“It takes … to”

It takes + zaman / çaba + to + fiil, bir şeyin ne kadar zaman ya da çaba gerektirdiğini söyler. It boş öznedir; zamana göre yalnızca take değişir (take – took – taken).

💡Öğrenciler it ile sık sık lose ya da spend kullanır. it ile gereken zaman için fiil her zaman take'tir: It took me two hours to fix the printer. Özne bir kişiyse spend + -ing kullan: I spent two hours fixing it.

1. Bir şeyi yapmak için gereken zaman

• It takes about two hours to get from Hanoi to Hai Phong by bus.

  Hanoi'den Hai Phong'a otobüsle gitmek yaklaşık iki saat sürer.

• It took me three years to learn to drive.

  Araba kullanmayı öğrenmem üç yıl sürdü.

• It only takes a minute to sign up.

  Kaydolmak sadece bir dakika sürer.

2. Ne kadar sürdüğünü sormak: How long does / did / will it take…?

• How long does it take to boil an egg? — About seven minutes.

  Yumurta haşlamak ne kadar sürer? — Yaklaşık yedi dakika.

• How long did it take you to get your driving licence?

  Ehliyetini alman ne kadar sürdü?

Kısa cevaplar: It takes about an hour. / Not long. / Ages! (çok uzun süre) / It depends on the traffic.

3. Gereken çaba, nitelikler ya da şeyler: It takes + practice / patience / courage / money…

• It takes a lot of practice to play the guitar well.

  Gitarı iyi çalmak çok pratik ister.

• It takes courage to speak in front of a big crowd.

  Kalabalık bir topluluğun önünde konuşmak cesaret ister.

4. Zamana başka birinin ya da bir şeyin ihtiyacı olduğunda: for + kişi / şey + to + fiil

• It took six weeks for my visa to arrive.

  Vizemin gelmesi altı hafta sürdü.

• It took ages for the bus to come.

  Otobüsün gelmesi çok uzun sürdü.

Etkinliğin kendisini de özne yapabilirsin: The journey takes six hours. / Getting a visa took us six weeks. Bir kişi de özne olabilir: She took ages to reply.

Süre bitmişse continuous değil, Simple Past kullan: It took me five years to finish my degree.

• It took me two days to paint my room. = I spent two days painting my room.

  Odamı boyamam iki gün sürdü. = Odamı boyamak için iki gün harcadım.

• ✗It takes me thirty minutes for walking to school.

  ✓It takes me thirty minutes to walk to school.

  It takes + zaman + to + fiil.

• ✗It spends me two hours to do my homework.

  ✓It takes me two hours to do my homework.

  Spend'in öznesi bir kişi olmalıdır: I spend two hours doing…

• ✗It take me an hour to cook dinner.

  ✓It takes me an hour to cook dinner.

  It → takes (-s ekle).

• ✗It took to me two weeks to get over the flu.

  ✓It took me two weeks to get over the flu.

  Kişiden önce to gelmez.

• ✗It has took me two years to save for this bike.

  ✓It has taken me two years to save for this bike.

  take'in V3 hâli taken'dır.

• ✗It needs two hours to drive from Hanoi to Ninh Binh.

  ✓It takes two hours to drive from Hanoi to Ninh Binh.

  it + to + fiil ile take kullan.
