Verb + -ing
enjoy, keep, stop…
|---|---|---|
| 肯定文 | 動詞 + -ing | I enjoy cooking. |
| 1つ目の動詞の否定 | don't / doesn't / didn't + 動詞 + -ing | She doesn't mind waiting. |
| 2つ目の動詞の否定 | 動詞 + not + -ing | He suggested not telling her. |
| 疑問文 | do / does / did + S + 動詞 + -ing? | Do you mind sitting here? |
| ほかの時制 | kept / has finished / will avoid + -ing | It kept raining all day. |
1. 好き・嫌い・気にしない:enjoy, (not) mind, fancy(= want, feel like — イギリス英語のくだけた言い方), can't stand, dislike

Do you mind sitting at the back?
I can't stand waiting in long queues.
Do you fancy getting a bubble tea after class?
2. 終える・やめる・続ける・延ばす:finish, stop, quit, give up, keep (on), go on, carry on, put off, postpone, delay

Don't risk losing your photos — back them up.

Have you ever considered working abroad?

She suggested not telling anyone yet.
- 動詞 + 人 + -ing:I can't imagine my dad dancing. / Sorry to keep you waiting. / Do you mind me sitting here?(よりかたい言い方:my sitting)
- keep / keep on + -ing = 何度もくり返す(いらだちを含むことが多い):My laptop keeps freezing.
He denied taking the money. = He denied having taken the money.
- suggest, recommend, admit, deny は that 節もとれます:Lan suggested (that) we meet at the cafe(イギリス英語では we should meet も)。ただし「suggested us to meet」とは言いません。
- stop と go on は to + 動詞もとれますが、意味が変わります — レッスン「-ing か to か:remember, forget, stop, try, need」を見てください。
I enjoy swimming, but today I want to stay at home.
We're considering moving to Da Nang. We plan to go in May.

I don't mind helping. I've already agreed to help on Saturday.
