Kalıp ve kullanım

in order to, so as to, so that + can/will — birinin bir şeyi neden yaptığını söylemek

toyalın fiilI went out to buy some bread.
in order toyalın fiilShe moved to Hanoi in order to find work.
so as toyalın fiilWe left early so as to avoid the traffic.
in order not to / so as not toyalın fiilI wrote it down so as not to forget.
so thatözne + can / will / could / would…I'll text you so that you know where we are.
forisimWe stopped for coffee.

Türkçedeki “öğrenmek için” yüzünden çok yaygın bir hata, amaç için for + fiil kullanmaktır (I came here for learn English). Fiille to / in order to kullan: I came here to learn English. For isimle gelir: I came here for the course.

2.To, in order to, so as to

1. To + fiil — en yaygın yol, özellikle konuşmada

  • I called the shop to check if they had my size.

  • Why are you learning English? — To get a better job.

Neden İngilizce öğreniyorsun? — Daha iyi bir iş bulmak için.

2. In order to / so as to — amacı vurgular, daha resmîdir. Yazıda, iş e-postalarında ve sunumlarda yaygındır; so as to biraz daha da resmîdir.

  • Minh moved to Hanoi in order to find work.

Minh iş bulmak için Hanoi'ye taşındı.

  • Staff must wear gloves so as to protect their hands.

Personel ellerini korumak için eldiven giymek zorundadır.

3. Olumsuz: in order not to / so as not to + fiil — not, to'dan önce gelir.

  • I set two alarms in order not to miss my flight.

Uçağımı kaçırmamak için iki alarm kurdum.

  • She whispered so as not to wake her parents.

    Ailesini uyandırmamak için fısıldayarak konuştu.

Amaç için tek başına not to kulağa tuhaf gelir (I left early not to miss the bus). so as not to, in order not to ya da so that … won't / wouldn't de.

3.So that + yan cümle

Arkasından özne + fiil geldiğinde so that kullan — özellikle amaç başka biriyle ilgiliyse ya da can / will gerekiyorsa. Şimdi ya da gelecekteki amaç → can, will (ya da Simple Present); geçmişteki amaç → could, would.

  • I'll send you a map so that you can find the house easily.

  • Take an umbrella so that you don't get wet.

    Islanmaman için şemsiye al.

  • Dad bought a bigger car so that we could travel together.

(geçmiş → could)

  • We spoke quietly so that we wouldn't wake the baby.

Bebeği uyandırmamak için sessizce konuştuk. (geçmiş → wouldn't)

Günlük konuşmada that'i atabilirsin: Speak up so everyone can hear. I was tired, so I went to bed. — bu bir amaç değil.

Eylemi başka birinin ya da bir şeyin yapması gerektiğini söylemek için in order for + kişi / şey + to + fiil kullan (resmî): In order for the plan to work, everyone has to help.

4.To mu for mu?

Söylemek istediğinKullanÖrnek
bir eylem olarak amaçto + fiilI went to the pharmacy to buy medicine.
bir şey ya da hizmet olarak amaçfor + isimI went to the pharmacy for some medicine.

  • We stopped for petrol. = We stopped to get petrol.

    Benzin almak için durduk.

  • This app is for booking train tickets.

Bu uygulama tren bileti almak için. (bir şeyin ne için kullanıldığı)

5.Sık yapılan hatalar

I came here to learn English.

Fiille amaç → to + fiil, for değil.

  • She works two jobs for paying her rent.

She works two jobs to pay / in order to pay her rent.

    So that + özne + can/will…
