Adjectives and adverbs
quick vs quickly, good vs well, hard vs hardly——描述事物 vs 描述做事的方式
Linh is a careful driver. | Linh drives carefully. |
Tuan's pronunciation is clear. | Tuan speaks clearly. |
This is an easy exercise. | I did the exercise easily. |
The library is always very quiet.
(be + 形容词)
She closed the door quietly.
Nam is a slow eater. He eats very slowly.
|---|---|---|
| 大多数形容词 | + ly | quick → quickly, bad → badly, careful → carefully, nice → nicely |
| 辅音字母 + y | y → ily | easy → easily, happy → happily, heavy → heavily |
| 辅音字母 + le | le → ly | terrible → terribly, gentle → gently, simple → simply |
| -ic | + ally | basic → basically, dramatic → dramatically(例外:public → publicly) |
| -ue, -ll | 去掉 e / 加 y | true → truly, full → fully |
It was a lovely evening.
He explained the rules in a friendly way.
The homework was surprisingly short today.
My little brother types amazingly fast.
The wedding was beautifully organised.
My grandmother was seriously ill last winter.
4.Good / well、fast、hard、late
|---|---|---|
| good | well | well 也可以作形容词 = 身体好:I'm not well today. well + 过去分词:well-known、well-paid |

Hardly = 几乎不。它放在实义动词前面(can / could 或助动词后面),常和 any、anyone、anything、ever 连用:hardly any(几乎没有),hardly ever(几乎从不)。

I hardly know my neighbours.

在随意的口语中,尤其是美式英语,你会听到 “I'm doing good”、“Drive safe”、“Come here quick!”。
