1
The Sir, how's the shoulder? Been worse.
2
Really worried, you know, about Everything that could go wrong, really.
3
Most anxious I've been about anything.
4
The hardest feeling I've had before something, I'd say.
5
First tournament when I was at Dortmund.
6
Coming to Madrid, that game against Real Vallecano.
7
One where it felt worse than the normal ones.
8
Probably the most painful thing I've been through at the time.
9
The short term adversity that I have to overcome to be able to be back in my best physical condition.
10
Straighten this leg.
11
It doesn't really cause me too much pain.
12
It's more like the instability of it and knowing that
13
if I land from here or something like that it can always come out.
14
So it's just managing that really, playing with the brace.
15
And I think that's the thing that I'm most looking forward to, being able to play with that brace again.
16
I probably couldn't do any more with the brace every day in training and the games.
17
So yeah, I think it did the job it was supposed to do but now it's time to get it fixed.
18
So when we have a look again in the axial view we come down through the shoulder we see
19
the burn is sort of missing from this lower corner here.
20
Since I've had the surgery, obviously I'm three days post-op, it's feeling a lot better than I thought it would.
21
The surgeon, Andy Wallace, did a great job on his team, done an amazing job at having me in there as comfortable as possible as possible.
22
All in all a lot better than I thought it would be so I'm pleased with how it's going so far.
23
You know the staff and the hospitality at the 40th clinic was unbelievable.
24
As the day went on it came closer, I did feel a lot better about it and then
25
just being reminded that I was in the best hands possible for this kind of thing
26
so that made me feel a lot more comfortable with it definitely.
27
The start of the 22-23 season, which ended up being my last year at Dortmund, before the World Cup, and yeah, just went into a duel and landed funny on it,
28
on my arm and straight away knew something wasn't right and it was out.
29
And yeah, I remember them saying straight away, you know, you need to be getting an op for this really.
30
But then, you know, it was maybe August, September, the World Cup was in December.
31
I just couldn't risk that timeline and I wanted to know if there was any other way and then, yeah, that was kind of the story of it really,
32
that he continued to get pushed off and pushed off and held off and coming to Madrid, obviously it was like a blank start, you know, it felt fine,
33
I was doing really well and then I got to
34
that game against Real Vallecano where I just landed on it funny
35
and that was again one where it felt worse than the normal ones, where it stayed out for a while
36
and I couldn't get it back in myself
37
which I'd been able to do before the previous times
38
and they got the physio on
39
and it felt like an eternity before he got it back in and that physio still turns me now Guido there, it was actually 90 seconds
40
that it took for them to actually be able to come on the pitch
41
and pop it back in but for me it was like, it felt like five, ten minutes.
42
It was a horrible experience and then after
43
that everyone points to surgery straight away
44
but obviously it's my first year at the club
45
and I didn't want to have to disrupt the year that the team was having, that I was having, to miss three months and,
46
you know, who knows, maybe change the trajectory of that season.
47
In hindsight, I think the best time to do it would have been after the Euros.
48
Obviously, the season ended perfectly with Madrid
49
and then not quite as well with England and I didn't want
50
that to be the last taste I had in my mouth for three months
51
and I think in the end there wasn't the preparation for it that maybe I would have liked.
52
We weren't really proactive, myself and
53
and the people at the time weren't as proactive with it so we ended up deciding to kind of just
54
go for another year, leaving it as it is.
55
I started again the new season, no brace, no strapping.
56
The second or third game, gone for a tackle and it's come out again and then it's just like the physios are like, no you're gonna stay in the brace for the rest of the season now and then.
57
I think it was from that point I knew that this season, after this season, it would be without a doubt the season to get the surgery.
58
I think the actual shoulder injury itself has a lot of effect on the rest of my body.
59
Wearing the brace, I think, means that other parts of my body have to compensate for the lack of use that my shoulder can do.
60
I had a point in the season where I felt like I couldn't move
61
because of a pain I had in my back.
62
Got a scan and there was like a herniated disc on the side of my shoulder.
63
And we all kind of thought, the physios thought that that was something
64
that had to do with maybe the nerves being blocked from the problems I was having on my shoulder on
65
that side of my body.
66
So, yeah, not really an excuse, but I think from a medical point of view, there is probably evidence to suggest that it's taking its toll on other parts of my body.
67
I did feel like it was things that maybe happened as a result and the physios said the same.
68
But all in all, obviously it meant
69
that I could stay on the pitch instead of being out for three months
70
so it was kind of the small sacrifices that I had to make really.
71
You know, the way football's played now with the amount of games and the intensity of the game, I think the better physical condition you're in, the more everything just follows.
72
You know, I know what I can do technically, tactically, all that kind of stuff I've proven before.
73
But now being back to my best physically, I think will aid all that into coming into one, you know, and seeing the best of me, hopefully.
74
Last year made me understand that I should never take winning for granted again, and this year I plan on winning again a lot more.
75
Thank you.

Что такое техника Shadowing?
