9
Your singing is kind of shrieky, Frank told Carol.
10
Carol stomped away.
11
Frank always told the truth to adults.
12
Your breath smells funny.
13
He told his teacher, Ms. Zaroma.
14
She sent Frank to the principal's office.
15
Your toupee looks like my pet weasel.
16
He told Principal Wiggins.
17
Mr. Wiggins called Frank's mom.
18
You wouldn't get so many wrinkles if you didn't glare at me like that.
19
Frank told his mom on the way home
20

I'm still going to sing in the talent show at the school carnival tomorrow.
30
But I'm not going to ride the Ferris wheel with you, Carol told Frank.
31
But we always ride the Ferris wheel together, Frank whispered.
32
Everyone was upset.
33
And now Frank wasn't so happy either.
34
Frank clipped his toenails and alphabetized his bug collection.
35

45
Thank you, Mrs. Peacock beamed.
46
Toodaloo.
47
Frank couldn't believe his ears.
48
Grandpa, you lied.
49
No, Frank, I told the truth.
50
I really do like the purple flower best.
51
I talked about the good things on her hat instead of the not so good things.
52
Grandpa's best friend, Mr. Pickles, pulled up in his truck.
53
Try this relish, he called, handing Grandpa a jar and a spoon.
54
I've got a cold and can't taste a thing.
55
Grandpa scooped a spoonful of relish into his mouth.
56
His nose twitched, his eyes watered, his hair stood on end.
57
Give it to me straight, Ernest, said Mr. Pickles.
58
I can't sell it if it's no good.
59
Grandpa wiped his eyes.
60
More sugar, less pepper.
61
Mr. Pickles grinned and shook Grandpa's hand.
62
Back to the drawing board.
63
Thanks for your help.
64
Grandpa, he didn't get mad at you.
65
That's right.
66
Grandpa drank some water.
67
He asked me for the truth, and I gave it to him.
68
Frank sighed.
69
So, I shouldn't give the truth unless someone asks for it?
70
You should always give people the truth, Grandpa said.
71
You just have to find the right way to serve it the next afternoon at the school carnival
72
when mrs. Aroma laughed like a horse
73
Frank said you tell great jokes
74
when mr wiggins did a weird dance frank said impressive spins sir

78
Mom, your hair looks nice today.
79
I only see a little gray.
80
And when she smiled, Frank decided not to mention the wrinkles around the corners of her mouth.
81
The next day, while Frank helped Grandpa in his garden, Mrs. Peacock stopped by again.
82
You were right, she said to Grandpa.
83
That other hat had too many flowers.
84
Just then, Mr. Pickles arrived with a new jar of relish for Grandpa to try.
85
Excuse me a moment, Grandpa said to Mrs. Peacock.
86
So what do you think of my hat?
87
Mrs. Peacock asked, but this time she wasn't asking Grandpa.
88
She was asking Frank.
89
Frank looked at Grandpa on the porch with Mr. Pickles.
90
Grandpa was taking another spoonful of relish, and he wasn't drinking any water.
91
Frank knew just what to say.
92
I've never seen a hat like that before.
93
It must be one of a kind.
94
Thank you, Mrs. Peacock beamed.
95
Toodaloo.
96
So how is it being frank today, Grandpa asked.
97
Well, Grandpa, I still think honesty is the best policy, said Frank.
98
But now I know it's best served with more sugar and less pepper.
99
the end i uh i was given this book to read
100
and i read it and i loved it i love the message in it
101
because i bob odenkirk have often prided myself on being honest
102
and frank when in truth you can be a little rude
103
or you could hurt people's feelings so you have to decide how and the way you're going to be honest.
104
So anyway, the message in this book was one that I liked very much, because I very much need this lesson for myself.
