1.รูปประโยค
It takes + เวลา / ความพยายาม + to + กริยา บอกว่าการทำอะไรสักอย่างต้องใช้เวลาหรือความพยายามเท่าไร It เป็นประธานเปล่า มีแค่ take ที่เปลี่ยนตาม tense (take – took – taken)

ผู้เรียนมักใช้ lose หรือ spend กับ it แต่ถ้าประธานคือ it กริยาที่บอกเวลาที่ต้องใช้คือ take เสมอ: It took me two hours to fix the printer ถ้าประธานเป็นคน ใช้ spend + -ing: I spent two hours fixing it

คำตอบสั้น ๆ: It takes about an hour. / Not long. / Ages! (นานมาก ๆ) / It depends on the traffic.
3. ความพยายาม คุณสมบัติ หรือสิ่งที่ต้องมี: It takes + practice / patience / courage / money…
It takes a lot of practice to play the guitar well.

4. เมื่อคนอื่นหรือสิ่งอื่นเป็นฝ่ายใช้เวลา: for + คน / สิ่งของ + to + กริยา
It took six weeks for my visa to arrive.

เมื่อช่วงเวลาจบแล้ว ให้ใช้ Past Simple ไม่ใช่ Continuous: It took me five years to finish my degree.
4.Take, spend, last, need
