depend on, listen to, wait for, deal with — sabit bir edatla kullanılan fiiller
1.Kalıp
Birçok fiil, nesnesinden önce sabit bir edat ister: fiil + edat + nesne. Nesne yoksa edat da düşer. Sorularda edat genellikle sona gelir.

3.Fiil + nesne + edat
Bazı fiillerde nesne (çoğu zaman bir kişi) fiilden hemen sonra gelir, edat ondan sonra gelir.
- thank sb for sth — birine bir şey için teşekkür etmek
- apologise to sb for sth — birinden bir şey için özür dilemek
- explain / describe sth to sb — birine bir şeyi açıklamak / anlatmak
- ask sb for sth — birinden bir şey istemek
- remind sb of sth (birine bir şeyi çağrıştırmak, hatırlatmak); remind sb about sth (unutmasın diye hatırlatmak)
- spend money / time on sth — bir şeye para / zaman harcamak
- protect sb / sth from sth — birini / bir şeyi bir şeyden korumak

5.Edat ALMAYAN fiiller
Öte yandan birçok fiil, edat gerekecekmiş gibi görünse bile, nesnesini doğrudan, edatsız alır.

- İlgili isimler ise edat alır: a discussion about, an answer to, contact with; ayrıca get married to (“İsim + edat” dersine bak).
- arrive in + şehir ya da ülke; arrive at + bina ya da yer (station, airport, hotel). “arrive to” değil.
- arrive / get / go home: home'dan önce edat yok.
- meet (biriyle buluşmak) with almaz; meet with (çoğunlukla Amerikan İngilizcesi) resmî toplantılar için kullanılır.

Türkçeden çevirirken, İngilizcede olmayan yerlere edat eklemek (“biriyle evlenmek” → marry with, “odaya girmek” → enter into / to) ya da gereken yerde edatı atlamak kolaydır: “seni bekliyorum” → wait for you, “müzik dinlemek” → listen to music, “bana açıkla” → explain to me. Unutma: discuss / marry / enter doğrudan nesne alır, ama explain to ister.
