1
Hey guys, it's Syd, and welcome back.
2
I love Sundays.
3
I've always loved Sundays.
4
In my mind, Sundays are supposed to be the day of the week where you relax, you recharge, kind of just like get ready for the week.
5
And I recently realized I don't really do that anymore.
6
Like I try to go through the motions, but i still really feel like distracted and i realized it's
7
because of my phone
8
and some of you guys know i bought a little brick recently it's this little gray thing
9
and it locks you out of social media
10
so last night i was like you know what i'm gonna do a no scroll sunday
11
and brick my phone so i can't use social media
12
and ideally hopefully be more present
13
and in the moment before i start with my reset -esque
14
activities i need coffee i actually do guys like i was up very late unfortunately.
15
I think the big part of the reason I usually scroll in public is because I feel awkward doing nothing.
16
Like I feel like everyone else is occupied right now and I'm just while I am filming myself.
17
I brought my little notebook to write down my to -do list kind of old -fashioned style on pen and paper.
18
I don't really have a big to -do list on Sundays
19
but you know just things that I like to do to reset.
20
Feels like I have so much more time in my day already just sitting here not scrolling.
21
I feel so much less overwhelmed.
22
I'm realizing I can only tolerate so much caffeine these days, so I decided to come home and offset the coffee I just drank with non -caffeinated tea.
23
I don't think it works like that, to be honest.
24
Some of you guys know this, but the past couple years I haven't been able to get my nails done at the nail salon
25
because I developed an allergy.
26
It has been so unfortunate because I used to love getting gel.
27
I even posted about it on TikTok and I was like, please help me someone because I want to do my nails
28
and have them look nice
29
but i can't get them done anymore i got a lot
30
of comments suggesting the manicurist to use as an alternative to
31
getting my gel nails done i've been beginning to find this
32
a bit therapeutic like i kind of enjoy my nail time now to myself
33
guys look at my nails they look
34
so good i can't even express how happy this makes me
35
after i thought i was done for good i thought i couldn't do my nails anymore
36
and now i think i need to clean my sheets
37
which is what I've been
38
dreading the most
39
I used
40
to think my least favorite chore was cleaning my toilet
41
but then as I got older I realized it's actually just putting a fitted sheet on my bed.
42
Not to be dramatic but it is like the worst thing ever and I think I'd rather do anything else.
43
But on the other hand I do love going to bed with freshly washed sheets.
44
Like there's nothing better.
45
I also made the switch about two years ago from white colored sheets to beige colored sheets.
46
The reason being my self tan.
47
You don't want to see what my sheets looked like.
48
If you self tan you know um it's kind of a
49
horrifying sight to have yourself tanner stained all over your white bed sheets
50
so this kind of solves the problem at least it's invisible
51
it is a bit embarrassing how long this takes me it's like a jigsaw puzzle
52
so i do think i spoke too soon i think my least favorite thing is actually not the fitted sheet
53
but putting on the duvet cover.
54
This takes me about 30 minutes, so I'm just going to speed this up for everybody.
55
Bed is done.
56
I can't wait to go to sleep in like eight hours, but I still have my entire laundry basket of clothes to folds.
57
I've always associated my Sundays with doing laundry and cleaning.
58
My room is actually pretty bad, okay?
59
I'm not even going to sugarcoat this for you all.
60
I'll just show you the proof.
61
I mean, I guess it could be worse.
62
Every 10 minutes, I keep grabbing my phone to go on it, and then I just realize there's nothing for me to do on it today.
63
It is like muscle memory.
64
Like, I don't even realize that I'm going to grab my phone until I'm trying to hit Instagram, and I realize.. blocked.
65
I'm trying to just be present and like not even listen to music
66
while cleaning because I feel like I don't need to always be stimulated.
67
Why do I always feel the need to have my brain occupied?
68
Probably TikTok is the cause of this
69
but I honestly feel like I'm the most creative and come up with my best ideas when I am like bored.
70
Literally just like cleaning doing absolutely nothing like not listening to a podcast, not listening to music, not texting or like being on my phone that's like
71
when i think of my like i don't know best video ideas
72
or my best thoughts long story short i'm gonna stop procrastinating and finish cleaning my room in silence
73
i never really just do one thing at a time anymore
74
if i'm cleaning i'll have a youtube video playing or
75
if i'm eating i'm watching something
76
if i'm in line at a coffee shop i'm probably scrolling on instagram
77
so one thing i really liked about today is kind of
78
just like letting the boring things be boring like i'm cleaning my apartment
79
and that's it nothing else is happening once i kind of get past
80
that stage of the initial urge to pick up my phone it starts to feel really peaceful
81
and i kind of feel less mentally tired i don't know
82
if that's just like the placebo effect but i really do feel
83
that way on the days that i spend less time on my phone
84
but i really did get in here i did a great
85
deep clean there's like no better feeling than a deep clean
86
and this is coming from a girl who used to be a wreck okay guys i used to be
87
so messy my mom made dedicated posts on her instagram in 2014 of the messes
88
that i would leave behind so you know i'm a changed woman i guess
89
nothing quite boosts my mood like cleaning my room
90
because i feel like i am the happiest person in the world i look
91
so good it's honestly been kind of messy for like a month i find
92
that my room kind of correlates with my mental state like my room's messy i'm usually not doing as well
93
or like not as happy
94
so now things are looking up for me guys also i put this note on my mirror i don't know
95
if you guys even saw this in the montage, but when I was at a coffee shop the other day, I met one of you guys who gave me this little note filled with video ideas.
