推量:must / can't
中級Deduction: must / can't
must be / can't be — 〜に違いない、〜のはずがないと確信する
その中間が might / may / could(ありうる)です。
|---|---|---|
| 本当だと確信 | She must be tired. |
| 本当かもしれない | She might / may / could be tired. |
| 本当ではないかもしれない | She might not / may not be tired. |
| 本当ではないと確信 | She can't / couldn't be tired. |
- must / can't + be + 形容詞・名詞・場所:He must be at work。
- must / can't + 動詞の原形(know、have、live、like… が多い):She must know him。
- 進行中のことには must / can't + be + -ing:They must be watching the match。
You've been on your feet all day. You must be exhausted.
The lights are off. They must be out.
Minh must know the answer — he's a maths teacher.
Listen to that noise. The neighbours must be having a party.
You must be Lan's brother. You look just like her!
3.can't —
He must not be home。
That can't be Tuan. He's in Singapore this week.
Ten dollars for a new laptop? That can't be right.
She can't be hungry — she's just had a big lunch.
You can't be serious!
レッスン「義務:must / have to / need to」も参照してください。
|---|---|---|
| You must be tired. | |
| You must wear a helmet. | |
| It can't be true. | |
| You mustn't smoke here.
すでに起こったことを推測するときは、must have + V3 と can't / couldn't have + V3 を使います。
The ground is wet. It must have rained last night.
