときは、most, some, half, none, a few…
A few shops were open, but most were closed.
I wanted some cake, but there was none left.
Some people love durian, and some hate it.
Most of the money is gone(money は不可算 → 単数)、Most of the students are here(複数 → 複数)。none of + 複数名詞のときは、単数・複数どちらも正しいです(レッスン「No / none / any, nothing / nobody」を見てください)。
5.None of か not all か
「100%ではない」と言うときは not all (of) か not every- を使います。「All of my friends didn't come」のような文は意味があいまい(誰も来なかったのか、一部が来なかったのか)なので、避けたほうがいいでしょう。
None of my friends came.
Not all (of) my friends came. Some were busy.
Not everyone likes spicy food.
Most of people want a good job. Most people want a good job.

my / the の前には of が必要です(of を省けるのは all と half だけ)。
The teacher called all us to the front. The teacher called all of us to the front.
The most of the students passed. Most of the students passed.
All of students must wear a uniform. All students / All (of) the students must wear a uniform.
of を使うなら、後ろに the / my…
Most of the money are gone. Most of the money is gone.
