overcoming their grief meant making the courageous decisions to donate his wife's organs,

giving three other people a second chance in life.

I hope a part of my wife still lives on.

When I realized my mother could give others a second chance at life,

I felt very proud of her.

According to the National Coordinating Center for Human Organ Transplantation,

public awareness of organ donation after brain death has improved significantly in recent years.

Vietnam recorded 41 donor cases in 2024,

66 in 2025,

and 25 more in the first month of 2026 bringing the total to 286 cases over the past 16 years.

We hope to build a stronger network between hospitals with better training

and coordination so potential organ donors can be identified and connected more quickly and professionally in the future.

More than 175,000 people have registered as donors.

Nearly 10,000 transplants have been performed over the past three decades.

But many patients are still waiting for a second chance at life.

So from your perspective, what has been the most encouraging progress so far?

One of the most encouraging developments in Vietnam has been remarkable increase in public awareness and social support for organ donation,

especially donation after brand death.

Before 2023, the number of organ donation from brand deaths in Vietnam is less 5%.

But last year, disease organ donation is 18.9%.

From last two years, every year,

there are more than 50,000 people, 15,000 car donors.

What mechanism or policies are needed to make organ donation and transplantation more effective and accessible in Vietnam?

First, Vietnam needs a stronger national organ donation and transplantation coordination system.

This includes an rapid organ allocation mechanism and efficient transportation network to reduce organ ischemic harm.

Second, accurate information about brand debt,

organ donation, and transplantation should be integrated into schools and community campaigns.

Third, financial support policies are extremely important.

Finally, long-term success depends on building a culture of donation and social solidarity.

Organizations should be recognized not only as a medical procedure,

but also as a humanitarian act that saves lives and reflects cooperation within society.