96
We were chatting for a while.
97
She came up to me and she's like, I love your videos.
98
And honestly, like one of the first things I ask you guys when you say that to me is like, what videos should I be making?
99
And I just love asking you guys for ideas when I see you because you guys really have like the best ideas.
100
It was so sweet and so thoughtful
101
so i am gonna make sure i use this hence why
102
it's on my mirror my urges to go on my phone are slowly increasing throughout the day
103
so i think i'm just gonna go for a walk that's
104
like what i might go to whenever i don't know what to do is i just go for a walk
105
i feel like there's actually a pretty big difference between being alone
106
and being alone with your thoughts you guys know how important it is for me to like do things alone
107
and enjoy my own company
108
but I don't know this is kind of making me realize being without my phone how even
109
if I am alone I'm usually scrolling
110
and still like consuming other people's lives you know like seeing what they're doing on their day on Instagram
111
or listening to a podcast like I'm never really truly alone on those days
112
that I still have social media so this has been kind of nice
113
and refreshing and kind of awkward to be honest but I think it's good for me okay guys it's dinner time
114
tonight we're following olivia's recipe
115
so no pressure the pressure's on we're gonna do smash burgers i tried this the other day
116
and i set off a fire alarm so yeah i came home
117
and there was like smoke there was like a fire well that's a lot of onion oh my gosh that's
118
so much onion yeah they shrink a lot like i did one onion last time and i I ate it all.
119
You ate a whole onion?
120
Um, no. When it's caramelized, it shrinks so much.
121
I don't know, is that a lot to consume, like a whole onion?
122
Maybe it's not, maybe I'm like not realizing.
123
Maybe it is.
124
Maybe I'm not conceptualizing like an onion.
125
I need to be more self -aware of my onion consumption.
126
Really niche problem, eating too much onion.
127
Wash and chop lettuce would be the first thing.
128
Okay.
129
Oh, it's a very naughty.
130
okay tutorial with olivia we're gonna start with one of these really thin patties
131
and then you fold it like a little taco
132
and then we come over here okay and we'll start with some sauce
133
or dupe sauce it's really good i'm gonna add a lot
134
no it's never too much it's never too much sauce caramelized
135
onions um slightly burnt a whole onion per person yes mandatory uh by the way
136
and then some lettuce there we have it wow it looks
137
so good okay even better well let's hope
138
so well we're gonna find out okay
139
so don't mind this crazy setup it looks like we're about to review this
140
but actually we are but we're gonna do
141
that um olivia burned her finger so i did thoughts
142
and prayers please yes it's like the tiniest burn ever taste this make sure it's like your second bite
143
because the patty is pretty small so you won't get it in the first bite i'm like tortilla
144
cheers to the second bite
145
it's good so far i had onion like fly out of my mouth in that clip like it was like
146
the sauce is
147
so good i think the tortilla should have been like cooked a bit more i'm sorry wait no no
148
but i think it's the i don't think it's you i
149
think it's the actual tortilla type you know what i'm saying
150
i don't think it cooks very well clearly definitely i can see your onion thing now
151
because like this doesn't feel like a lot of onion this
152
is like would love this every night like really new meal
153
really now we can have a new meal our rotation is
154
like kind of getting big we like needed something new we'll
155
have like the same dinner every day for a month i'm not kidding right like people think we're joking
156
but it's not a joke it's real we had to do
157
it we had to we're getting way too predictable way too predictable we got to like shake it up
158
and like really just like surprise people can't let anybody know
159
what's coming hey guys it's my favorite part of the day
160
i'm in bed i can't wait to go to sleep like
161
i don't i like really look forward to just getting in my bed in the evening
162
and closing my eyes
163
and sleeping it's like kind of sad anyways thanks for hanging
164
out with me i had such a nice sunday i hope you guys also enjoyed
165
and i also hope
166
that you take this as some inspo to maybe like do
167
your own no scroll sunday i saw it originally i think on tiktok
168
that people were doing it and i've been meaning to do it for a
169
while and at some point i just had to tell myself okay i'm gonna do it for a sunday
170
and i'm really glad that i did i felt like i was able to have like
171
so much more time in the day than usual
172
because i wasn't feeling it just mindlessly scrolling
173
and i always have the least amount of stress on the days
174
when i don't have social media i could go on
175
and on forever but i hope it inspires as like one person, maybe.
176
Love you guys.
177
Thanks for watching.
178
I'll see you soon.
179
Bye.
