1
Hey guys, I'm Ren Evans.
2
I'm from Vietnam.
3
I make music and I'm really happy to be here.
4
So that was probably right after high school.
5
I have to convince my dad and the family to do this for real.
6
Because I was skipping a lot of school just to make music and they didn't like it like it.
7
I did a couple shows, you know, just homemade, and then out of nowhere, like, he started seeing the, I guess, the making of it.
8
You know, he started seeing the process.
9
He listened to the songs I put on SoundCloud.
10
He used to throw away my gears, you know, because I was skipping school and he was mad.
11
But one day he decided to bring me some gears.
12
He decided to give me, like, a pair of monitors, and that's when I know, like, okay, so what's What was that about, you know?
13
That would be when I was around like...
14
around six or five.
15
That's when my parents started taking me to piano class.
16
I learned piano for like two or three years and then I stopped.
17
Completely stopped music.
18
I didn't like piano.
19
Like, you know, when you were a kid, you were forced to do something.
20
They had this teacher who always hit me if I played it wrong.
21
So that's how hard it is to play piano when you're younger in Vietnam.
22
If you go to classical training, they will hit you.
23
And so when I was younger, I didn't like it.
24
And so I would cry on my way to the piano lesson.
25
Like, I was like, no, not piano.
26
No, no. They hit you with a ruler really hard.
27
Like, ah, play again.
28
But now I'm playing a lot of piano.
29
Yeah.
30
And it's actually helped me a lot.
31
Like, now that I'm producing, it makes things so much easier.
32
I'm so grateful that I had that experience younger.

About This Lesson

You're practicing English with "Wren's Interview on @COLORSxSTUDIOS#CHAATMD #Trao" using the Shadowing technique — a method originally developed for professional interpreter training.

Focus on sounding like the speaker — not just repeating words. With 15–30 minutes of daily practice, you'll build real-world speaking confidence.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
