18
Let's talk about camping.
19
Recently, I went camping with my family,
20
We went camping very close to my house.
21
So these were short camping trips just one night each,
22
but they were fun and we really enjoyed them.
23
Where do we go camping?
24
In the US, when people want to go camping, where do they go?
25
We usually go to specific parks, usually government Parks like a state park,
26
a regional park, or whatever.
27
We go to government parks and it's in nature, but it's more controlled.
28
So it's safe, you have to pay,
29
to go inside the park.
30
You have to pay to camp there.
31
So it's very controlled and safe, but it's still nature.
32
but normally people don't just go into the forest and camp.
33
People might do that, but I think it's more common to go to these parks,
34
where they have campgrounds as we call them.
35
So there are different sites, different places in the campground where people can camp.
36
So, normally you're next to other people.
37
you're close to other campers.
38
And at these campgrounds, they provide everything you need for like water,
39
bathrooms, fire pits, like where you make a fire,
40
tables, So you can sit and eat.
41
A parking space for your car.
42
There are trees usually.
43
So they provide a lot of stuff,
44
but of course you need to bring your own Tent.
45
Or maybe you can camp in an RV.
46
as we call it.
47
These are these big vehicles where you can sleep in them and there's a bathroom and a kitchen.
48
Maybe.
49
many people in the US like to camp in an RV.
50
I prefer tent camping.
51
When I go camping, I sleep in a tent.
52
These are different types of experiences.
53
tent camping and RV camping.
54
are very different But, They're both fun.
55
And sleeping in a tent,
56
is not very comfortable, but it's interesting experience.
57
I think that
58
Part of the fun camping is being a little uncomfortable because it's part of the experience to be in nature,
59
to not have the same comfortable things that you have at home.
60
It's part of the fun.
61
So the tent that we use is called an instant tent.
62
So this means that you can set it up you can put it together very quickly.
63
like in an instant.
64
Because there are other tense that are much harder to to set up.
65
And it can take a long time to set those tents up.
66
I've seen people struggle for a long time to set up those types of tents.
67
But the instant tent that we have is very easy to set up and you can do it very quickly.
68
So, We set up the tent when we arrive at the campsite,
69
because You don't want to Wait until nighttime.
70
to set up the tent.
71
You want the light.
72
And this tent has doors and windows and you can...
73
Leave the roof?
74
uncovered?
75
so that you can see the sky.
76
It's really cool.
77
And of course, we have sleeping bags.
78
these things where we can sleep in.
79
And sometimes people use air mattresses where they inflate and it's like a bed.
80
And there are other types of beds to sleep on in tents.
81
And in some areas where people camp,
82
there are animals and you can hear them.
83
at night when you're in your tent.
84
When we camped, we heard Coyotes.
85
night.
86
But this is okay.
87
It's not scary or anything.
88
It's part of the fun.
89
Of course, if you camp in the mountains and you hear a bear That's a little scary.
90
But for us, we like to be in nature, around animals, It's fun.
91
And normally when you sleep in a tent, you wake up early.
92
because the sun comes up and everything becomes light.
93
So, it's hard to sleep more when everything is light around you.
94
How about cooking?
95
I I love cooking when camping because We cook over the fire.
96
So we use the fire that we make.
97
I start the fire and we cook over the fire,
98
we use skewers, these long sticks we use skewers and we put
99
the food on the skewer and put it over the fire. to cook.
100
We cooked hot dogs.
101
So we cooked hot dogs.
102
We put the hot dog on the skewer and put it over the fire and It cooks.
103
And we also cooked meatballs.
104
We put them on the skewers as well and cooked them over the fire and we cooked marshmallows.
105
We roasted marshmallows, as we say.
106
This is one of the funnest parts of camping, roasting marshmallows.
107
They're delicious and you can use them to make s'mores S'mores are these sandwiches with
108
Graham crackers these sweet crackers and a roasted marshmallow? And.
109
Chocolate uh If you combine these into a sandwich.
110
This is called a s'more.
111
So I love making s'mores and roasting marshmallows.
112
Some people prefer to bring pans and pots and cook over the fire, on a pan.
113
We don't do this.
114
We just use skewers, these sticks.
115
I love this part of camping.
116
It's really fun to make your food over the fire and it's fun to sit around the fire.
117
So, Why do people go camping?
118
It's a lot of fun.
119
You can spend time in nature.
120
You can change your routine a little bit.
121
You do something different when you camp.
122
You sleep somewhere different.
123
You cook differently.
124
It's a different experience and It is interesting to change your routine.
125
And it's even fun to Set up the camp.
126
It's fun to feel like you are surviving in nature,
127
even if It's not in a forest or in the mountains even in a park,
128
it's still fun.
129
It feels good to set up the tent and build the fire and cook and all of that.
130
And It's fun to sit around the campfire and spend time with your family or your friends,
131
and talk, and tell stories, and make memories.
132
Some of my greatest memories from my childhood are my memories of camping.
133
I had so much fun camping as a kid and I hope that my children also make memories while camping.
134
And I hope that when they are adults,
135
they can remember these experiences of camping, with their family.
136
So, There are many reasons why people like camping and I recommend that you try it.
137
if you're able to if you can.

Since the pace of the speaking is moderate, beginners will find it easier to follow along and mimic the speaker effectively. As you practice, pay special attention to the emotional expressions conveyed in the video; try to replicate the excitement and enthusiasm around camping. You can even pause after each sentence to echo the phrases back, reinforcing your fluency. Remember to create your notes for any new vocabulary you encounter—this will serve as a practical shadowing site for your ongoing learning!
