Lezione 78 · Tappa 6: Costruzioni verbali
“It takes … to”
IntermedioForma e uso
it takes + tempo/sforzo + to verbo — ciò che serve per qualcosa
1.Forma
It takes + tempo / impegno + to + verbo dice quanto tempo o quanto impegno serve per qualcosa. It è un soggetto vuoto; cambia tempo solo take (take – took – taken).
| Struttura | Esempio |
|---|---|
| It takes + tempo + to + verbo | It takes ten minutes to walk there. |
| It takes + persona + tempo + to + verbo | It takes me ten minutes to walk there. |
| It takes + tempo + for + persona / cosa + to + verbo | It took a week for my ankle to heal. |
| It takes + impegno / qualità + to + verbo | It takes courage to say no. |
| How long does it take (+ persona) + to + verbo? | How long does it take you to get to work? |
Dove l'italiano dice “ci vuole un'ora” o “mi ci sono volute due ore”, l'inglese usa take, non lose né spend: It took me two hours to fix the printer. Con una persona come soggetto si usa spend + -ing: I spent two hours fixing it.

It takes a lot of practice to play the guitar well.
